Family Mediation for separating couples By Chris Myles, Director and Head of Family Law at Crombie Wilkinson Solicitors LLP

rom 6th April 2011 the Ministry of Justice has confirmed that Mediation Assessments prior to the issue of any relevant family proceedings is going to be required with very few exceptions. Is promotion of Mediation by the Government a positive solution to family problems or another attempt by the Government to save money? It is widely recognised by Lawyers, Mediators and the Courts that an agreement between the parties rather than one enforced by the Court is far more satisfactory and is more likely to last. The couple can feel that they have had greater involvement in the process. Mediation in itself is not a new concept although initial participation in Mediation was perhaps a • info@thehandymag.co.uk

little slow to take off. In recent years Lawyers have increasingly encouraged couples to attend Mediation to resolve their family disputes whether in relation to financial matters or children cases and it is now clearly recognised as a positive alternative to resolving family disputes. Where the parting is not amicable and matters cannot be agreed, then mediation is a safe environment in which to explore issues in an impartial and practical way. It can help retain a channel of communication between the couple and it gives the opportunity of setting out your own agenda, You can retain control over the outcome and it can be less expensive both emotionally and financially than ending up in court. Under the new agreement between judges and the Ministry of Justice, separating couples who want to use the courts, will now have to consider mediation first. If mediation is not a

workable option, because one party refuses to take part in it for example, the case can proceed to court. The Court however is expected to consider returning cases back to Mediation if the parties have not properly considered Mediation as an option. As a trained Family Mediator and solicitor I have seen many Clients that have benefited from resolving their disputes through Mediation rather than through Court. Mediation can help families to reach agreement that is suited to their particular family needs rather than having general settlement terms imposed upon them by a third party. axby is a town where modern commerce quite literally nestles in a historical setting.

Along The Village in the centre of town, banks, travel agents and shops are tucked comfortably into 18th and 19th century cottages, complete with old fireplaces and traditional beams. Being a historical town doesn’t make it a sleepy town, however. As a walk through the main streets on any week-day would demonstrate: in Haxby, business is brisk. axby’s population has been rocketing since the 1970s. It now stands at around 13,000 – 40 years ago that figure was 2,400, and in 1911 it was a cosy hamlet of 711. As well as growing in size, the population is growing older, which means the elderly and the very young form a focus of the town’s community activities. The Ethel Ward playing field is the place for sport and a good choice of play equipment is great for families – a Haxby Town Council survey a few years ago found it to be especially popular with 7 to 11year-olds, 67% of whom were also found to belong to local clubs. Annual events include a spring scarecrow festival, a Christmas tree festival and the town carnival. The Memorial Hall, also known as the heart of Haxby, is a focal point of activity in the town. Built as the Victorian Board School in 1876, it closed in the 1950s and was converted into a village hall by the Parish Council. A community campaign several years ago saved it from the bulldozers and the trustees are now working hard on fundraising and plans to refurbish it and add a sports hall. Joyce Widd, chairman of the trustees of Haxby Memorial Hall, said: “I’ve lived here for 44 years and brought up four children here – it’s changed a lot over the years, but to this day it has just the right mix of shops, local facilities and community spirit.” The blend of heritage and character with plenty of lively community and commercial activities make Haxby a thriving town to live, work and do business in.

The Village, Haxby in the early 1950’s

Haxby history

axby is a Norse name, and evidence of a Viking cross at St Mary’s Church and in a nearby garden identify it as a Viking settlement established around the ninth century. However, Roman pottery and a signet ring unearthed in the area suggest it was at least occupied, if not settled, hundreds of years earlier. It remained a rural farming community until the arrival of the railway in the 19th century. In 1862 it became a parish, around the same time as today’s landmark Victorian buildings, including the Memorial Hall and Haxby and Wiggington Methodist Church, were built. The station was closed in 1930; plans to reopen it were created in 2006 but shelved four years later. The creation of a Conservation Area in 1976 has enabled Haxby to retain its historical character, without constraining its commercial growth.

A passion for art in Haxby Vesna Milinkovic, local artist

aking the move to York from London earlier this year has been an important step. Every artist needs a certain amount of space to work, and this comes at a premium in London. More importantly however, is the strong creative community here, which comes into its own during York Open Studios, a superb initiative. Connecting with painters, print-makers and potters in the short time I’ve been here is proving to be an immensely rewarding experience. I’ve been sketching and painting since the early 80’s, but it was on discovering Mark Rothko’s art that really inspired me to paint abstract. I didn’t actually realise people were allowed to paint like that, can you imagine? Discovering abstract painting opened a whole new world for me, one that I have a great passion for.

