We will be running Saturday Junior Academies for the following curriculum areas; • Apps Design • Electronics • Fashion • Hospitality and Culinary Arts • Interactive Media Junior Academies will run for three hours every Saturday from 10am.
6
The Junior Academy programmes will provide continuous development for young people to help them realise their full potential. No matter what the experience of the learner, the Junior Academy will provide a comprehensive programme of study which
has been built around the key concepts of the subject matter. Young learners are often unsure of what they want to do in their futures. In a world full of opportunities, they have to find a balance between their own interests and dreams and the realities of work and employment. The Junior Academy programmes provide a balance of learning and fun to give the young learners the knowledge and understanding needed to make the right choices.
INTERACTIVE DESIGN AND LIVE PRODUCTION AT THE ACADEMY
Skills’ training in multimedia is helping learners to be work ready when they achieve their qualifications within the Academy, where innovation and entrepreneurial skills prosper. The future outlook for careers in multimedia and web design look promising. Both fields offer a range of career paths and job opportunities continue to increase as technology advances. Positions become more accessible, immediate and interactive and the demand for 3D animators and multimedia design professionals keeps growing. On average, the annual salary of a 3D animator in the United Kingdom lies somewhere between £25,000 and £50,000. Combining the creative skills of
graphic design, photography, 3D visual communication and animation with live video production and events radio webcasts, our courses in interactive design technologies will prepare our learners for the new digital age. Would you like to be a mobile app developer? Students studying on the apps design and programming courses at the Academy will have the skills they need to succeed in this growing industry. There are more companies looking to build mobile apps than developers available to take these jobs. With market demand continuing to require apps to run on IOS, Android and other operating systems which will power the next generation of Smart devices, companies are

PROFESSIONAL STUDIES AT THE ACADEMY
Law And Legal Studies We live within a legal framework and the law governs our conduct in society. Almost every day we are affected by the law - our behaviour, our conduct and even when we buy something, we make a contract with the provider to pay for the goods we are buying. The practical legal courses at the Academy give learners a good understanding of the law of the land. During their studies, students take part in legal debate, visit legal institutions and gain insights into different types of law. Learners will understand the meaning of law, its role, its purpose and key features of different areas of law. These legal courses prepare students well

entry to higher education or into employment in a marketing role.
Marketing
Team Leading
The marketing qualifications engage learners who have an interest in understanding the dynamics of how businesses promote their products. These practical, ‘hands-on’ courses help learners to understand why it is so important in today’s highly competitive world for companies to market their products effectively to support them to meet their business objectives.
Studying these qualifications provides an excellent platform for developing team working skills. Learners are encouraged to develop the skills they need to gain meaningful employment. Team leading qualifications provide the foundation for learners to develop skills in leading a team, making sure the team achieves its organisational objectives and will ensure learners have the skills of contributing, planning and problem solving. Learners will appreciate how to reach the desired outcomes for the team to perform effectively.
During their studies learners will understand how the changing needs of customers have an impact on how marketing strategy is formed and the courses provide
GAMING AT THE ACADEMY
The computer games and media industries are some of the largest and fastest growing industries in the world. The UK media industry has grown by 47% in the last five years and this growth is predicted to continue with the market forecasted to reach £26 billion by 2013. The next generation of consoles and handheld games along with the introduction of software capable of downloading games will boost the industry even more. The creative media industry has rapidly grown because of the constant change in technology,
and this growth is predicted to continue and expand because technology is always evolving. People don’t always realise that when they are watching the latest digitally animated movie, using a website, or playing their favourite games on Playstation 3, they are doing so because of the efforts and skills of those who work in the exciting and ever growing creative media industry. This is an exciting industry in which to work and just like the ‘behind the scenes’ people who help create movies, music CDs, and television programmes, the people in the creative media industry are an integral part of the team who shape the way we live,
work and use our leisure time. Workers in the media industry come from a wide range of educational backgrounds, but they all share a passion for the jobs they do and all are focused on doing the best job they can. Workers in these industries will often be faced with technical and creative challenges, but it is these challenges, which make their jobs exciting. Working in the media industry demands specific job skills and staff need to be skilled, dedicated people with a blend of creative, technical and entrepreneurial skills.

We are also able to offer financial support with travel and childcare, depending upon your circumstances. Please ask at enrolment for details. Examination and Awarding Body Fees Examination and awarding body fees must be paid at enrolment. However, if you receive benefits you may be able to apply to the Learner Support Fund to have the fees paid or reimbursed. Please ask at enrolment for details. Employer Funding Course If your employer is sponsoring you for your course, please bring a letter confirming this, which has been signed by your employer on their letter headed paper, asking the College to invoice them (or a company cheque for the full amount).

If you are having any problems you should speak to your professional tutor straight away. Our part of the deal Once you submit your fully completed application we will let you know the outcome within a maximum of 10 working days. We will also inform you within this time frame if you do not qualify for any additional help. If you are not happy with your award, the first step is to contact the Customer Services team. They will check the award and make sure that you have received everything that you are entitled to and will explain how the application has been assessed. If you are still unhappy with the award, you should write a letter of appeal to the Head of Student Finance. The appeal must be made within 14 days of the date of the original decision; the Head of Student Finance will respond to the appeal within 10 working days.
