At some point in the 1970s (future writer/director) Bill Malone re-sculpted the Don Post version of The Creature from the Black Lagoon in an effort to make a more comfortable version of the famous GILL MAN. The original Don Post version was molded off the tight-fitting screenused original mask. His sculpture, thanks to the Don Post License, became the ubiquitous version of this monster owned by mask fans for almost two decades. Acknowledged by science fiction movie fans as the inspiration for Ridley Scott’s ALIEN, IT! THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE featured an intergalactic stow away played by cowboy actor Ray “Crash” Corrigan. The costume, created by low rent special effects genius, Paul Blaisdell, was evidently too small for Corrigan and it was quickly decided to stick the large actor’s chin through the mask and paint it red to look like the alien’s tongue. 135 134. DON POST Studios Original ALIEN Facehugger Mold. Sculpted by Bill Malone, with assists from H. R. Giger, this master mold was created prior to the release of the film, Alien (20th Century Fox, 1979), and used by Don Post Studios to cast the limited edition Facehugger in 1979. The release was one of the earliest licenses for the sci-fi horror classic and resulting replica was one of the most popular and accurate renditions of movie prop ever offered. Designed by Mike Fulmer and released in 1999, the Lionel Model #32962 Route 66 UFO Cafe is constructed of a stamped metal body with die cast landing gear, detailed molded interior including tables, booths and people, and wire form handrails on entrance ramp. It is also fitted with interior illumination, flashing strobe in top dome, dual speed controls, and circular sequential lighting. It is battery operated and remains in very good condition, although the model has not been tested. It was collected for display purposes only. Measures 12” diameter and 9” tall.
