a success story
ENGLEWOOD SATELLITE CLOSURE As is true for any year in the life of CommunityHealth, 2017 was filled with a sense of gratitude for all that our supporters helped make possible. We provided quality care to thousands of low-income uninsured residents in need of a medical home – all at no cost to these hard working individuals. And we stepped up our outreach efforts so that more people living in some of the most under-resourced communities of Chicago could find their way to our clinic doors. It was also a year of transition as the vast majority of patients being served at our south side satellite became eligible for Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act. After months of discussions with key stakeholders engaged in delivering services at this health center, we determined that the compelling need that prompted our expansion into Englewood in 2010 had now been addressed. Patients who were once unable to access insurance are now covered, and new clinics have moved into the area to serve this new Medicaid population. A true success story! CommunityHealth suspended services in Englewood on July 1, 2017, and is now focused more than ever on growing our capacity to care for a steadily increasing number of patients at our Lederman Family Health Center based in West Town. We look forward to continuing to explore new ways to build a healthier community – wherever the need exists – for many years to come.

DONORS
The donors recognized on these pages – and the many others that space prohibits us from listing – supported CommunityHealth in 2017 through their generous financial gifts, grants, and in-kind donations. Because CommunityHealth is not reimbursed by Medicare, Medicaid, or any third-party payer, donors are the lifeblood of the organization. We are privileged to have their confidence and support.