If my work can inspire even a single person in my lifetime, then every brush stroke has purpose. Like music, art has the power to transport us emotionally, often beyond our everyday concerns, even just for a moment. This is such a gift in itself, the potential for art to profoundly move us in ways we can’t always articulate. However, the art industry has had its downsides; art has been coveted, obfuscated and treated as an exception for the minority, an elitist attitude that has no place today. Art is for everyone, simply because we all have the ability to feel powerful emotion, just like music. It’s an exciting prospect, to connect with my local community through abstract painting.

A Children’s Nursery for York

are given the trust to use it with respect – which works. They’re also given lots of freedom with the activities they choose, and are very much encouraged to pursue whatever they are interested in. For example, Helen said: “One child was very taken with outdoor cafes after a holiday in France, so we created a cafe-style area complete with tablecloths and ‘cappuccinos’, which was actually frothed milk. The children took turns working as waiters or cooks. They treated it with great solemnity – and they were learning social and grace skills, balancing through using the tray and writing skills from taking down the orders.” Helen bought the nursery

three years ago and, after a successful pilot of the Montessori method in Fulford, introduced it in Strensall shortly afterwards. There are currently more than 30 members of staff, a carefully-recruited selection of experienced mothers and younger newly-qualified staff, all of whom are trained in-house. Strensall nursery manager Helen Connelly is also Montessori International’s Yorkshire trainer, and the nursery plans to create a Montessori training company offering courses and distance learning to those wishing to train in the method. Helen Gration added: “When our staff go through the training, they are really inspired by it. A lot of it is already practised – for example, it was Maria

Montessori, the founder of these methods, who first introduced child-sized tables and chairs in schools 100 years ago. Children can be very able people to have around, but they also learn in a different way and much more quickly, and the training is all about accepting how these people will develop and allowing them to develop and run with their own interests.” She added: “Children have real purpose here. They are clever, ingenious. They are potential inventors, artists, explorers, parents. Each one learns everything without knowing it and that is why we ‘follow the child’, with great wonder and admiration. We look forward to the confident, independent children who set out to develop our world.”

Pasta with spring vegetables and lemon cream sauce

ake the most our wonderful local asparagus in this simple recipe for pasta and spring vegetables (I buy it from Sand Hutton Asparagus at Low Moor Farm). It’s best to use wide ribbons of pasta like fettuccine or tripoline to make the most of the sauce. You can if you prefer a lighter version, leave out the sauce and just toss the vegetables with some melted butter and olive oil. Frozen peas and broad beans are fine.

Ingredients (serves 4)

400g pasta 200g fresh asparagus 200g peas 200g broad beans 4 large handfuls of fresh spinach leaves

For the sauce

250ml double cream Juice and zest of 1 large lemon 1 tbsp each of finely chopped mint, chives and basil Grated Parmesan cheese to serve 1. Mix all the ingredients for the sauce in a large pan and season to taste with salt and black pepper. . Blanch the peas in salted boiling water until they are just cooked, drain and keep to one side in a bowl. 3. Blanch the broad beans for 2 or 3 minutes until tender, drain and refresh with cold water to cool them down. Gently remove the beans from their skins although this isn’t essential it does improve the appearance of the dish. Reserve with the peas. . Wash the asparagus and snap off the bottom of the stalks. Cut off the top 2” of the tip and then slice on the diagonal. Blanch until tender, 2 – 3 minutes, then add the spinach leaves. 34 • info@thehandymag.co.uk

The spinach will wilt immediately, drain and add to the peas and broad beans. 5. Cook the pasta in a large saucepan of salted water following the pack timings. 6. When the pasta is cooked, drain it quickly and return to the pan with a little of the cooking water (alternatively, take out about a cup of water before you drain it). Add the vegetables and the lemon cream sauce and gently toss until combined. Cook gently for a minute or two to heat through. 7. Serve with grated Parmesan cheese. 8. To make a more substantial meal serve it with chopped chunks of pan fried chicken breast or cubes of bacon.

