( ABOUT NATIONAL PARK SERVICE )

The National Park Service is an agency of the U.S. federal government, and they serve to manage all national parks, most national monuments, and natural, historic, and recreational properties that hold various designations. They do this to preserve the natural and cultural resources and values of the National Park System for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of present and future generations.

The national park system is not limited to“parks” but includes all projects under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service. The naming and planning of a project unit need not include the word “park”; in fact, most do not. The system as a whole is considered to be the sum of America’s national treasures, and the relatively famous national parks and museums are sometimes referred to as America’s treasures.

(BRAND SOUL)

To immerse each generation in the beauty of nature and to pass it on.

LOGO ANATOMY

The new logo for the National Park Service combines a shield graphic representing conservation with a custom font. The new logo is meticulously designed, with an “X” serving as the unit of measurement.

The letter “X” is the same width as the carefully designed letter “O.” Our logo should be used at all times in accordance with the guidelines shown on this page.

02/04:LOGO STANDARDS BRAND: NATIONAL PARK SERVICE

(STEP ONE)

We chose a font that complements the brand.

(STEP TWO)

We changed the angle of the “i” and “o” to reflect the sun in the logo’s graphic shield.

(STEP THREE)

We arrived at a visually balanced typography.

It is critical to maintain a designated amount of white space around our logo in order to maintain its readability and visual impact of our logo.

The horizontal signature format is our preferred format. For size recommendations, please see our size chart.

(VERTICAL SIGNATURE)

Vertical signatures should only be used when there isn’t enough room for parallel signatures.

(SYMBOL ONLY)

The NPS symbol can be used separately from the signature when the NPS logo must be used abstractly, such as the app icon.

(WORDMARK ONLY)

When the NPS symbol is not required or cannot be clearly seen, the NPS wording can be used, such as at the bottom of the package.

This page’s size table was made for different NPS signatures. We can make sure that NPS signatures are easy to read by setting a minimum sign size.
