The Editor's Notes
Don't get caught up in what the world is doing or saying, these things are only a distraction. Stay focused on what is really important, doing the work of the ministry. Don't allow yourselves to be caught up in the cares of the world. You are not of this world, so do not participate in debating, arguing a point or even showing support to anything more than the love of Jesus. Support LOVE because LOVE never fails.
DON'T FORGET ABOUT
LOVE
Let's keep the negative out of our hearts and off of our lips so that we can be a beacon to the lost and the hopeless in leading them to CHRIST. Let the Love of GOD continue to be shed abroad in our hearts. As ministers of the gospel and those who have been called to administer grace to the world, we must remember that the world will only know that we are Christians by our love toward each other. If we can not love each other and unite ourselves in the bonds of peace, then we can not minister to those outside of the household of faith. It is my prayer that we will grow in grace in this coming year. The world needs Christ and many are ready to receive Jesus, however if we can not present the God of Love through our love for one another, then we have failed as true believers.

WHO IS Pa)or Cheryl Jones-Ross Many may be asking "Well who is this Pastor Cheryl Jones-Ross that we have recently been hearing about?". Even though her name is not well known, Pastor Jones-Ross is not a novice when it comes to ministry. Pastor Cheryl is currently the Founder and Lead Pastor of Greater Hope Restoration Ministries, 1700 Bower Hill Road, Pittsburgh, Pa.. She was ordained as an Evangelist and the Executive Pastor of St. John Bible Center in Lawrence Pa. under the leadership of her spiritual parents Pastors Melvin amd Geraldine Wilson. Pastor Cheryl served as a faithful member of that same ministy for nearly 36 years before being released to plant a church in her hometown. Some may know her as a member of the national recording group Ministree who has appeared on BET's Dr. Bobby Jones Gospel, The Word Network, Cornerstone TV and were 2008 Stellar Award Nominees and 2010 Rhythm of Gospel Award Winners. Ministree's hit song "Undercover Christian" can still be heard on radio stations across the country. She was also the Program Director of the P:108 Project, which was an afterschool performing arts and media technology program formed through the Corporate Way Association, a non-profit organization headed up by Pastor Melvin Wilson. The program enrolled 40 plus children during her tenure, many of whom received salvation through the program and have themselves continued on serving in ministry. I have learned through great trials and through experience that coming into ones destiny and purpose will cost something. We don't know what price we are going to have to pay in order to walk into the plan that God has for our lives. Therefore, when we give God our "yes", we are in essence saying "yes" to the cost as well. But if we remain hopeful that He will do what He says He will do, then we can keep that determination in our hearts that will help us to overcome every obstacle that may come to block the path that leads to the end of that "yes". Things will come into our lives that will down right cripple us whenever the Lord wants to do something monumental in our lives. However, if we really begin to understand that we will have to pay a high price for destiny, then our hope will not fail us when the trials come. I have always considered myself to be an out of the box person and have never been afraid of a challenge. Be that as it may, I found myself going through the greatest challenge of my life when my sister Joyce Wilson was diagnosed with stage 4 appendiceal cancer in November of 2011. Joyce and I were only 13 months apart in age and we shared our lives together in everyway. She was not only my sister, but my confidant, my ride or die girl, my business partner, and my fellow laborer in ministry at St. John Bible Center. We traveled across the country singing with our group Ministree, and raised our children together. We were so close that we even attended the same college together.