It’s great to be joining you on a regular basis, especially when the subject is gardening! I’ll be giving you some hints and tips for what to be doing in your own gardens, letting you know what I’m up to in mine, and in the process hopefully inspiring you to get out in to the garden more, enjoy everything it has to offer, and achieve some pretty impressive results yourself.

elcome to May, one of the fastest moving months in the gardening year. May is the month when plants just keep on and on growing and developing. New transplants, recently allowed to enjoy the ‘great outdoors’ after an early start in a greenhouse, wait a week or two and then POW! they’re off, and showing you their potential. Old established garden friends, their roots well down in the soil, put on new leaves, stem growth, flower buds maybe even flowers and enjoy the fact that whilst the weather has warmed up, they’ve not yet been hit by growthrestricting drier conditions of summer. It’s a month when it is hard not to feel a regular desire to grab a trowel (or perhaps a fork, spade or cultivator) and get out there and enjoy yourself while at the same time giving the garden and its plants the TLC that’s deserved. What better way to spend an hour or two….or perhaps even a day or two? With the massive surge in interest in growing your own vegetables, vegetable plants and seeds are available just about everywhere, so there are no excuses for not giving 38 • info@thehandymag.co.uk

Even if time is short or space at a premium, it really is worth growing a few crops – the feeling of self-satisfaction when you make that first harvest is just SO good....not to mention the taste of the crops themselves. At this time of year you can sow seeds of many vegetables direct into the soil or large pots of multi-purpose compost. Try your hand at climbing French beans, dwarf French beans, runner beans, carrots, salad leaves, spinach or peas. I also adore home grown sweetcorn; this too can be sown direct now, but make sure you sow the seed in a square e.g. four rows of four seeds, formed in to a square (it is a wind pollinated crop and this is the way to get good, well-filled cobs). It is a bit late to raise your own courgettes, squash, tomatoes or peppers from seed, but there should be plenty of young plants available in local nurseries or garden centres – just make sure you buy a variety of tomato or pepper suitable for growing outdoors if you don’t have a greenhouse (the label should make this clear). It is worth spending a few minutes to check flower beds and borders, however small or

large, as at this time of year they are a hive of activity. I just have masses of twiggy pea-sticks (well branched prunings will do) and have driven them in around the edges of several herbaceous perennials. So many of these lovely plants are inclined to flop disastrously later in the year, but supported subtly now, they’ll remain upright. As I do this I always spot a few other things that need seeing to as well. All the lovely lush growth means that (in my garden at least) slugs and snails are having a fantastic time devastating the tender new leaves. When I put new plants in the ground I scatter oyster shell around the soil beneath the plants. It is readily available from local suppliers of chicken feed, and is by far the best barrier to slugs and snails that I know....and bought in this way, it does not cost a fortune either. Early aphid (greenfly and blackfly) infestations are also likely to be building up now, and dealt with promptly they are unlikely to cause too much damage – a gentle but firm squash between finger and thumb works a treat, or for those less partial to direct action like

MAY 2011 • issue 68 this, spray with a fatty-acid or soap-based spray late in the day when bees are no longer about. With most of the gardening year ahead feeding makes sense too. So whether you have a wellstocked compost heap, or prefer to use fertilisers from the garden centre, apply them now so that your flowers, fruits and veg have a chance to make best use of them.

Golden Rules: •

Make sure that seedlings and young plants get enough natural light.

•

Gradually harden off young plants before planting them out.

•

In warmer areas, start to plant out more tender crops, but protect with cloches at first.

•

Tomatoes in containers need regular feeding with a liquid tomato food.

•

Treat yourself to some summer bedding for a really lively terrace-container, but check the forecast carefully before planting them out.

