Snakes and Ladders

Written by Sarah Naomi Lee Directed by Kerri McLean Snakes and Ladders is a bold and powerful darkly comic drama about race identity and the testing of family loyalties partly inspired by real life stories and memories collected from black hairdressers in the South East. Amma can’t bear to relax, Kim loves being the one ‘blessed’ with ‘good hair’ and Sista is allergic to all forms of family life, Beyonce and any Timotei advert. Each sister knows there place, that is until Simone comes along and suddenly no one knows who they are anymore. Think Mike Leigh meets jerk chicken, this play will make you both laugh and cry, a definite must see. ‘Sarah Naomi Lee’s writing is fresh, bouyant, and touching’ - Financial Times ‘Kerri McLean’s direction is very effective and dynamic ‘***** (5 star review) - Latest

Dracula

Wed 26 February 7.30pm • Theatre ‘I can give you your forbidden, secret desire – the soft bitter touch of my kiss, the surrender, the chance to live and love for ever.’ Stretching from London, through provincial England, to the mountainous wastes of Transylvania, Bram Stoker’s timeless gothic thriller embodies the struggle to break taboos, resist temptation and stop the unknown outside becoming the enemy within. As Dracula’s shadow looms large over England, a small group of young men and women, lead by Professor Van Helsing, are locked in a struggle for survival where only the fittest will survive. This brilliant, theatrical treatment of Bram Stoker’s adventure blends Victorian Gothic with the contemporary. With specially commissioned live music, powerful ensemble performances and innovative design, you are promised an exciting and thought-provoking theatrical experience.

The first stage of comedian Susan Calman’s new UK tour sees her perform a new hour-long ‘work-inprogress’. Edinburgh Fringe favourite Susan has her own Radio 4 series and is a regular on the News Quiz and The Now Show as well as Have I Got News For You and QI. Susan will be asking lots of questions. Questions like where is she, what is she doing with her life, and can she put cat wrangler as her occupation on a mortgage application? Susan thinks about a lot of things. Sometimes she says them out loud, often just to her cats, but sometimes to other people as well. Come and listen as Susan says all the right funny words, just not necessarily in the right order. www.susancalman.com TICKETS: £11