For those reasons and more,
losing my sister Joyce Wilson
to cancer on January 26, 2014 was the worst experience of my life and yet the most profound and purposeful. Many would say "how could something so devastating be considered purposeful?". But it was through that time in my life from diagnosis until the day that she took her last breath on this side of life, that I was able to begin my own journey to discover the plan and the purpose that the Lord had for me. In the very last message that she preached she said "Let US go to the other side". I thought she meant to the other side of her pending surgery two days later and the healing process, but I had no idea that she was speaking prophetically concerning her own destiny as well. I found myself unwillingly on the other side upon her death, and in a place that I did not know. My identity was gone, the life that I had known for 55 years, was gone. Our parents had died early in life. Our spiritual parents practically raised us and she became their daughter-in-law when she married their son, who was her high school sweetheart. I then became like Ruth who told Naomi, wherever you go, I will go, your people will be my people, your God will be my God. However, I had to be willing to let go of it all in order to find out who I really was and to discover the true purpose that the Lord had for me. Often we keep a tight grip on the things that He has given us to do. We fail to release them so that He can place in our hands the things that will bring us into His perfect will for our lives. The day that I released her to go on to our heavenly home, was the day that I was released to my destiny.
She loved people and had a compassion for anyone with a need. She organized a food bank and goods distribution service at St. John for the poor in the communities that we served. When the Lord moved me to launch Greater Hope Restoration Ministries nine months after her transition and under the covering of Bishop Linwood Lewis, "Joyce's Heart" became the heart of "GHRM". I began to learn the true meaning of grace as 2014-15 became a foundational year for GHRM. From the time the doors of the church opened, the ministry has had the opportunity to bless hundreds of people in the surrounding communities through its "Joyce's Heart Outreach Ministry", small group meetings, conferences and so much more.

In 2015 GHRM gave away over 100 bookbags and school supplies to local children during their back to school event, fed over 200 families through food distributions, aided local missions through financial support, led over 100 people to Christ and baptized nearly 30 within a few short months.
MINISTREE
GHRM's performing arts and media department had a successful year, with the premier of its first original gospel stage play, "Royaltown" and the launch of Heels ministry's online magazine "HEELS" Magazine. Pastor Cheryl began her talk show career as one of the co-hosts and producers of "Say So Gospel Talk" which had a short run on The Word Network. Pastor Cheryl now hosts GHRM'S own talk show "GHRM Live" which airs on PCTV21 in Pittsburgh Pa. and is the Editor and Chief of "HEELS" Magazine. The church's "Suited for This" clothing ministry has provided free "interview" clothing to assist those entering or re-entering the workforce who are in need of appropriate attire. A successful Men's ministry, youth ministry, children's church and so much more are in full operation at GHRM along with weekly bible studies and small group meetings.
"I have said to the people at GHRM that 2016 will be the year of the open door for the people of God. I have seen the Lord do things for GHRM that have caused many to know that the Lord is with us. I certainly can't say that we are special in any way, I simply believe God." Who is Cheryl Jones-Ross? I am a wife to my loving husband Frank Ross, the mother of three adult children, Brandon, Tyonna and CJ and grandmother to seven. I have lived a life that few only dream about, however I have paid a high price to go where the Lord is taking me. Can I say that I have any regrets? Yes. I regret not having a strong relationship with the Lord earlier in my life. I believe that this is why the word of God says, "Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them." There were many evil days and experiences that I have had no pleasure in. The loss of my parents before I even turned 21, being an alcoholic and a drug addict, being in an abusive marriage, living in a shelter for battered women, and a subsequent divorce, being a single mother of three for nearly 10 years, living on welfare and having to raise my children in the projects, and the many more mistakes I have made gave me no pleasure. Nevertheless, they were all necessary experiences that formed me, that worked together for good and brought me to God's good, perfect and acceptable will for my life. As I have entered in this new season and this new life ushered in by the pain of the death of my dear Joyce, the Lord is now fully able to use me to bring healing, encouragement, elevation, love and soundness not only to the body of Christ, but to anyone that He chooses to bring into my sphere of influence.

Evangelist Lillian Lloyd
"KEEPING IT REAL"
EVANGELIST LILLIAN LLOYD
For too long the church has been offering a temporary fix for people in need of more than emotional stimuli coming from a jump, a shout and a "tell your neighbor". It is the heart of Evangelist Lloyd to bring some viable solutions to the body of Christ in order to bring real deliverance to the lost and regain authority and our position in the earth. She has a way of delivering this message that keeps in line with her reputation of "Keeping it Real". There really is no better way to introduce Evangelist Lillian Lloyd other than to say let this woman speak for herself.
