We are proud to support St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild as they restore and modernize the historic Baxter House in benefit of Eskenazi Health. Their initiative inspires collaboration amongst the Indianapolis community.
“This home, originally built by my grandfather Ted Baxter in 1931, holds a special place in our family’s history. Recognizing the love and dedication he invested in it, I’m thrilled to see how it has been reimagined.”
- Kim Baxter, The Somerville Team
We are delighted to have you join us to tour “The Baxter House,” in the historic Meridian Kessler neighborhood. The presentation of this home, of French Norman architecture, continues the tradition of “The Country’s Longest Running Show House Event.”
Since September of 2024, 26 designers and landscapers have been working to put their signatures on this beautiful historic family home at 5676 N. Pennsylvania Street. Our hope is that guests will connect with the design trends and dramatic treatments, and imagine them in their own family homes. This home boasts beautifully situated indoor areas as well as stunning outdoor entertaining spaces with the hope of inspiring visitors to bring some ideas home with them.

The SMHG volunteers, the design board, and our talented designers and landscapers make this project beautiful. It would not be possible, however, without the support of our sponsors consisting of many local businesses, individuals, and groups. Without their support, SMHG would not be able to carry out a project of this scope. We encourage you to peruse their advertisements and we hope you make an effort to patron these generous donors.
St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild is committed to its mission to raise money for the programs and services of Eskenazi Health, which consists of the level one trauma center in Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital, and many medical centers located around the city. SMHG is in the final year of a four year, one million dollar commitment to support the John and Kathy Ackerman Professional Development center at the Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center. We are excited to explore a new opportunity to support Eskenazi and help the underserved in our community.
Sincerely,
Julie Qualkinbush

Caring for family members at home can take an emotional and physical toll. The result for Nancy was stress-related diabetes. That’s when she was introduced to LaTanya, a certified community health worker at Eskenazi Health. According to Nancy: “She’s a sweetheart. She has a spirit about her that’s very easy. She’s a very compassionate person.” Not all barriers to health are obvious. Thankfully new programs exist which are changing that.
Eskenazi Health has been named Indiana’s #1 hospital for community benefit and health equity by the Lown Institute. Thanks in part to community partners and philanthropy, we are helping individuals and families get beyond barriers.

To the Women of St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild,
On behalf of Eskenazi Health and Eskenazi Health Foundation, congratulations on the 64th annual St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild Decorators’ Show House and Gardens. This long-running event is yet another shining example of the Guild’s dedication and support of Eskenazi Health. Since 1907, the Guild has raised more than $14 million in contribution to our mission of advancing health equity and providing the highest-quality care to all residents of Marion County and Central Indiana.
Proceeds from this year’s Decorators’ Show House and Gardens will support the John & Kathy Ackerman Mental Health Professional Development Center at Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center (Ackerman Center), which aims to build a comprehensive workforce development program and encompasses all disciplines of mental health care. The Ackerman Center offers professional experience and support in order to create a talent pipeline from which Eskenazi Health can hire and continue to invest in employees’ growth and development, increasing the number of mental health providers in the community.
The Guild has been a dedicated and steadfast supporter of Eskenazi Health, with its influence evident across the organization, including the St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild Diagnostic Breast Center, the St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild Limestone Falls, the St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild Center for Nursing Excellence and St. Margaret’s Pharmacy. Your generosity has made an extraordinary impact that has benefited countless patients and the community.
Congratulations on the outstanding transformation of this year’s Decorators’ Show House and Gardens. Eskenazi Health and Eskenazi Health Foundation appreciate your generosity and continued commitment.
Gratefully,
Lisa Harris, M.D.