Charity chain gang saddle up for ride of their lives

f you get saddle-sore peddling to work on your bike, then spare a thought for Neil Huntington, Jamie Winspear and Steve Carlyle, who are going to cycle more than 1,000 miles across the entire length of Great Britain to raise money for charity. The big-hearted trio from York have decided to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats to generate much-needed cash for Yorkshire Cancer Research. It’s going to take the ‘chain gang’ nine days to complete the mammoth challenge, stopping each evening after approximately 120 miles or so for much-needed sleep and food. Training has already started for the big ride, which pushes off from Land’s End on Friday 10 June. Now a rallying call is going out to help with the fund-raising and associated support. “We’re doing all this to help a truly wonderful cause,” said Neil, who is an Independent Financial Adviser from Hessay. “Every penny we raise will be spent in Yorkshire, helping local people beat cancer and supporting world-class research, diagnosis and treatment in our region.” Training Consultant Steve, whose wife Amanda recovered recently from breast cancer, said: “We all know someone who has been touched by cancer and it’s a terrible experience. The more we can help Yorkshire Cancer Research, the more they can improve people’s lives.” The three bike-e-teers have made it easy for people to sponsor and support them. The first company to steer in with help is Ripon Land Rover, of Hutton Bank in Ripon. Bosses there are donating a support vehicle which will follow the cyclists along their route. But not all insects on trees and shrubs are damaging, some are beneficial and may help pollinate flowers or could be predators or parasites on insects that damage plants. Under attack from Horse Chestnut Leaf Miner The Leaf Miner arrived in the UK about 8-9 years ago, the caterpillar Treated vs non-treated feeds within the leaves of the Horse Chestnut causing distinct translucent tunnels on the upper surface which eventually form brown dead patches, giving the tree an autumnal appearance by July and resulting in early leaf fall. Recent evidence indicates that this insect can cause smaller trees to die while, the reduced photosynthetic ability may affect growth, and the cumulative loss in stored food products may compromise long-term health of mature trees. Research in the Bartlett laboratory at Reading University has been evaluating a range of control measures for this pest. The best results were obtained from a single soil drench of the product Admire, when control ranged from 80-100% over the entire growing season, in some cases two years control was achieved.

Bleeding Canker/ Root Rot WHAT IS IT ? Bleeding Canker is a bacterial not fungal disease which affects the common Horse Chestnut, Beech, Lime, Sycamore, Birch and Alder. It affects branches and trunks of trees, which start oozing a red or black tarry substance from the affected lesions on the bark. This usually develops from ground level upwards and is caused by a bacterial infection which kills the cambium (bark). The infection is then likely to spread around the trunk

or branch causing decline, yellowing of the foliage and reduced leaf size.

The disease affects all ages of Horse Chestnut from saplings to mature specimens. This becomes a particular problem in mature trees as once severely infected the timber becomes brittle and highly likely to fracture and fail.

Following recent adverse weather conditions trees are subject to extreme forces of nature which may result in structurally unsound/ diseased trees failing in part or full.

IS THERE A CONTROL? The good news is that the Bartlett laboratory, under the supervision of Dr Glynn Percival, has achieved good results using a Phosphite based treatment. The recovery of infected trees caught early in the disease cycle has exceeded all expectations, thus a simple procedure provides great results in preserving cherished trees.

Fertilisation Ensuring adequate nutrition is as important for trees as it is for people. A number of tree and shrub problems start because of nutrient deficiencies and other soil problems. Nutrition, compaction of the soil and availability of water all affect plant growth.

Nitrogen deficient

The consequences can be expensive if a tree fails, with possible injuries / fatalities, when trees are not monitored by a professional arborist. Failures can be avoided by having trees inspected every 12-18 months. Bartlett can carry out a complimentary annual inspection of your tree!

Fertilisation should be tailored to the specific requirements of the plant to ensure maximum effectiveness. Local field observations combined with soil analysis yields the best results. 1. Changes to Self Employed NIC (‘stamp’) payments.

If you are self employed you will have got used to paying your Class 2 NIC payments by monthly direct debit or by quarterly bill from the Tax Office. This year will see some changes to this arrangement.

Simplification? HMRC believe the payment of NIC should be aligned with the Income Tax payments in July and January each year. What this means is that no direct debits will be collected from April to July 2011 and monthly collections will then restart again in August 2011. This year is the only year that there will be a gap in payments. HMRC will no longer issue quarterly bills but

will issue two bills each year, in October and April, for the NIC due.

The option to pay quarterly is no longer available but there is now the additional option to pay your Class 2 NIC electronically by two payments in July and January. For the year 2011/12 this will be payments of £65 in both January and July 2012.

Car companies turn over billions of pounds every year and bank millions in profits – but which cars are the most profitable?

It’s a question we’ve been pondering for some time. All car manufacturers can flog a car, but what makes the difference between a bumper profit margin and a tiny one? Well, we asked a host of industry experts, professors and insiders to help us come up with this list. They told us cutting costs and maximising returns in the automotive world is all about sharing expertise and platforms – do that and car manufacturers can dramatically increase their profits. Here are some of the cars that our experts believe are real cash cows for their makers.

