PRESIDENT’S LETTER
Dear Fellow Members,
I trust that you and your loved ones are well and hope 2025 is off to a successful start. Happy Lunar New Year to all in our Harvard community who celebrated. Here at the Harvard Club of Boston, we continue our stellar event planning as we have begun the year with great events and have many more in concept and planning leading into the spring and summer months.
In February, we look forward to cheering on our Harvard Crimson at our Beanpot Watch Party on February 3 and in the finals on February 10. We also are hosting a Super Bowl Party on February 9 in ClubPub. If you are hosting your own party or attending one, we are making it convenient for you to order all the food you need to make your party epic with a takeout service in Veritas. February is also American Heart Month and Black History Month. Please use our HCB app and the weekly Club Chronicle for events that celebrate the significance of the month.
On February 3, Phase Two of our mobile access program will be implemented. Phase Two includes access to our Fitness Center, locker rooms, and squash courts for members who play squash. If you need assistance activating mobile access card, please contact our Member Experience team.
The Harvard Alumni Association Nominating Committee has released its slate of candidates for the spring 2025 elections of new members to the Harvard Board of Overseers and elected directors of the Harvard Alumni Association. The HCB has two members that have been nominated as candidates. Courtney B. Vance ‘82 is a candidate for Overseer and Daniel Ahn ’90, M.B.A. ’97 is a candidate for HAA elected director. The voting website will be available from April 1 through 5:00 PM on May 14, 2025. Also, please mark your calendars for Wednesday, March 19th for HAA Global Networking Night.
There are some exciting clubhouse upgrades and additions planned for the next couple of months and into the spring. We will be adding more phone booths and seating in our Member Workspace along with an additional worktable in our Member Lounge. On our Lower Level we are adding a dedicated children’s room for our growing children’s programming. Many thanks to Jillian McGrath, member of our Board of Governors, along with HCB staff members Jackie Deschamps and Valerie Phillips for their initiative and diligence in making this a reality. Work continues on expanding our outdoor patio space. Our hope is that work will be completed in May with a grand opening sometime in June. Finally, we continue to explore ways that ensure our clubhouse asset provides value as part of the member experience. With that in mind, plans are being explored to upgrade our amenities and food service offerings in our Lower Level.
On January 16th, our HCB Catering Team received well deserved recognition for their work in the wedding hospitality industry. They were awarded a 2025 Wedding Pro Couple’s Choice Award. This award recognizes the top local wedding professionals who demonstrate superiority in quality, service, responsiveness and professionalism. Congratulations to our team of Jennifer Sepulveda, Hannah Larson, Chelsea King and Lindsey Deaton. Thank you for the work you do to make the special day for our member couples truly wonderful.
Many thanks to all of you for choosing to be members of our beloved Club. As a member of the greatest alumni network in the world, thank you for filling our Club with a spirit of unity and congeniality, respect and kindness. Go Crimson! One Harvard!
GENERAL MANAGER’S LETTER
Dear Harvard Club of Boston Membership:
The winter months in New England sometimes make us want to hibernate and stay home binging tv and indulge with comfort food. We have made it a priority to create a warm welcoming environment throughout the clubhouse by activating all three floors for members to relax, network, eat, drink, and work remotely. If you have not yet taken advantage of Member Commons on the third floor, we encourage you to come visit the space dedicated for members only. Here you can have your own individual workstation, soft seating, group project space, private phone booths for video calls, along with unlimited complimentary snacks and drinks.
Speaking of Member Commons, two months ago we upgraded our technology at the Club to include keyless entry using your Harvard Club of Boston mobile app. We have expanded this technology to include access to the Fitness Center, the men’s and women’s locker rooms, and the squash area. Soon, we will include this technology at the front and rear clubhouse entrances. This process will improve security throughout the club and make your life easier by not having to find a key card. Be sure to download the HCB app if you have not done so already.
Since we have a diverse membership community located around the world, we continue to provide exclusive access to more than 170 reciprocal clubs that offer services while you travel. Whether you need a hotel, remote workspace, dining, a workout facility, or just a place to feel comfortable we encourage you to review our list of reciprocal clubs and fill out a letter of introduction to book your visit.
Your feedback is invaluable to us. We are always striving to improve your membership value and ensure your experience at the Club is nothing short of exceptional. Please feel free to reach out with any suggestions or comments you may have.
Thank you for being a vital part of our community. All of us at the Harvard Club of Boston look forward to seeing you inside the clubhouse or at our next event!
Sincerely,
Steven P. Cummings, CCM, CCE General Manager

FIRESIDE CHAT Make Work Fair with Professor Iris Bohnet and Siri
Chilazi Ab '10, MBA '16, MPP '16
FEBRUARY 5TH | 6:00PM–8:00PM
| MASSACHUSETTS ROOM
Join us for an insightful fireside chat with the Albert Pratt Professor of Business and Government and the co-director of the Women and Public Policy Program at Harvard Kennedy School, Iris Bohnet and senior researcher at the Women and Public Policy Program at Harvard Kennedy School, Siri Chilazi as they delve into the challenges of achieving workplace fairness. Their new book, MAKE WORK FAIR: Data-Driven Design for Real Results, presents groundbreaking strategies to bridge the gender and equity gap in today’s workplaces. While progress has been made— women now own over 13 million businesses and hold 10.4% of Fortune 500 CEO positions—the gender pay gap and leadership disparity persist.
Bohnet and Chilazi reveal why traditional diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives often fall short, explaining that fairness must be embedded into the very structures and processes of organizations. Their evidence-backed framework focuses on behavior change over shifting attitudes, providing actionable solutions to create inclusive, equitable environments. Attendees will learn how to integrate fairness into everyday practices, motivate action, and build a culture where everyone can thrive, regardless of gender, race, or background.
This engaging discussion moderated by Dr. Robert Livingston, Lecturer in Public Policy at Harvard Kennedy School, will explore key myths, practical solutions for fostering fairness, and the importance of persistence in closing the gender gap. Whether you’re an employee or leader, MAKE WORK FAIR offers a blueprint to drive meaningful, long-lasting change in the workplace.
This event is offered at no charge as a benefit of your membership. Books can be pre-purchased at a discounted rate of $24 per book.
Appetizers will be served and a Member Bar will be available.
