PRESIDENT’S LETTER
Dear Fellow Members,
November was truly a month to remember at the Harvard Club of Boston. Our Member Gala transformed the clubhouse into a vibrant Day of the Dead celebration, welcoming nearly 600 members for an evening filled with connection, joy, and community. Witnessing members spanning seven decades come together to enjoy their Club and each other was an unforgettable reminder of what makes our HCB family so special. Thanksgiving Day was another highlight, as the Club buzzed with gratitude and togetherness, filling the clubhouse with warmth and appreciation. Every day we serve you, our members, we are reminded of how thankful we are for this incredible community.
It was equally memorable to welcome members from near and far to the Club and campus for Harvard-Yale weekend. Hearing the inspiring journey of Olympian Lauren Scruggs ’25 during Friday’s program was truly special, setting the tone for a weekend of connection. Cheering on the Crimson during The Game in the newly renovated Veritas Lounge brought us all together, celebrating the spirit of Go Crimson, One Harvard!
As we move into the holiday season, the Harvard Club becomes your festive escape. This year’s holiday décor and special surprises will make the clubhouse a warm and inviting space for all. Our event calendar is packed with something for everyone—from families to couples to those looking for a spirited evening out. Highlights include our magnificent Clubhouse Lighting Experience on December 4th, the always-beloved Santa Brunch, and a host of exciting events like Holiday Tea, Gingerbread House Making, Gin and
Ginger Adult Gingerbread House Decorating, Trivia Night, and Holiday Pops. Be sure to savor specialty holiday meals at Veritas and festive drinks in ClubPub as part of your seasonal celebrations.
This time of year, also reminds us of the strength of the Harvard community. We are thrilled to celebrate the achievement of eight Harvard students named Rhodes Scholars, the most from any institution this year. These remarkable individuals will pursue graduate studies at Oxford in fields ranging from neuroscience to political theory. Congratulations to Matthew Anzarouth, Lena R. Ashooh, Shahmir Aziz, Sofia L. Corona, Aneesh Muppidi, Ayush Noori, and Laura Wegner—the future of our Harvard community is indeed bright.
Here at the HCB, we also celebrate the vibrancy of our alumni network. This past year, we welcomed a record number of Class of 2023 and 2024 graduates into our membership, strengthening our bond as the alumni club for life. There’s no other place in the world where a first-year graduate and an 80-year graduate can come together to share stories, celebrate achievements, and build connections.
As the holiday season approaches, we would like to highlight the Employee Appreciation Holiday Fund, which you may have noticed on your most recent statement. Our incredible staff is at the heart of the service and welcoming atmosphere that define the HCB. The Holiday Fund provides us with an opportunity to show our appreciation for the team that works tirelessly to make the Club a special place for all of us. Each year, we
are overwhelmed not only by the generosity of your contributions but also by the extraordinary number of members who go above and beyond in their giving. Your support is a testament to the deep sense of community we share, and it means the world to our dedicated staff.
Congratulations are also in order for Andy Freed, who was recognized by the Harvard Varsity Club and Harvard Football for his outstanding dedication and service. Andy’s tireless efforts in support of Harvard Athletics and the Harvard Varsity Club, along with his leadership as a member of our Board of Governors and as cochair of the Member Experience Committee are truly inspiring. We are grateful for his unwavering commitment to the Club and its members.
The holiday season is a time for joy, reflection, and connection. Whether you’re attending a festive event, gathering with loved ones, exploring the world through our ever-expanding reciprocal network, or simply savoring the warmth and charm of our beautifully decorated clubhouse, we hope the HCB remains at the heart of your holiday traditions. Thank you for making this year so remarkable, and here’s to an even brighter season ahead.
As 2024 ends and 2025 is upon us, during this season of gatherings, may your days be filled laughter, fun and tears of joy. Let us be grateful for our Harvard Club of Boston community, saying that we are blessed is an understatement. Let us be thankful for the fellowship of our fellow members. Let us remember those who are no longer with us but live on in our memories.
As we embark on the season of appreciation and giving, may we be forever mindful of those who are struggling with life in ways that may or may not be obvious. May we all strive to maintain an attitude of gratitude not only during this season but throughout the new year.
Many thanks to all of you for choosing to be members of our beloved Club. As a member of the greatest alumni network in the world, thank you for filling our Club with a spirit of unity and congeniality, respect and kindness. Your loyalty and support make us thrive as a community, onward together. If you have questions or suggestions, please contact me directly via president@harvardclub.com.
I wish you and your loved ones all the blessings of the holiday season. Happy whatever you may celebrate and best wishes for a new year filled with good health, happiness and peace of mind. Please remember those who are less fortunate. Safe travels and be well.
Peace, Marcus O. P. DeFlorimonte gb ’95, pmd President, Harvard Club of Boston

