CANACTIVO Bogotá, Colombia
YEAR
2013 SIZE
107 ha DESCRIPTION AECOM was invited to participate in an international ideas competition for the design of a new National Administration Center (CAN) in Bogotá. In partnership with Colombia’s largest real estate developer, the multi-disciplinary design team transformed an inefficient, 100-hectare government complex into high performance, mixed use district that embodies and symbolizes the values of a society and nation that is enjoying an era of stability and prosperity. Called CANACTIVO, a mix of cultural, office, commercial and residential uses surround the government center to promote connectivity with the existing urban environment as well as new opportunities for government partnerships in the Colombian capital.

BERKELEY GLOBAL CAMPUS Richmond, CA
YEAR
2015 SIZE
24 ac DESCRIPTION AECOM was selected as a finalist firm participating in a design concepts development exercise for the University of California Berkeley. UC Berkeley has envisioned a new global campus on the San Francisco Bay waterfront within the city of Richmond. This 24-acre campus would draw not only the world’s finest academic institutions, but private sector companies, to create an ecosystem of innovation and education. AECOM’s multidisciplinary team proposed to maximize the waterfront wetlands as a barrier to the rising sea level, and extend the prairie horizontally into the developed areas to create public space around which buildings would be clustered to create dynamic indoor-outdoor environments.

GOLDEN TRIANGLE MANUFACTURING Central Mexico
YEAR
2013 - 2015 SIZE
300 - 1000 ha (varies) DESCRIPTION Multiple developers in Mexico have commissioned AECOM Design + Planning to develop concept master plans for five large industrial parks in Mexico’s Golden Triangle - the area between Monterey, Mexico City and Guadalajara which accounts for 80% of the country’s consumer market and 70% of the exports. The master plans include anchor tenants as well as hundreds of flexible parcel sizes tailored to the market study for the region. In addition to industrial uses, the parks include community and commercial centers with business centers, offices, hotels, and retail spaces. Each plan includes an extensive open space network providing off-street pedestrian and bicycle circulation, activity space for employees, and stormwater management.

QATAR ECONOMIC ZONE Doha, Qatar
YEAR
2014 - 2015 SIZE
398 ha DESCRIPTION AECOM was commissioned by Manateq to produce a detailed master plan for a nearly 4 km2 parcel just south of the primary airport. QEZ is planned to emerge as a logistics and advanced technology hub to assist the increasing global trade demands and on-going economic diversification in Doha. The master plan will provide a safe and secure environment to store and transfer goods as part of the import and export processes associated with the cargo operations of the Hamad International Airport (HIA). The final master plan submittal to local authorities included over 400 plot sheets as well as unique volumes for planning regulations and design guidelines on the three phases of the project. This development is currently under construction.
