Pilates Workouts Pilates today and especially Pilates classes are more popular today than ever before – why? Because in general pilates can improve your overall health. Pilates classes also provide valuable exercises that can help you lose weight. You’ll find in a pilates class there are several different levels within a good pilates class, and if you are a beginner you’ll be first shown a quite simple workout programme. As time progresses and your skills improve you’ll be taught the more difficult workouts as you move through the different levels of a pilates class. During your very first pilates class you’ll find the trainers will guide you safely through each and every step along the way so you perform all the pilates movements properly and effectively. Let’s look at some of the stages of pilates classes. ● Novice or a beginner class – this is designed primarily to see how flexible you are; the exercises performed in these pilates classes are generally quite easy with more focus placed on your mind and relaxation. You may find you are offered a workout using a pilates ball, this can help you achieve perfection and balance while performing your pilates routine. During a beginners pilates class great importance can also be placed on working pads. Most newcomers to a pilates class are trained on the *one hundred workout* which has been developed to reinforce your torso muscles. Well known pilates exercises for beginners include – one leg stretch, roll-ups, spine stretch and one leg circle. ● Intermediate stage pilates classes – this is considered a *bridge* from the beginner stage to the advanced level. If you perform and practice these exercises regularly most people can tolerate the level of difficulty. Some of the best intermediate exercises in a pilates class include - the neck pull, sidekick, shoulder bridge and the double leg.

Advanced pilates workout classes – any person can perform the advanced level of pilates but only after mastering the intermediate stage. If you don’t take the steps of learning from beginner to intermediate you will struggle to perform the advanced pilates class workouts. By practicing the previous levels of pilates exercises it shows that you are in fact ready to take on a more complex pilates class. Some of the exercises practiced in an advanced pilates workout class include hip and spin twists, swimming, the cork screw and push-ups. Pilates is a great workout for both your mind and body, by tying together strengthening and lengthening exercises with controlled breathing techniques. You will feel better, walk taller, lose weight, breath better and just feel more relaxed and calm.
