nce again, Haymarket Day was a huge success! Some of you may have had the opportunity to stop by and meet the VRE GHX Project Team at their information booth. For those unfamiliar, VRE GHX is the ongoing Virginia Railway Express Gainesville-Haymarket Extension Project. Currently in study phase, the VRE GHX is a proposed 11-mile extension of the VRE Manassas Line commuter rail service extending from Manassas through Gainesville to Haymarket near Route 15 and I-66.

The two-year study, which launched in July 2015, should include an analysis that will determine the impact of proposed stations and railroad improvements to the surrounding community and natural resources. It will also include identification of number of stations and locations, necessary improvements to the railroad corridor, development of ridership projections and overall cost estimates. The chart above shows the region being studied in yellow. The study is one of the first steps towards bringing commuter rail service to our area. If

regional economic development. As a real estate professional, I know a big benefit will be how it affects property values. Not only will home values likely increase, population (home buyers) is projected to as well. Public involvement and support is a critical part of this initiative and community members are strongly encouraged to get involved.
