WHERE CLASSMATES BECOME FAMILY
We hail from all parts of the globe, but we will always come from the same home. The Harvard community is the greatest network in the world, and the Harvard Club of Boston is the one place where you can build or expand your Harvard community, reconnect with classmates, engage in lifelong learning, stay informed of Harvard news, and most importantly have a home that you can call your own.
You may no longer be a student, but the Harvard Club of Boston will always be here for you. We are your community. We are your family. We are your home.
PRESIDENT’S LETTER
Dear Fellow Members,
Life at our Club and at the University is as vibrant as ever. It is wonderful to see so many of you after your summer adventures using the clubhouse, attending events, and engaging in club life during September. On a recent Sunday afternoon, a robust crowd of members cheered on the Harvard and New Zealand Polo teams at the Myopia Polo Match. Along with a beautiful afternoon of fun and great polo it was delightful the have the former Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern, join us to enjoy the match.
The Inauguration of President Claudine Gay was great day that reminded all of us of the significance of Harvard University in the world of higher education. President Gay is a true servant leader who will work with all to chart a course for the University’s future. We look forward to her leadership, wisdom and guidance during her tenure.

We look forward to welcoming the Class of 2024 as members of our club upon graduation. The Harvard Alumni Association honored six alumni with the HAA Award for Extraordinary Service. Two of this year’s honorees are HCB members, Guy L. Fish AB ’81 and Alice E. Hill AB ’81, AM ’88, PhD ’91. Congratulations to Alice and Guy for this well-deserved honor.
Later this month, members will receive an email about our Club Committees. It will have descriptions of our committees, the process for joining committees, what
is expected of those who are chosen to serve, and which committees have current openings etc. Committees are great way to become more involved in our community and support our staff as they endeavor to provide exceptional member experience.
As our Club works towards improving our sustainability efforts, please note that starting in January of 2024 all monthly bills will be issued electronically. Club management is currently finalizing details of the plan and its implementation. Sustainability is one of the HCB’s core values and we continually strive to conserve and contribute to the world around us.
When members ask me what they can do to assist the club, there are two things that always come to mind. First, we want to see you at our events. We strive to provide exceptional opportunities for you to participate and engage in the life of our club. Second, spread the word, talk to fellow alumni about becoming members and invite them to do so. The most important asset of the Harvard Club of Boston is its members. Many thanks to all of you for choosing to be members of our beloved Club. Your loyalty and support make us thrive as a community, onward together. If you have questions or suggestions, please contact me directly via president@harvardclub.com.

GOING BACK TO T-TOWN BY CARMEN FIELDS
OCTOBER 25TH | 6:00PM – 7:00PM | PRESIDENT'S ROOM
There was a time when countless young people in the Midwest, South, and Southwest went to dances and stage shows to hear a territory band play. Territory bands traveled from town to town, performing jazz and swing music, and Tulsa-based musician Ernie Fields (1904–97) led one of the best. In Going Back to T-Town, Ernie’s daughter, Carmen Fields, tells a story of success, disappointment, and perseverance extending from the early jazz era to the 1960s. This is an enlightening account of how this talented musician and businessman navigated the hurdles of racial segregation during the Jim Crow era.
