Sweetfontein Boutique Farm Lodge Mr Lambrechts Owner
“The Karoo is a vast, open part of South Africa and this really came to our advantage these last two years. ”
What is your current biggest challenge competing on a global scale in a highly competitive industry? The covid pandemic had a major effect on the tourism industry in South Africa and because Sweetfontein’s market was primarily for leisure travelers this affected us greatly. Staying competitive in an industry that practically came to a halt was one of the biggest obstacles. South Africa is highly known as a tourism country and with such a vast number of places to visit we had to stay true to what we know. What differentiate the hotel from others in your opinion? Sweetfontein was designed with keeping the natural environment in mind and the harsh weather conditions in the Karoo, from extreme heat to

extreme cold. Taking the natural habitat and converting it into artwork is what truly makes it an artist’s playground. How do you remain competitive within your region in terms of the hotel’s offerings? The Karoo is a vast, open part of South Africa and this really came to our advantage these last two years. People wanted to relax (when they could) in an unpopulated vacation spot that offers al the luxuries and comfort of an upmarket Boutique Hotel you can find in the hottest spots in populated tourism cities offering luxury getaways in un-spoilt nature with clean air, limited access to the masses and a unique experience. How do you expect the association with Haute Grandeur will benefit your brand in the medium/ long run?