BMW 3-Series

It’s the salesman’s milemuncher, but its premium price and relatively cheap production costs mark the 3-Series out as a winner for the marque. Our experts said it was mostly down to excellent cost control, the fact cars are often highly specified and usually sold for a premium over similar-sized cars like the Ford Mondeo.

McLaren MP4-12C

One of the shock cars to emerge from our research was the new McLaren. Although development costs are high, the actual car is relatively inexpensive to make in relation to the high retail price. Our experts said the carbon chassis could be the cheapest to produce ever while many physical components have been replaced by more costeffective electronics. If they sell the numbers forecast at between £160-170k it could be one of the most profitable cars ever!

Range Rover Sport

Aston Martin Cygnet

The Range Rover Sport benefits from all factors that make a model profitable: It’s based on an existing chassis (Defender) which keeps build costs low. It’s sold for a premium with lots of added extras. And it’s been kept on sale for a long period of time without a major redesign. All these add up to a holy grail in terms of profitability.

Ok, we know this hasn’t arrived yet, but the baby Aston has the potential to be a real profit centre for the maker. Essentially rebadging a Toyota iQ and charging £30k-plus for it – and that’s before buyers have shelled out on extras – could spell happy times for the marque. However, despite its potential, our experts warned this would only be possible if buyers like it…

Described by our experts as ‘the daddy’ of platform sharing, VW isn’t one of the most profitable makers without good reason! The Golf is responsible for two million units a year and currently provides underpinnings for a huge array of Seat, Audi, Skoda and other VW models. Many are sold for a premium but cost no more to make, adding a healthy balance to VW’s bottom line every year.

It’s not just cars that add substantially to a manufacturer’s bottom lines – vans do too! Cappadocia Framed by the Taurus mountains to the south, the high plateau of Cappadocia lies in central Turkey, a land bristling with volcanic features, known as ‘fairy chimneys’, and carved with ancient underground cities and rock churches.

or early Christians and others who farmed the surrounding land, living underground was safe, cool in summer, warm in winter and whenever you needed extra space, you could just dig another room in the relatively soft stone. Stables were near the top, accessed down a ramp, while further down was a network of communal kitchens, sleeping quarters, stores, niches for oil lamps, wine cellars and chapels. The cities ran seven floors deep, often more, with air shafts, wells and millstones (complete with peepholes) which could block the tunnels in time of danger. Many such cities remain undiscovered but 36 have been identified, a few partially opened to visitors who file through narrow passageways, stooping right down at times with the occasional moment of panic but rarely a chance to turn back. The largest city is Kaymakli, the deepest Derinkuyu. Both are on the tourist trail. Meanwhile above ground,

nature has shaped the most fantastic fairyland, eroding the soft tufa layer left by eruptions to uncover tall columns of hard rock marching through the countryside like a giant army. Some, capped with basalt, look like overgrown mushrooms, others come to a point like pixies’ hats, many are pierced with the dark holes of troglodyte dwellings. Large or small, these so-called fairy chimneys come in twos or threes, or familysized groups, while here and there sculpted ridges cling to curving slopes the colour of cappuccino. At over 1000 metres, the little town of Ürgüp is a convenient place to stay, with its share of fairy chimneys, its rock-hewn houses turned into cave hotels and on the doorstep, a whole flotilla of hot air balloons offering the ride of a lifetime. Every morning, they rise above Red Valley, packed with wide-eyed tourists, gliding high above it all or dipping down for a close-up view. Back on land, the astonishing moonscape stretches as far as you can see, Pigeon Valley, Hunters Valley, Uchisar, and when you reach the best viewpoints, cameras clicking all around, you almost forget to browse the souvenir stalls brimming with pottery, turquoise and pashmina. But there is more to this land than caves and fairy chimneys.