Eskenazi Health has provided high-quality and patient-focused care to the residents of Marion County and Central Indiana for more than 165 years. St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild has raised more than $14 million for Eskenazi Health since 1907, benefiting a variety of services and programs throughout Eskenazi Health.
Here are the stories of four Eskenazi Health patients, who share their journeys in hopes of inspiring others who may be walking a similar path.
More than 2,000 miles away from most of her supportive family, Janice Klotz received an alarming mammogram result. She had been planning to return to Barbados after decades in Indiana when those plans were disrupted by a cancer diagnosis. Her supportive oncology, surgery and social work teams eased her fears, connected her with resources to manage the costs and led her to a better outcome than she ever expected.
Eunik March had always been proud of her beautiful curves. But she began to worry her weight — almost 600 pounds — would prevent her from living a long life with her beloved grandchildren. With the support of Priyanthie Ganenthiran, M.D., staff physician at Eskenazi Health Center Grassy Creek, March started developing healthier habits, achieved nearly 200 pounds of weight loss and recovered the energy to return to dancing — this time with her grandson joining her.
To read more of Eunik’s story, please scan the QR code.
Charlene Gammon panicked when she learned she had stage 4 colorectal cancer. Julie Dossou, medical assistant for Eskenazi Health Special Medicine, told Gammon her attitude would be crucial to her recovery and helped her regain her naturally hopeful outlook. Before long, Gammon was wearing colorful, stylish wigs and awing family and church members with her positivity and the “diva” spirit that Dossou had helped her reclaim.
When Zak Boswell woke up at Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital after a night of gambling, he had no memory of the car crash that had led to his multiple injuries. He was dismissive when Susanne Bentley, D.O., talked about a plan for his sobriety. After all, he had tried many times before. But with her persistence and the support of Daniel Clawson, Eskenazi Health peer recovery specialist, Boswell soon had a new home, a new job and the strength to fight for his sobriety for himself, for his family and for others in recovery.
Support from the 2025 St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild Decorators’ Show House & Gardens will benefit the John & Kathy Ackerman Mental Health Professional Development Center (Ackerman Center) at Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center, which aims to build a comprehensive workforce development program that encompasses all disciplines of mental health care, offering professional experience and support in order to create a talent pipeline from which Eskenazi Health can hire and continue to invest in employees’ growth and development, while increasing the number of mental health providers in the community.
“As a graduate of the Behavioral Health Academy™, a pathway within the Ackerman Center, I’m proud of the meaningful work I do at Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center. Here, we prioritize treating the person, not just the diagnosis. Each individual has unique needs, and it’s our mission to meet those needs and empower them with tools for healing and wholeness. This lesson was instilled in me during my time with the Ackerman Center.”
– Brittany Gray, LSW Clinician, Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center
The Achievement in Medicine (AIM) Award, given annually by St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild and sponsored by Versiti Blood Center of Indiana, honors management-level members of the Eskenazi Health team who uphold the tradition of excellence in health care. This innovative, creative, and dedicated recipient was selected among many exceptional nominees from Eskenazi Health.
Generously sponsored by Versiti Blood Center of Indiana since 2006
St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild and Versiti Blood Center of Indiana announced Gareth Gilkey, M.D., as the recipient of the 2024 Achievement in Medicine (AIM) Award. The AIM Award honors a physician or professional of the Eskenazi Health team who upholds the tradition of excellence in health care and recognizes an individual’s achievements and contributions to continued innovation and dedication in health care.
Marking his 60th year as a practicing physician, Dr. Gilkey serves as a primary care physician at Eskenazi Health. He was nominated for the AIM Award by Christopher Steinmetz, M.D., an internal medicine provider at Eskenazi Health, who said describing Dr. Gilkey as a physician who goes above and beyond the call of duty would be a “monumental understatement,” as Dr. Gilkey goes out of his way – both personally and professionally – to ensure his patients are taken care of.
Dr. Gilkey has practiced medicine in Indianapolis since 1971, when he was hired as a staff physician at Marion County General Hospital. He began clinical teaching the same year through Indiana University (IU) School of Medicine, teaching residents and medical students in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. Over the course of his 45-year clinical teaching career, Dr. Gilkey has been awarded with many honors and accolades including the IU School of Medicine Internal Medicine Department Teaching Award (two-time recipient), the IU School of Medicine Outstanding Teacher in Education of Medical Science award, the IU Department of Medicine Distinguished Teaching Award and the IU Medical Group Joseph J. Mamlin Service Award.
Dr. Gilkey graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle in 1964. He began his residency at Philadelphia General Hospital and completed it at the IU School of Medicine, where he served as chief resident his final year. His residency was paused while he served as a captain in the United States Army as part of the 44th Medical Brigade in Vietnam for one year and then as part of the internal medicine department at Ireland Army Community Hospital in Fort Knox, Kentucky, for another. After the completion of his residency, Dr. Gilkey completed a gastroenterology fellowship through the IU School of Medicine.
AIM Award recipients are selected by the St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild, a volunteer organization that has been a key partner in supporting Eskenazi Health’s mission since 1907. Through the years, the guild has raised more than $14 million to support the work of Eskenazi Health. The generous philanthropic support of this volunteer organization has benefited Eskenazi Health patients directly through a variety of programs and services.
Random Acts of Flowers (RAF) focuses on its mission to improve the emotional health and well-being of individuals in health care and assisted living facilities across the country by delivering recycled flowers, encouragement, and personal moments of kindness. In October 2016, the RAF Indianapolis branch made its first delivery of 75 bouquets given to patients at the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital. The group returned in 2018 to celebrate the milestone of completing 50,000 deliveries across the city. The ladies of St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild have gathered at RAF over the years to make bouquets for patients at Eskenazi Health. They have collected hundreds of vases for use by other RAF volunteers and even held events during the run of the Show House to make floral arrangements.
Reach Out and Read is a program that prepares America’s youngest children to succeed in school by encouraging doctors and nurses to teach parents the importance of reading aloud to their children. Through this program, donated books are given to children at check-ups from 6 months through 5 years. Through Reach Out and Read, children are provided curated books, available in multiple languages, that contribute to healthy child development. In 2022, St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild began collecting books for Eskenazi Health Center, the primary care division of Eskenazi Health, and since then have delivered more than 800 books in various languages.
Eskenazi Health and the Indiana Diaper Bank have partnered together to create the Eskenazi Health Diaper Program, which helps provide diapers to Marion County families. According to the Indiana Diaper Bank, one in two Indiana families struggle to afford diapers for their children, and 57% of parents who have unmet diaper needs have had to miss work due to their child not having enough diapers to attend daycare.
Eskenazi Health patients are screened for social factors such as food, housing, and transportation insecurities during medical appointments. Through the Eskenazi Health Diaper Program, families with children up to 3 years of age are also screened for diaper needs. Qualifying patients receive diapers for their children to help mitigate financial stressors they may face. After hearing Deanna Reinoso, M.D., a pediatrician and medical director of social determinants of health at Eskenazi Health, speak at the 2023 St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild Founder’s Day lunch, the Guild was moved to raise funds for the program. Since 2003, St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild has donated thousands of diapers and $4,905 to help this worthy cause.