HM: Your book, "My Two Cents" is an extremely open and candid view into the life of Evangelist Lillian Lloyd. What were the main influences that caused you to write the book?
ELL: My influence was because of the countless emails that I received from my following after I had preached or sang somewhere. My social media inboxes would be flooded with emails and even my Myspace back then was full of emails from people who began to share information about their personal lives, their sexuality, their HIV status and so much more and it gave me the opportunity to tell them what happen to me and to let them know that they were not alone. I was raised by an Apostolic pastor who raised us in a strict environment. People think PKs are exempt from struggles because of their parents, but what people need to know is that PKs are regular kids and pastors and first ladies have no magic potion that causes them to do things that regular parents can't do. Pastors don't have the magical powers just because they are a pastor. We are exposed and subject to the same frailties as others. We are all subject to many different things. However, in the end it is the parent and the foundation on which we were raised that causes us to return to God and have a relationship with God for the rest of our lives. We are kids for only 18 years, but we are adults a lot longer. But, what happens when you are a kid is what shapes who you become as adults. I am child number eleven. At the point when I became a child, my mom had relaxed alot of the parenting rules that my siblings lived by. Thank God we didn't have major disobedience issues in our home, there were no gang-banger kids in our house because my father was there. However, some things slipped through the cracks with me mainly because there was a 7 year gap between me and my sister. When I started to develop, my siblings were older. When I was 7 my sister was 14 so her friends were much older than me. Therefore, I started to experiment with sex at a young age because of that. But also there was an issue that happened when I was a little girl with some inappropriate touching when I was 6. I don't hold grudges about that because children experiment with touching and a lot of things that are labeled differently today. But it is human nature to do those things. Yes, it is wrong, but it happens. Not meaning any harm in it but you do damage. When I was six the one that did the touching was about 17 or in that age range. He was too old to do that, but at the same time when you are trying to express your feelings, you do things that you wouldn't normally do.
And because of that, I developed a fascination with the human body and began to study and read and I became almost obsessed with the such. I even began to watch Dr. Ruth as a kid and started to study books about the human anatomy. I never got pregnant or had any STDs because I had given myself an education about those things at an early age AND I knew that pregnancy never would fly with my mother. HM: The world sees the multifaceted Evangelist Lillian Lloyd, a powerhouse in the gospel and in your music ministry. But who is Lillian Lloyd behind closed doors? ELL: I watch TV with my feet up and snuggle with lots of teddy bears because I love bears. I write children's stories centered around the bears in my life. The stories that I write are based on different scenes, scenarios and family members. They are just stories from my life and the people I know. I just take practical daily life lessons and make them a little funny. People that follow me on social media will see pictures of my bears in different scenarios and there is always a little caption underneath the picture about what the bears are doing. People will see me out and ask me what the bears are doing now and I will say "they better not be doing anything right now!".
I write music and I am working on my own music. I have people that are encouraging me to write. I also love movies. I love the show "Unsung". I will watch it episode after episode and I keep them saved on DVR. I learn from it and through other people's mistakes. I like to go to the mall and go shopping. I love shoes and big hats.
I also love concerts, not just gospel concerts, but I love different types of music including jazz and I love old school music. When I was a kid we listened to "Boyz II Men, "Jodeci" and groups like that and my parents would say that wasn't music, but now I say that about the new stuff that is out now. I am pretty easy going, I like to get quiet. I have to be in control of the noise that I hear. I need it quiet when I am sleeping, I need it loud during the day. I like to entertain and cook. I have recently become pescatarian, so I have been looking for 900 ways to eat fish and vegetables! When you go completely pescatarian you have to try many different things so that you don't eat the same things all the time. I can already see the changes in my body since the diet change. I can't wait to see how much I will have changed over the next year. HM: When people see you, they see a boldness that only comes from a strong and solid relationship with the Lord. However, are there any areas in your life in which you are not so confident? ELL: I don't know how to drive a car, I never learned how. There is actually a video from one of my friends trying to teach me how to ride a hover-board. It is very funny, I am screaming and holding on to my friend. I am terrified of anything with wheels. People can't believe it. But someone saw the video and commented " this makes me love you even more".