Not so far away among the vineyards, the Göreme Open Air Museum preserves some of Cappadocia’s finest rock-cut monasteries and churches, dating back to the early days of Christianity. Footpaths and steps lead you from one chapel to the next where wall paintings and frescoes in earthy tones depict scenes from the New Testament, or St Theodore and St George slaying the dragon. Most decorations are from the 11th to 13th centuries but there are earlier examples. Carved into rock or cliff, every chapel has a story to tell. Sandals is named after mysterious footprints, the Dark Church was a pigeon house, and you find a Snake Church, home of the dragon, an Apple Church, once near an orchard, Santa Barbara, where red lines were drawn on the vault to imitate brick, and the beautifully restored Tokali, with gleaming lapis lazuli in its newer section. At the entrance to the complex, the Nunnery rises on several floors, church and cells cut into the towering rock and just like in the underground cities, connected by tunnels with millstone doors. Cappadocia is indeed like nowhere else in Turkey, equally stunning above and underground. By Solange Hando

Born to a feral mum they were placed with a fosterer to begin socialisation. At five months old they were brought to us along with their two sisters, Adella & Atina. It was a nervous start for all the girls and they kept tight to their beds and remained hidden under blankets. After further socialisation by staff and dedicated volunteers the girls started to come out of their shells and Adella & Atina found themselves new homes. Andrina & Arista are still looking for their new home where they can live together and gain more confidence. Arista is the more confident of the two and loves playing with her toy mouse but both will demand attention when food is around! A lady who certainly doesn’t require confidence building is Ellie. Ellie is now our longest stay cat and is getting rather fed up of adoption centre life. She’s a chunky lady full of personality who would be great with a new owner who likes a cat with character. Does your pet have pets? - Know your parasites! Myosis (fly strike) mainly

parasite is an organism that takes it’s nourishment from another organism. Worms are an example of an endoparasite that live within the host, and fleas are an example of an ectoparasite that live on the host. Some parasites can be life threatening to both animal and human, however most can be prevented or treated by using flea and worm treatments on a regular basis.

Fleas and ticks are often

seen but people are not always aware that ticks can carry diseases such as lymes disease and pets can become affected via a tick bite. Fleas are known as a hyperparasite meaning that they carry another parasite within them, in this case, the tapeworm. If your pet ingests a flea through grooming or eating a rodent with fleas it can get tapeworm. Some pets suffer with a flea allergic dermatitis which can be controlled if the fleas are eliminated. Using frontline every 5 weeks for cats and 8 weeks in dogs will keep your pets free from ticks, fleas and biting lice. During the summer in areas with a high tick population use frontline every month to kill ticks.

affects rabbits who are not cleaned out regularly this attracts flies to lay their eggs on the rabbit which hatch into maggots and eat away at the flesh. However it can affect any animal that cannot clean itself properly. The maggots multiply very quickly and can kill the rabbit by the time the owner notices the rabbit is unwell. In order to prevent this owners should be clean the hutch regularly and check the rabbits bottom is clean on a daily basis. The products Rear guard and f10 spray can be applied to the skin and act as a repellant and the later also has antibacterial properties.

Ear Mites affect some

animals and cause a thick black wax to form in the ears, they are very itchy and the animal will scratch at its ears and shake its head a lot. Using Stronghold or Advocate spot ons every month will treat ear mites.

Roundworm look like

spaghetti and if allowed to multiply they can cause an intestinal blockage leading to constipation and possibly death. These can also be passed to humans and cause blindness.

Hookworms are small thin

parasites that penetrate the skin via through contaminated soil then fasten to the intestine and suck blood. These can cause a dermatitis in humans.

Whipworms are not visible to the naked eye and are hardest to treat. Symptoms include heavy diarrhoea, flatulence, weight loss, fatigue and poor condition.

Tapeworm are long, flat

and segmented and attach to the small intestine, segments of the body break off and pass out in the faeces. These often present like small grains of rice around the anus. Although they are not directly passed to humans it is possible to ingest a flea accidentally and become infected with tapeworm.

Lungworm can be fatal.

Dogs that eat slugs and snails or grass covered in their slime can become infected with lungworm as they carry the parasite. Dogs then spread the parasite in their faeces. Lungworm can be prevented by using advocate spot on every month. Milbemax treats Roundworm, hookworms, tapeworm and can prevent heartworm ( a disease transmitted by mosquitoes seen on continental Europe). For cats that are difficult to give tablets, a spot on preparation is available called Profender. Worming is recommended every month up to 6 months of age then at three monthly intervals thereafter to ensure regular treatment. However it is worth noting that apart most wormers will just clear out the worms that are present in the animal at the time of treatment therefore if it then goes on to eat a rodent or faeces that is carrying the parasite they will become reinfected. In animals that hunt regularly, monthly worming may be advisable as the worm cycle take a month to complete so your pet will stay worm free.