In June 1921, Indianapolis celebrated its 100th anniversary. The Hoosier capital had grown to more than 300,000 residents. By 1922, Washington Township and Broad Ripple Village were incorporated into the City of Indianapolis, allowing downtown residents to stretch even further north. Among them were Emory Russell Baxter (1901-1990) and Ruth Katherine (Fromm) Baxter (1903-1995), whose family gifted them two vacant lots in 1925. 2025 marks the 100th anniversary of the gift.
The Baxters commissioned the architectural firm of McGuire & Shook to design their home at 5676 North Pennsylvania Street. William McGuire lived across the street from the lot. The firm, now Odle, McGuire & Shook, continues its legacy today. The home is located within the Meridian-Kessler Neighborhood Association and is protected by multiple historic commissions.
level includes a recreation room, workshop, bedroom, full bath, and kitchen.
The 115-foot by 298-foot lot holds a French Norman-style stone house with a terracotta tile roof. The foundation was dug by horse and shovel in just 6 months. Above the front door, a carved greeting, “Above the door the builder placed my seasoned stone firm braced, the Master charged me to bestow a blessing on all who pass below,” resembles a traditional Hindu blessing. Originally 4,400 square feet, the home now spans approximately 7,000 square feet, maintaining many original features including light fixtures, custom woodwork, iron railings, inlay glass artwork, and hand-carved fireplace sculptures.
The home’s layout includes a sunken living room with a secondfloor balcony featuring “V-joint” arched doors and leaded glass windows. The fireplace at the south end of the living room has the shields of both Emory Baxter’s fraternity, Beta Theta Pi, and Ruth Baxter’s sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta on the mantel. French doors lead to a circular room and the original sun porch. The sun porch was eventually covered and leads to an outdoor entertainment area with a pool house, swimming pool, and patio.
The main floor also features a dining room, pantry, kitchen, home office, and an attached two-car garage, originally built to accommodate the Baxter’s luxury cars—an unusual feature at the time. The second floor has four bedrooms and three full baths, while the third floor, once an attic, now has an ensuite. The lower
The Baxters moved into the home in 1931. Originally contracted at $18,452, the final cost rose to $33,786.52 (about $700,000 today) due to custom features. Fun fact: their telephone number was Humboldt 5676, using the two-letter prefix common at the time.
Mark and Jan (Berry) Schroeder purchased the home in June 1995, completing the first remodel of the kitchen. They also rebuilt the vintage bathroom fixtures. In June 1998, Christopher and Ann (MacAkanja) Hilger became the third owners, adding an addition onto the kitchen, complete with a full basement, and an outdoor grill and patio. They also replaced the original tile roof with new tiles sourced from Ludowici, the original tile manufacturer.
The current and fourth owners purchased the home in July 2010. They remodeled the kitchen, created a large pantry where the original kitchen was located, and added a third-floor bedroom and bath. They also installed a second-floor laundry room, remodeled the basement pool room, and expanded a half-bath into a full bath. In 2017, they built a swimming pool and pool house, landscaped the property, and added a regulation volleyball net.
The owners are honored to share their home as the 2025 Decorators’ Show House and Gardens. Since 1962, this event has been the primary fundraiser for St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild, with proceeds from the last year supporting the John & Kathy Ackerman Mental Health Professional Development Center at the Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center.