It makes me feel good to know that I am not this big towering person or angry bear with all of this power in the pulpit, but to see me flail around like that on the hover-board lets people know that I am real. Now that we have Uber I don't need no stupid car. I do want to learn how to drive and it is my goal to overcome that fear and do it by the time I turn 40.
HM: What are your "pet peeves" when it comes to the body of Christ and what do you believe that the church needs to do in order to overcome those things? ELL: I think that the church needs to go back to being the church and stop trying to be a financial institute or some center for neutered cats. It is everything but a house of prayer and the place of deliverance that it used to be. People are no longer preaching, they are walking around with headsets on, talking and pointing to a screen and everybody is sitting around taking notes. This is fine for bible study, but I want the word preached on Sunday morning. Stop trying to mimic what you see in order to attract a number of people. This is the most hopeless generation that I have seen. Everything sounds so depressing and people just want to die about everything. Gospel music is not even uplifting, encouraging, convicting with power or oil. It is all garbage and I want that to end period. I want to go back to church, choir members with robes, women wearing panty hose in church, no cleavage showing, people wearing clothes that go with their size. That's what I want. Yes, I wear hair and nails, but I am modest with my apparel. I am ornate, but covered. If you can wear what you have on to the club and wear it to the church you are not properly covered. I googled the proper attire for corporate America and I found something that says remove any visible body piercings, except one earring per ear and wear a certain type of suit, skirt or pants and the list goes on. If corporate America has a standard, why doesn't the church? God promises eternal life, why can't we give him a dress code? You can't dress right for the house of God, but you will do it for your boss? You can do something for them, but not for HIM? We don't want to bind people with a bunch of rules or a lot of don'ts, but at the same time I don't believe in opening the flood gates to allow people to do, do, do. There has to be grace and truth. We need to find the balance between the two and walk in it. Jesus is coming for a church without spot or wrinkle and He is weeding out a lot of this foolery. It is time for this next generation to raise up and get us ready for His return. HM: Do you have any regrets in your life? If so, what are they and what would you do differently if it were possible? ELL: I would not have watched other people and then gaged my success on them. I would have gone straight to college from high school. I went out right after high school to set up my music career, I sang with choirs and toured with them. Those mistakes made me who I am and gave me the relevance that I need to do what I do. I don't really regret my bad choices because it birthed me to be who I am now. I really wish I would have gone to college at an early age, and now here I am trying to go. I want to focus on getting my degree, and be able to counsel, and be a good leader. I have a strong pull for substance abuse. I have seen so many of my friends die at the hands of abuse and asked why does it have to be that way and they not get to live to get old. Why do they have to spiral out of control? What is the underlining cause? The Lord showed me what I can do to be of assistant to my friends who are battling with these issues.
I have a compassion for people and I don't give up on people until they die. If you are alive, I believe there is something more that you can do. I have a thing that won't allow me to write people off. We are so quick to lose faith in people, I hate that. I have friends that are mentally ill and I just deal with it because you need friends, you have to have somebody in your life that will be there at all costs. Everybody loves you when the lights are on you and you are on stage, but what happens when you are not on stage and your costume is too tight and you are just at home in your parents house living in their room downstairs and nobody cares about you then? We needs friends that won't watch you kill yourself, we need friends that will say something about it. If my skirt is too tight say something, if I am looking crazy say something. Sometimes somebody has been given the space to say something and they should because it is their moral responsibility to help you. HM: How do we not cross the line from helping to enabling? ELL: If your efforts are not making that person better, then we are enabling. If I am making you comfortable and pleasant for my life, then I am enabling. If we are doing stuff just to have you around there is a problem. I have battled with being in a low place as many people in the industry do. We are adrenaline junkies and people will do what they can to keep you around. Women often do this for men because we don't want them to leave. They say, I will make it comfortable for you to do what you need to do to make me happy, so I can be happy.
