BY JOSE ROZAY
Welcome back Happy Munkey fam to the September edition of Kickz for the Kulture. As you know this month, we are celebrating Happymunkey’s 4th anniversary. In commemoration of the 4th anniversary of the brand, I have put attention to the highly coveted Air Jordan 4s and the huge impact they have made in the sneaker culture. The Air Jordan 4 is the fourth signature sneaker to be released in 1989 for Michael Jordan and Nike Jordan brand. It was Tinker Hatfield’s second shoe designed for Nike, so it’s no surprise you see so many similarities with the Air Jordan 3’s which was released first. Similarities like the visible Nike air max cushion, which is no surprise because Tinker Hatfield is the visible air max master. Tinker made the Air Jordan 4s distinct by introducing a netting on the upper part of the shoe and adding plastic lace eyelids for weight reduction making it a unique shoe design. The air Jordan 4s gained hyped and tagged “The Shot” after the classic buzzer-beater jump-shot Michael Jordan made on the Cleveland Cavaliers to win a playoff series. Ever since 1989, the air Jordan 4 show has been re-released several times, and every time they are more loved and valued than before. Below I will highlight four of my personal favorite air Jordan 4 colorways of all time.

In conclusion, the Air Jordan 4 is indeed an important sneaker in the evolution of sneakers and shall continue to be a heavy hitter and a sneaker to always look out for. We the good folks at Happymunkey would also love our brand to be just as important in the canna community. Thank you all for continuous support because without ya we wouldn’t be saying happy 4th anniversary!!!! Until the next one always Choose Happy…
Air Jordan 4 | Black/cement
The must-have colorway because it goes with everything. The signature colorway of the air Jordan 4s. I don’t know anyone who dislikes these. You can catch Spike Lee wearing In the classic film “do the right thing.”
Air Jordan 4 | Retro Kaws
Let me take you back to 2017 when Kaws and Jordan brand made the ultimate collaboration and created the most expensive air Jordan 4 in the resell market. The all-grey suede shoe is a beauty but what makes them so valuable was how difficult it was to obtain since they were only released in a special release event inside the Brooklyn Museum.
Air Jordan 4 | Offwhite/sail
In 2020 the midst of a pandemic, Virgil Abloh collaborated with Jordan on one of the most beautiful air Jordan 4s ever created. A smooth-off white mostly sail upper and a sail-colored clear sole make these an art piece in my eyes.
Air Jordan 4 | Travis Scott Cactus Jack
2018 was a huge year for recording artist Travis Scott but he really put on for the culture when he collaborated with Jordan on an Air Jordan 4 shoe. This Air Jordan 4 s was special because of the baby blue suede and red details that commemorated the Houston Oilers. One of the highest valued shoes on the resell market and an instant classic colorway. PAGE 59