Out front in the heart of spring, the garden awakens in a burst of color and life. Pansies, with their velvety petals in shades of purple, yellow, and deep blue, nod gently in the breeze, their cheerful faces turned toward the sun. Among them, hostas unfurl their broad, lush leaves; a rich green tapestry that adds depth and texture to the scene. Dotted between these, delicate tulips stand tall, their soft pastels and bold hues adding a sense of elegance to the rich colors of hydrangeas.
Mr. Green Jeans Landscape & Irrigation is excited to help welcome spring to the front of the home.

The art of C.W. Mundy, John Michael Carter, and Chris Thomas line the walls of the entryway, drawing guests up toward the second floor landing. The designer drew inspiration from the original tile in the vestibule and the sconces in this area for a look that stayed true to the style and history of the home. An antique iron bench with mohair cushions brings a bit of flair to the conversation as people enter. The wool and silk stair runner is also keeping with the period of the home. Gold leaf accents on the original handrail draw attention to the character of its beautiful design.

The living room showcases a maximalist design, blending bold, eclectic elements with timeless classics. The tufted leather sofa anchors the space, complimented by unique pieces that mix antique charm with eclectic flair. Original vaulted ceilings and large windows enhance the airy, spacious feel, creating a rich, visually stimulating, environment. Every detail, from the furniture to the accessories, reflects a curated, artistic approach to interior design by BWR Home.
The “snug” room was conceptualized as a cozy retreat for relaxation, providing an inviting atmosphere for family game nights or a morning coffee while working. To take full advantage of the southwest-facing orientation, the designer embraced the opportunity to incorporate moodier, captivating wallpaper and fabric selections. As a counterpoint to the traditional millwork and textiles, we introduced a striking, modern chandelier that serves as an unexpected focal point, adding a touch of contemporary flair and creating a delightful “wow” moment. The end result is a thoughtfully designed space that artfully balances traditional charm with modern sophistication, offering a versatile and welcoming sanctuary for both quiet moments and shared experiences.

The beauty of antiquity shows itself throughout this historic home. Our back vestibule and bath/laundry are great examples of how a screened-in porch can be transformed into a space that supports the patio and pool. The clay tile in the vestibule and the exterior stone of the home still remain, but are now a part of the enclosed gateway to the outdoors. The ceiling becomes a canvas for David and captures the emotion of nature. A purposefully placed outdoor bench, with outdoor fabric embraces the ease of connecting to the outdoor entertainment. Many a towel will casually be thrown on this bench before entering the home. With the build out of the bath/laundry, there is again the evidence of the original porch. Exterior stone, Tudor influenced corbels, and the repurposing of the porch window harken back to what once was.
The tranquil contours of the Kintsu® Bath Collection in Matte Black reflect the elegant minimalism of Scandinavian design, while its natural materials and motif of broken geometries channel the principles of Japanese wabi-sabi.

The first step down to the lower level, “Is a Doozy.” That expression was the sales slogan for Duesenberg cars and the inspiration for the stairwell and landing. The original owners built this house with attached garages for their Duesenberg and Studebaker cars. Vintage adverts from the 1931 Vanity Fair magazines and memorabilia grace the bold, golden wall and matching ceiling. The central painting celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Duesenberg victory at the Indy 500 race! The fun, colorful cheetah carpet runner is reminiscent of the art deco era and leads to the new dry bar. Working with the owner, we custom designed this space to hold all of their entertaining and barware accessories and provide much needed trash and recycling storage!
The stairway is transformed into another hang out space. The unique backsplash, when left natural, is a nod to the slate floors in the adjoining family room, and adds another punch of color when the backlighting is turned on. Local artists have created original paintings, highlighting the landscape and architecture of the home. Have a seat on the lover’s bench with a custom prohibition cocktail and enjoy the abstract interpretation of the family tree.
Combining a contemporary edge with nods to early 1900s traditionalism, the Rook® Bath Collection in Brilliance® Luxe Nickel® finish is an arresting, modern interpretation of a stately aesthetic.