We have to ask ourselves, do I have a need to be needed or do I need to feel important? Do I have a caregivers hero syndrome? Let's get to the heart of what is really going on. We need to find out what does the person want to do, why are you helping them and do they even want help? How healthy is it for me to invest in you more then you will be investing in yourself? We have to free ourselves from thinking that we will be the one to speak the word to save the day. What makes your word so powerful than every other word. We can't have this hero complex because it will make us crazy. You could be the one, but what is that yearning about? Is it about their life, or their soul? Is this about you or is it about them? What is your personal thing in this? We need people around that will force us to not be comfortable and push us towards the goals that we have for ourselves.
HM: After this point I walked away from the computer because the Lord had begun to speak directly to me through her. All I could do was listen as Evangelist Lloyd poured more of her heart out concerning her desire to see people freed from the bondages of sin. As the wisdom continued to flow from the mouth of this woman, I realized that I had received my own answers to some things that I had been dealing with in my past as well as in my current state. I urge you to have Evangelist Lloyd come to minister to the lost and the bound in your communities and to purchase a copy of her book "My Two Cents". The wisdom coming from the heart of this woman of God is far greater than "Two Cents" worth.

AM I OR AM I NOT
EQUALLY YOKED
Am I or Am I Not Equally Yoked? Part 1 "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, says the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty" (II Cor. 6:14-18). Although in this scripture text, Paul was telling the Corinthians to be careful of their Christian walk with those who practiced paganism and unbelievers who worshipped idols and simply did not walk in the ways of the Lord, it had nothing to do with marriage. However, many Christians do use this scripture to measure the success of their relationships. In this post-modern society that we live in today, there are many who fail to understand the importance of morals, values, integrity or the need to have a spiritual connection. Therefore, it’s no surprise that whenever two people decide to enter into a relationship, they really aren’t equipped to handle one another’s differences. They are not emotionally, mentally or spiritually equipped for the confusion and turmoil sometimes “differences” will bring. Being mindful of this, I would suggest that before this matchless couple is propelled off the love boat into a sea of bitterness, perhaps they need to ask a very important question? Am I or Am I not, equally yoked? If, I were asked to give a definition for being equally yoked in a marriage relationship/, I would say from personal experience and after spending 35 years with the same spouse; to be equally yoked simply means, two people who are joined together for a single purpose to accomplish the same goal. In order for the two to be successful and have a positive outcome, they must be like-minded, flexible in their feelings, non-judgmental, forgiving, approachable, humble, accountable, and most importantly committed to the relationship.
Then comes the question, how will the couple be able to do this? Well, first of all, it’s important that they understand that this won’t happen overnight and secondly, this process will require a power greater than human power and it’s called the Power of God! Philippians 4:6, “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known unto God.” We must seek God in everything we do and especially in our relationships. And if we believe that it is God’s desire for us to be with one another in relationship, we are to thank God for this unity and begin to pray for one another’s strength to endure the many obstacles that Satan will begin to put in your pathway, because his sole purpose on this earth is to Steal, Kill and Destroy everything that is good and perfect under the Heavens. We must keep in mind that in the beginning God said, “It is not good for MAN to be alone,” so He created WOMAN. This is the first relationship ordained by God and it is important that we keep Him in the fore front of our relationships. It is important that when we feel we have chosen the right partner, that we look for the qualities and attributes that point to Christ. The statement “love is blinding” is a true statement. Many have been hurt because they fell in love with the idea of love. But in Godly relationships, we are willing to ask God to “Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.” In order to be equally yoked, it’s important that we DO NOT just love our partner, but we MUST BE IN LOVE with our partner so that we can accept one another for who they really are and begin to cover one another’s faults in love and move forward in prayer and Godly love.