GENERAL MANAGER’S LETTER
Dear Harvard Club of Boston Membership:
As 2024 comes to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible year we have shared as a community. This year has been marked by exceptional experiences, remarkable achievements, and the joy of welcoming new faces into our Harvard Club family.
We were especially thrilled to embrace the next generation of alumni, including the Harvard Class of 2024, into our vibrant community. It has been inspiring to see new connections form, ideas flourish, and our shared traditions continue to grow.
This year we also saw some exciting developments within the Club. The renovation of the Veritas Lounge has breathed new life into one of our most cherished spaces, while the introduction of mobile access to the Member Commons has brought greater convenience and security to our members. Our global reciprocal club network continues to expand, providing even more opportunities for our members to work and relax at some of the most prestigious clubs worldwide. Looking ahead, we are thrilled to share that a new outdoor patio is on the horizon, slated to debut this spring—just in time for us to make the most of New England’s beautiful weather.
None of this would be possible without you—our members. Your participation, enthusiasm, and support are the heartbeat of the Harvard Club of Boston. Together, we have made 2024 a year to remember, and we are filled with anticipation and excitement for what lies ahead. We are committed to making 2025 the most exciting year yet, filled with even more opportunities to connect, grow, and celebrate together.
I would also like to take this opportunity to extend my deepest gratitude to our exceptional staff. Their dedication to delivering outstanding service and creating memorable experiences is what makes the Harvard Club of Boston one of the top Platinum City Clubs in America.
As we raise a glass to the close of 2024, let us also toast to the friendships, achievements, and memories that make our Club so special. Thank you for being an integral part of our incredible community. Please feel free to reach out with any suggestions or comments you may have. Please feel free to contact me directly at scummings@harvardclub.com or (617) 450-8400 if I can be of service to you!
Here’s to a fantastic year behind us and an even brighter future ahead. Cheers to 2025!
Sincerely,
Steven P. Cummings, CCM, CCE General Manager

Memorable Member Moments
This past November, members experienced a wonderous collection of events and activities that educated and entertained. Leading off was the most incredible and magnificent Member Gala the Club has ever seen transforming the clubhouse into magical Dia de los Muertos celebration. This sold out event brings out the best in our amazing community delivering our cherished members a night of revelry that will be remembered forever. We continued to shake things up with a fantastic fall Mixology social that taught members new drink recipes while they socialized. Harvard-Yale weekend kicked off with Harvard's Olympic Fencing Medalist Lauren Scruggs '25 delivering an inspiring conversation detailing her remarkable story that led to her dominant performace on the world stage in Paris. Members cheered on the Crimson when they took the field vs. Yale in the 140th edition of The Game from the comfort of our cozy Lounge.

2024 Robert Banker Cup
The 2024 RBC was held on Friday November 15th, three draws were held and matches were electrifying!
Congratulations to the winners of the 2024 Robert Banker Cup Champion’s Francisco Carbajal and Audrey Wayne, defeating Sam Landay and Tim Monroe 3/1.
The longest match of the night was a battle that could have gone anyway, but in the end Wally Hyde and Jose Eguigure outlasted James Foley and Lovey Roundtree in the 5th game 15/13.
The Plate draw was a truly tough battle between Jack Wain and Hashem Sarhan beating Stephen Monk and Patricia Wada 15/14 in the 5th game! It does not get any closer than that!
A great night of squash and members battling it out on the doubles court followed by a fun presentation and evening in the ClubPub. Thank you to all that participated and played in the spirit that Robert Banker would be proud of.
