Benefits of Music Education:
There are many benefits to music education - but do you know the specifics? Check out the awesome things you are doing for your child and/or yourself by enrolling in music lessons and group classes! Improved Academic Skills Music and math go hand in hand. Yes! You really ARE learning more than just music when it comes to your lessons and classes. Beats, rhythms, and scales are teaching you division and fractions, and how to recognize patterns. In your music lesson and in your own practice, you are giving your brain an awesome workout! Developed Physical Skills Playing a musical instrument helps develop coordination. There are a variety of instruments that require different actions on the right and left hands simultaneously - piano, violin, guitar, and even percussion! Playing an instrument can help develop ambidexterity. Furthermore, music lessons and classes can even aid in preparation for other hobbies such as dance or sports. Cultivated Social Skills Participating in group music classes require interaction and communication with your peers. Classes like Kindermusik and Children’s Music Academy start introducing social integration at a young age. This encourages team work and enhances communication skills! Within a group class, children learn how to better understand their individual role within a group setting. Delayed Gratification vs. Instant Gratification Learning a musical instrument teaches the important concept of delayed gratification. You don’t magically become the next Mozart overnight! Playing an instrument teaches to perserver through hours and even months of regular practice to reach specific goals.
