1. Objective – to support the achievement of ResponsibleSteel’s vision: that all steel worldwide should be sourced and produced responsibly so that steel’s contribution to a sustainable society can be maximised.

Change Mechanism – Define the fundamental elements that characterise responsible sourcing and production of steel, to the satisfaction of downstream customers, users, and civil society supporters; – Define a minimum threshold level of performance, that will encourage broad participation and take-up by steelmakers worldwide, and which merits recognition and endorsement by customers and civil society supporters; – Define a target level… at which steel’s contribution to a sustainable society would be maximised; – Provide a basis for measuring and rewarding progress from threshold to target levels of performance
