MODEL AND GOALS FOR THE UI ARCTIC INITIATIVE

The University of Iceland is a member of numerous networks and institutions focussing on the Arctic - University of the Arctic (UArctic). A cooperative network of universities,
colleges, research institutes and other organisations concerned with education and research in and about the North
- The Arctic Circle Assemblies. The largest international gathering on the Arctic, attended by more than 1,500 participants from over 40 countries. Held every October in ReykjavĂk, Iceland - The Icelandic Joint Committee on Arctic Affairs. Is under the auspices of the Icelandic Ministry for the Environment and Natural Resources - Icelandic Arctic Cooperation Network (IACN). Facilitates cooperation amongst Icelandic public and private organisations, institutions, businesses and bodies involved in Arctic issues