The original paneled walls in a warm stain set the tone for the Library Lounge, giving way to an architecturally masculine style. To juxtapose the rich paneling, we brought in bold color and a mix of fabrics that allowed for some feminine elements for balance. The color palette remains deep in saturation to reflect a cozy vibe for reading and cocktails. A small, but sophisticated handpainted detail on the ceiling brings attention to the plaster work while adding a bit of glamour. A hidden space behind the paneling echoes speak-easy of days past, a fun little gem waiting to be discovered. The artwork throughout pulls the color palette together and inserts a contemporary edge to an otherwise traditional room. In line with our signature Mix Master style, we brought together patterns throughout the space with fabrics, artwork, and even a touch of wallpaper. We fully embraced the challenge to bring in color, pattern, and boldness without changing the walls in the library, while also adding a fresh and inviting feel to the room.

This beautifully appointed powder room serves as a serene retreat for both homeowners and guests, offering a moment of respite during the hustle and bustle of dinner parties. The beautifully classic existing tile serves as the room’s focal point. Its subtle colors inspired the soft complementary color palette, from the ceiling and walls to the decoration around the room.
Lighting fixtures and accessories were thoughtfully chosen to complement the home’s French Norman-style, while drawing inspiration from the room’s petite stained-glass window. The result is a space that balances old-world charm with modern touches. A niche with bunk beds on the south wall of the bedroom was sacrificed to create a laundry area hidden behind cabinetry in the adjacent upstairs hall. The room’s built-in bookshelves and window placement necessitated the non-conventional positioning of the bed. The homeowner asked the designers to use natural elements like rattan and cane in their design with a liberal dose of soft blue. A Serena and Lily bed and area rug fit the bill. Color drenching the walls and ceiling in one color and adding full length drapery panels creates a cozy and calming retreat.

An integrated murphy bed maximizes the space with closet storage, conveniently converting into a guest oasis in a pinch. Warm wood tones and shagreen overlay with translucent natural weave inserts elevate the storage while creating texture and sophistication. The soft layering of greens and blues creates a serene, comfortable environment, while the neutral tones of tan, golds, and charcoals add depth and warmth for a winning combination of opulent texture. The elegant crystal fixture and shiny gold sconces mix luxury with practicality to enhance the tactile experience for the homeowner and guests alike.

This thoughtfully designed space boasts original hardwood flooring and soaring dormer ceilings, enveloping guests in a warm embrace of history and style. Designed to be both a sophisticated guest retreat and a refined secondary home office, this room blends boutique hotel luxury with the comforts of home. A built-in wardrobe, rich with charm, enhances the room’s authenticity while offering seamless functionality.
The moody color palette infuses the space with a refined yet inviting atmosphere. Deep jewel tones, bold patterns, and layered textures bring depth and drama, from the sumptuous green daybed to the custom floral motifs inspired by the commissioned artwork. The showstopper, however, is the taupe and black wallpaper installation on the ceiling, a striking contrast to the sculptural elegance of the semi-flushed light fixture by Mitzi—a pairing that commands attention without overwhelming the space.
Drawer knobs and pulls from the Odin® Bath Collection in Brilliance® Luxe Gold® finish channel an elegantly balanced Scandinavian aesthetic.

This room effortlessly blends the elegance of 1920s traditional design with a subtle nautical charm. The deep navy blue colors exude a sense of calmness while offering a grounded and composed feeling. Take note of the shower wall tile from Rookwood that instantly elevates the space while keeping historic charm. The rich, dark wood vanity reflects the period’s preference for craftsmanship and warmth. Sleek, polished chrome fixtures shine gently while small touches of rope detailing nod to the world of sailing. The linen throughout in light, airy whites filters natural sunlight into the room, reminiscent of the open air on a ship deck.
Borrowing decorative influences from the Edwardian era, the Invari® Bath Collection in Polished Chrome celebrates a modern revival of classic forms.

The Kitchen refresh was driven by the architecture and the appliance hue—Viking Martini. This striking appliance color is used as inspiration for the furnishings in the Keeping Room as well, where casual and cozy fabrics provide comfort and color. A rich natural sisal rug anchors the seating area including an ample sofa in wool, an oversized chair in mohair, and a pair of chairs in a multi-colored slubwoven fabric while injections of black scattered throughout the room galvanize the space.