You know,
"
it's so funny how this all started! I was at home (after returning from buying some store bought dipping chocolate for my strawberries), when I realized that I had been just “playing with my food for years. As I continued to put "stuff" on my strawberries as I had always done, I thought, hey I could get good at this!".
LISA BLACKWELL
At that time my husband, Eric, thought that I could help support our ministry by having people make donations for this new “idea” that was not really new. We had been sponsoring free outreach festivals in the Homewood region of Pittsburgh every year. During these festivals we were giving out school supplies, bikes etc, and needed help to financially support this ministry. “Faithful Sweets “, the original name for my company was born to meet that need.
What people love about my sweets is the fact that my chocolate isn't made in a factory and every piece that I design, cook, bake and arrange is made with love. My husband loved the product so much that he named the company “How Sweet It Iz”. Even though I am a wife, mother and a fulltime nurse, the Lord has caused HOW SWEET IT IZ to take off. I am now simply creating the product and buckling my seat belt as I continue on this awesome ride, giving all glory to God.
"After awhile I became flat out discouraged and stopped making candy altogether . But the Lord had another plan!" One day in my kitchen nearly 7 years later, in that same kitchen that I now call the “lab”, I began to ask God if that was what He wanted me to do in order to bless me financially. If so, I needed Him to give me the creativity and the ability to do it. Within days, He showed me how to create a perfect blend of chocolate and design sweets in a way that I never thought I could. However, I did not want to start a company and end it as I had in the past, so I began to make it official. I did a ton of research and expressed to people the uniqueness of my recipes in order to gain more support for my business.

was "God isn't talking to me at all.". This let me know that there was a need to redirect her mind from planning to die toward hearing the voice of God for her life. I began to explain to her that she needed to ask God about her future. She spoke as if she had no hope in this life and had little understanding of the life to come. How would I know that her thinking had changed? Because her speech or what she says will have changed. When our speech changes, (when we begin to talk right), our life will change. Look at your life and see how it has lined up with your words and see how your words have been connected to your thought process.
WHAT IS MY MOUTH THINKING?
The
bible says not to think more highly of
ourselves than we ought to think, but to think soberly about who we are in Christ. This doesn't mean you are high minded, conceited or arrogant or that you are boasting when you say how great the Lord has been in your life, it just means that you recognize God in yourself and know that it is because of Him that you are anything at all, for without Him we can do nothing. In Him you have the ability, you have the strength, you have been equipped to make it and you have been made to overcome all those obstacles in your past that have kept you from succeeding. David wasn't afraid to say in Psalms 139:14 "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well". My soul knows that I am distinct, I am unique, I am His treasured possession. God breathed His spirit into dirt and man became a living soul capable of doing everything that God said he could do before He formed man. Therefore, I must come up out of any thinking that is contrary to how God made me so that I can receive all that He has planned and promised for my life. I went to visit a cousin of mine whom the doctors said only had about 6 months to live. She was already planning her funeral service at that time and was speaking as if she was going to die within the next few days. I asked her "What is God saying to you about your life?" because I wanted to hear what she was thinking concerning her future. Her answer
If you speak instability, your life will be unstable, because your thoughts are unstable. Jesus was constantly asking His disciples "What think ye?", I want to know what you are thinking because your thoughts are the essence of who you are. The bible says "as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.". We are what we think! But more importantly our words are generated by our thoughts which drive our future. James says: And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. The tongue is a fire because of the fiery spirit that controls it and because of the destructive power that it exercises. If it is not controlled, it defiles or makes the whole body unclean and it causes great harm or damage, often in a way that is not easily seen or noticed but, it sets on fire our course of life. It burns the path of our future. We speak from the overflow of what fills our hearts. The bible says "for of the abundance (or the overflow) of the heart his mouth speaketh", because the heart is the axle of the tongue. Meaning, the heart is the machine that gives or increases the strength, or the force of the tongue in order to produce a particular result. This is why we are instructed to "Keep our heart with all diligence.". Do everything possible to guard your heart or your thinking process. "Wherefore, gird up the loins of your mind", bind up every thought that will hinder you from moving forward in your life. Tie up those loose thoughts and bring them in subjection to the word of God. The loins are that reproductive part of you. They are that part of you from which your future comes forth.

