Domestic Music
Director’s welcome
This season celebrates the rich array of musical activity that took place in the private sphere of 18th century homes such as 25 Brook Street. Baroque music was perfectly placed in a domestic space. Composers could rehearse new pieces to select groups before taking them to larger venues, musicians could display and flaunt virtuoso talents in intimate spaces and audiences could have their insatiable desire for opera fulfilled by hearing the latest opera hits in reduced versions. Everyone was happy! See opposite for our picks of the ‘domestic music’ season
