JACKY TSAI
Jacky Tsai grew up in Shanghai and, after completing his BA at the China Academy of Art, moved to London to study an MA in Communication Design at Central St Martins. Tsai始s vision is to create a unique discourse between traditional Eastern craftsmanship and contemporary Western Pop art. The artist has a shared interest in fashion and artwork and has previously collaborated with British fashion designer Alexander McQueen, designing the iconic Floral Skull prints for his collections. Fusing culture and imagery with technique and textile, Tsai has an innovative approach to traditional materials, producing unique, luxurious and highly skilled works. Featuring lacquer carving, hand-painted porcelain and hand-cut intricate paper works, he utilises this fading artistry and reworks it with contemporary imagery.
