MARCH 2018 | Inspiring Creativity Through the Arts
Recital - It’s Just Around the Corner! WOW, it’s already almost that time – Spring recital time! This year, our Spring Recital will be held on Friday, May 4th and Saturday, May 5th. The recital will be at Zion Church (5511 S. 27th St.). Here are the top 5 student and parent FAQs along with their answers!
Recital Sign-Up FAQs:
Q: When do we sign up? A: An online form will be sent out on Monday, March 19th at 12:30pm. Physical signup sheets will be available at the front desk starting that day, too! Students have until April 2nd to secure their recital spots – sign-up closes April 2nd. Q: Do I have to sign up for a time my instructor is present at the recital? A: Not at all. But, it’s encouraged – your instructors would LOVE to watch you perform! That being said, we understand that with the limited availability based around their teaching schedules, that your best performance time might not coincide with when they can be there. Q: Can we sign up for the teen/adult section if my student is younger than the recommended age (12-16 or 15+)? A: Our teen/adult sections are reserved for our teen and adult students to give them a unique recital experience along with their peers. These sections tend to fill completely and, while we strive to accommodate individual schedules as much as possible, we feel it is important to adhere to the set age range. Q: Can we call to schedule our recital time? A: We would be happy to go over options and any questions you may have over the phone, however, we request that you please sign up using our online scheduling survey or by filling out a physical form at the front desk. Q: How do I know if we need a piano accompanist for the performance? A: Please double check with your instructor to determine if you need a piano accompanist. If your instructor is able to play for you, then no accompanist fee is needed. If they cannot play for you, then they should direct you to fill out an accompanist request form. There is a $27.50 fee that covers rehearsal and performance with the accompanist. Q: My instructor isn’t available at (x) time! What do I do? A: Sorry about that! Our recital schedule for instructors is based on their teaching schedule, since lessons still occur on recital days. If they aren’t available at the recital, it’s likely that they’re still teaching. If that time is a must have, and your instructor doesn’t need to be present for your performance, you can sign up for it anyway. If it’s more important that your instructor is present for your performance, please select a different time when they are available.