Let’s journey back to 1907, when St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild first sprang to life, ignited by the passion of five remarkable women. Their vision? To provide unwavering care and support to the patients of Indianapolis’ City Hospital. Over a century later, our mission remains steadfast, though the hospital’s name has evolved, from City Hospital to Eskenazi Health, reflecting our enduring commitment to service.
But why St. Margarets? This noble name harkens back to the selfless deeds of a ninth-century princess, who dedicated her life to healing the sick, comforting orphans, and uplifting the impoverished. It’s a legacy we proudly carry forward in every endeavor.
Since 1962, the annual Decorators’ Show House and Gardens has been our flagship event, transforming classic homes into showcases of elegance and charm. But it’s more than just a tour; it’s a beacon of hope for our community. Over the years, we’ve raised more than $14 million for Eskenazi Health, funding crucial equipment, groundbreaking programs, and vital services.
Thanks to your unwavering support, we’ve touched countless lives, from funding the Burn Unit and sponsoring mobile mammography
clinics to supporting mental health initiatives and pandemic response efforts. Our commitment knows no bounds, from summer therapy sessions for children to underwriting childbirth classes aimed at reducing infant mortality.
As we move through 2025, we are thrilled to finalize our pledge to the John and Kathy Ackerman Mental Health Professional Development Center at the Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center, empowering future generations of clinical social workers and addiction counselors. With your generosity, we’re paving the way for a healthier, brighter future for all.
St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild stands as a proud pillar of volunteerism in Indianapolis, but none of this would be possible without the tireless efforts of designers, sponsors, corporations, and individuals like you. Together, we’re not just raising funds; we’re shaping a community where every person has access to the care and support they deserve. Thank you for being part of our story, and here’s to many more years of making a difference together.

SUPPORTING THE SUCCESS OF THE 64 TH ANNUAL DECORATORS’ SHOW HOUSE AND GARDENS
What started as an idea between a Guild member and her daughter out on their neighborhood walks has blossomed into an incredible fundraising event! Dash by the Past is a family-friendly 5K or 1 mile walk with a scenic route that takes participants past previous Decorators’ Show House and Gardens homes on Meridian Street. The beautiful thoroughfare is closed to all traffic during the event. The run/walk begins and ends at the Meridian Restaurant & Bar at 57th and Meridian. Proceeds benefit the John and Kathy Ackerman Mental Health Professional Development Center at the Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center.
For the first time in the Decorators’ Show House & Gardens history, three homes were featured on Historic Lawton Loop at Fort Benjamin Harrison. The stately brick homes were built in 1908 as part of the Army Base.
Discovering the perfect show house is a journey filled with anticipation and excitement. From the moment we start scouting, potential candidates emerge from various sources— eager homeowners, insightful real estate agents, community surveys, and other local contacts. But what truly sets a Show House apart?
Picture this: a home that breathes space, boasting not just one, but front and back staircases, a grand central entrance hall, and a substantial garage or carriage house area. Its exterior is as inviting as its interior, with a sizable lawn and outdoor areas ready to be transformed by the hands of skilled landscapers. But it’s not just about size and structure; a show house must possess an undeniable charm and character, capable of captivating the public’s imagination.
Once selected, the chosen abode becomes a canvas for designer creativity, both inside and out. It’s not merely about custom decorating; instead, designers are granted the freedom to express their unique visions within a coordinated and integrated design scheme. To ensure cohesion, a Design Board, composed of seasoned designers and Guild members, carefully oversees area selection and evaluates proposals from the creative minds behind each transformation.
Imagine the thrill of being a homeowner for the Decorators’ Show House and Gardens—an experience that’s as fulfilling as it is rewarding. As part of the longest-running show house in the nation, you’ll contribute to a noble cause, supporting Eskenazi Health while indulging in the latest design trends and innovations. Are you someone who embraces new ideas, comfortable with decision-making, and adaptable to change? If so, we invite you to join us on this remarkable journey.
Take the first step towards becoming a future homeowner for the Decorators’ Show House and Gardens. Contact the St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild at info@showhouseindy.org and embark on an unforgettable adventure in design and philanthropy.
THE ST. MARGARET’S HOSPITAL GUILD IS GRATEFUL FOR THE GENEROUS SUPPORT OF THESE CORPORATE AND INDIVIDUAL SPONSORS AND DONORS.
