Are you looking for a way to heat your small home, but you are worried that it is way too much for you to take on by yourself? This picture shows the total gas system that I used for my small home. It consists of a piece of 8 inch black metal pipe with two 1/2 inch tees on the inside and outside for a total cost of less than ten dollars. The most expensive part was having the two small propane tanks that I borrowed filled, and buying the regulator and two black hookup hoses that you see and I paid around $115.00 for that. The yellow hose can be found at home depot for less than $15.00 and it is 3/8 inch in size and I believe this was a 4 foot hose. Inside we have a Mr. Heater 10,000 btu heater that I bought from Amazon for around $135.00 and two valves from Home Depot for about $10.00 each. I chose two valves on the inside because one is for the heater and I will use the other one for a propane stove, or a cooktop like the one shown below.

Are you wondering how you will supply water for your small home? I decided to place some blocks on the ground to support the water containers that I was able to find here in central Texas for less than $150.00 each. My goal is to build a eight by 12 foot room on the back of my small home with a shed type roof. This way I can heat the room so that I do not need to worry about the water freezing, and since I am placing the tanks on the ground, and plan on building the floor out of deck materials surrounding the tanks, I do not need to worry about any floor damage should a water line break. The goal will be to collect rain water from the roof via a gutter system and hauling water in via the same type tank if necessary. If I place two of these containers, that will give me nearly six hundred gallons

and I will still have room for a washer and dryer to be powered from a generator. Propane for the hot water system and small space heater will be via a similar system as shown on the previous page.

View from the back porch. After the day is over, what do you do? Ever think about having your friends and neighbors over to show off the things you are doing? Ever think about just visiting over a drink, or even a meal? As this magazine grows, I hope that our View from the back porch section will serve as a means of allowing you to communicate your lessons learned, or even your concerns. This is your magazine.

Think of it as a combination of the old Mother Earth news and 73 magazine and many, many other how to magazines all rolled into one. Tell us what you want to see in this magazine so that you will want to read it as soon as it is released. After all, it will take all of us, working together, and sharing our knowledge to undo the effects that the massive offshoring of our jobs has created. Maybe you don’t want to write, but you do want to see pictures of your pet project shown so that people can see how

you developed your solution. Send them to us, and we will find a way to show them here because it might just be the solution that somebody else has been looking for. Unemployed, or unemployable like I appear to be? Tell us about it. That is the only way people will understand what we are doing to the people on both sides of this game of musical countries
