BRINGING LA DOLCE VITA T O

After developing six unique and successful restaurants, HARWOOD District has added another concept to its repertoire. Dolce Riviera is an authentic Italian restaurant with a c ulinar y philos ophy cer tain to delight the most sophisticated palates. Dolce Riviera takes a step back in time to la dolce vita, an era attributed to the golden age of cinema and dynamic creativity. This whimsical, far-away feel is delightfully striking upon arrival. To approach the welcoming entrance, guests trace through an expertly manicured garden

patio that is reminiscent of a small giardino found in Italy. Canopied by a variety of trees, the garden is adorned with accents, such as stone twin fountains that date back to the 18 th century. The elements culminate to a serene setting for stunning al fresco dining. Inside, blue and white tablecloths span t h e d i n i ng s p a c e g i v i ng an i nt i m at e , light, and oceanic impression to those indulging in Dolce Riviera’s fine fare. The menu is reflective of true modern Italian cuisine executed with the highest degree of attention. Notable entrÊe selections include

Pappardelle Al Cacao, a house-made cocoa infused pasta dish, and Costata alla Griglia, a bone-in rib eye grilled to perfection and paired with Italian roasted fingerling potatoes drizzled with garlic and oil. Complementary aperitifs are crafted from the bar and the wine list features impeccable rarities from the early 1950s, 1970s, and 1990s. Dolce Riviera is located at 2950 N. Harwood St., Suite 115 and open for lunch and dinner by reservation. For more information, visit dolceriviera.com. See behind the scenes by following @dolcerivieradal on Instagram. Jimmy Stewart, Mick Jagger, Carol Burnett, Shirley Temple Black, Larry Hagman, Shirley Jones and Chuck Norris have all enjoyed the hospitality. The dinner concluded with dancing lessons for all to learn the Texas Two-step, Cotton-eyed Joe, and Line Dancing. Event design and florals by Todd Events. TACOS NOW AT

THE GROVE W R I T T E N B Y LY D I A B O Y C E

Something new rolled up to Dallas’ favorite urban backyard and it’s all Dallas can taco ‘bout. The Grove at Harwood introduced a taco truck to the HARWOOD District eatery lineup. To celebrate this new addition, The Grove set out on a #HARWOODSummer Taco Tour bringing the joy of delicious tacos to various locations. The tour kicked off at D Magazine, then ventured through the HARWOOD District with an interactive pop-up experience that included shaded patio seating, a fun photo setting, and complimentary refreshments. The new menu at The Grove features a duo of delicious sides, crisp Mexican refreshments, and these five flavor-packed handcrafted tacos: CAROLINA’S CHICKEN TINGA Shredded chicken breast with pickled red onions, cotija cheese and chipotle sour cream. With just the right amount of kick, Carolina’s Chicken Tinga is becoming a best-selling favorite. DE ALAMBRE A classic taco with diced chicken and a green tomatillo sauce. Don’t underestimate the simplicity of this taco perfecto. CARNITAS Crispy-edged seasoned pork cradled in a warm tortilla and paired with fresh pico de gallo and salsa roja. Trust us, you’ll want to order two, or three. AL PASTOR Marinated pork shoulder topped with grilled pineapple and jicama salsa. The pineapple gives a cool, sweet anecdote to the Texas summer. THE TEXICAN Rejoice, mexi-BBQ lovers. A few of your favorite things come together in this taco with expertly slow cooked shredded brisket, crunchy deep fried onion strings and smoky BBQ salsa. The Grove taco truck makes weekly afterparty appearances at Happiest Hour from 11 PM - 2 AM on Friday and Saturday night. Follow @HarwoodGrove on Instagram to see where the truck will go next on its tour through Dallas!

HARWOOD INTERNATIONAL WINS DURING AWARD SEASON W R I T T E N B Y LY D I A B O Y C E

The 2016 awards season in Dallas was a bright one for Harwood International’s developments in the HARWOOD District. The global real estate firm took home two awards from the city’s most prestigious award ceremonies for two of their latest projects. At the Dallas Business Journal’s annual award ceremony, Bleu Ciel won “Best Multi-Family Deal of 2015.” The award came just in time as the building began its ascent into the sky. After months of digging through hard Texas rock and building out the private garages, Bleu Ciel is quickly rising until it reaches its 33-story goal and sparkles in the Dallas skyline. What made this project stand out to the panel was not just the amenitydriven lifestyle complete with two junior Olympic pools and resident-only spa, it was that Bleu Ciel was part of the larger HARWOOD District vision. Harwood International is building a tower full of luxurious amenities and high design carried out through every detail in the 18-city block community. Harwood International’s expertise in master plan developments and design also earned them the “Excellence in Design and Architecture” award from D Magazine for the new Rolex Building. HDF, Harwood International’s in-house architecture and design group, collaborated with Tokyo-based Kengo Kuma & Associates to create the building’s unique rotating shape. Renowned landscape architect Sadafumi Uchiyama is accenting the building with tiered gardens and waterfalls that cascade over the side - an office space unlike any other in DFW. Harwood International is setting the standard for new developments in Dallas. With a focus on international design influence and pocket gardens, the real estate firm seeks an elevated experience for tenants and visitors to the district. The firm has several more developments in the works, including the recently announced HARWOOD No. 10, which will continue to bring unique retail and impactful architecture to its headquarters in Dallas.

“WHERE WHALES COME FROM” AT MAGNOLIAS: SOUS LE PONT

W R I T T E N B Y A L E X I E E S T R A DA

Every quarter, Magnolias: Sous Le Pont presents fresh artwork on display throughout the shop. To celebrate the exhibition “Where Whales Come From,” HARWOOD’s coziest coffee shop hosted the artist behind the works, Ken Craft, for a meet and greet with patrons while complimentary espresso and sweets were enjoyed. Live music filled the shop from the powerful acoustic duo Hunter&Savannah. Born in New Mexico and now based in Dallas, Craft’s work reflects an interest in representational scene painting alongside cartoon story telling. He’s influenced by a slew of talented artists including Gustave Courbet, Art Spiegelman, Gerhard Richter, Philip Guston, and George Herriman. He is creating original comic characters for his painting and the work is meant to exist as both traditional easel painting and as a form of comics. Craft himself has existed in two worlds for over 21 years now, maintaining a career as a professional firefighter while painting as often as he can. Represented by Ro2 Art, he has been in numerous group exhibits over the years in Dallas where he’s had three solo exhibits and most recently, a two-person show at Ro2 Art. In June 2015, he exhibited three paintings in a juried exhibit at Artspace 111 in Fort Worth, Texas and was awarded the Top Choice prize. He was invited to exhibit some of that same work recently in a group show at Mark Moore Gallery in Los Angeles.

Adele’s recent album 25 shattered records by debuting number one in 20 countries and the two Dallas shows are expected to sell out.

STARS HOCKEY After an impressive finish of first in the Western Conference but a tough loss in the second round of the Stanley Cup, the excitement for the return of the Stars season is already starting in Dallas. The hockey season kicks off at the American Airlines Center on October 13th against the Anaheim Ducks. Find your tickets at stars.nhl.com and make your reservations in the district for before the game bites and entertainment.

MAVERICKS BASKETBALL October means the start of the NBA season and the return of Dirk Nowitzki to the American Airlines Center. The first Dallas Mavericks game of the season in Dallas is October 28th against Texas rivals the Houston Rockets. The season continues with several games every month at the AAC, leaving you plenty of opportunity to check out this year’s roster. Purchase your tickets online at AmericanAirlinesCenter.com and join HARWOOD for pre-dinner bites or drinks to round out your evening.
