Read the text about the school system in Italy. Answer the questions below.

Hi. My name´s Luigi and I´m 11 years old. I´m from Rome, Italy. I want to tell you about the school system in my country. The school days are from Monday to Saturday. Lessons start at 8 a.m. and finish at 1 p.m. Education is free and compulsory for all children between 6-16. We don´t wear a school uniform. Compulsory education has got two stages:

- 5 years of primary school for 6-11year olds

- 5 years of secondary school for 11-16 year olds

When children are 11, they go on to a lower secondary school until they are 14. At this age they continue their study at an upper secondary school they choose. The first two years are compulsory, the other three years are optional. At the end of year 5 they take an exam called ´esamedimaturita´ (British ´A-level´ , Czech ´maturita´). Then the students can go to university. There are three main holidays: Christmas holidays for two weeks, Easter holidays for one week and summer holidays for three months!

1. Where does Luigi live?

2. Which days do children go to school?

3. How long are children at school every day?

4. Do they wear a school uniform?

5. How long is the compulsory education?

6. How many main holidays are there?