Lisa Page Brooks is the artist who broke Marvin Sapp’s nearly seven month chokehold on the top slot on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart in 2010 when her #1 smash “I Want To Thank You” pushed his “The Best in Me” to the side. It’s just one of many fetes in a career that has seen Brooks perform for a sitting President, earn Grammy Award nominations, snag a Stellar Award win, tour the world with the legendary gospel quartet Witness and star in several touring stage productions. That was only a part of the many accolades concerning Lisa Page Brooks that I found in her bio on her Facebook Fan page. I met Pastor Lisa quite a few years ago when singing with my own gospel group Ministree. We were blessed to not only minister at her church in Detroit for her women's conference, but also to sing background for her when she was in concert in the Pittsburgh area. I have always been amazed at her vocal abilities and her unique style in delivering the gospel in song in a way that lets you know that you have heard directly from the Lord. Nobody's voice can compare to the alto voice and vocal stylings of Lisa Page Brooks. HM: I was blessed in hearing a portion of your testimony at a women's conference in the Pittsburgh area in 2014 that you preached at. During that time your shared with the women the difficulties that you had to walk through as a child of a father in the music industry who was dealing with addiction issues. How much of that part of your past has been the fuel that currently drives your ministry? LPB: A great percenta, of it. A lot of what I do has come from my pa). Y# pull from y#r expe&ences, y#r t&umphs t&als and y#r errors.
They are your experiences and they impact our lives in a great way. I talk about my father's addictions, his music career with Motown records and the group that he sang with called the Monitors and its effects on me and many of the things that I went through as a child. When I remember these things it keeps me understanding the goodness of the Lord and it keeps me thinking about what He has brought me from. You always draw from those experiences because they are a massive amount of the fuel that drives our life's experiences.
HM: You are not the stereotypical first lady who shows up at church on Sunday mornings wearing a big hat while sitting on the front row. But you are very hands on in pastoring and in working along side your husband Bishop Michael Brooks at RFCI Ministry Center in Detroit. Has it been difficult to balance full time pastoring and a successful music career? LPB: At times yes. It has its highs and lows, you have to be super duper organized because it pulls from you alot. Sometimes I am stretched. But it is important for me to be connected and to sit up under the word. It is the word that fuels you and you have to be fueled in order to give out. It is so important to stay properly connected to God. It is often rough being away from, family and friends and the church. We have a lot of new members at our church and the church is really growing. But, many of them don't understand why I am gone alot and many of them are not into the music industry. Therefore, they are looking for me to be there and wondering where Pastor Lisa Page Brooks is when I am not. So it all pulls you. But I thank God that I know that He is my strength and I know that I have to do what I can and stay fueled so that I can come back out and deal with the people.
HM: What do you feel has been your greatest challenges in being a Pastor and a national recording artist? LPB: Dealing with the people and understanding that they are God's people and not ours. I love people, I really do and I love getting to know people but, sometimes you experience betrayal and a lot of stuff dealing with people. But, I keep reminding myself this is God's church. People are consumers and want you to "feed me, help me, encourage me" and sometimes that can be very overwhelming. HM: Can the world expect to see a worship CD coming from RFCI Ministry Center any time soon? LPB: I am trying to wean myself from the worship team even though I love being the worship leader. Sometimes my daughter Tasha helps with praise and worship when she is in town. But yes, I am the worship leader at my church. At some point we may do a worship CD. However I just did a live recording in October of 2015 which should be ready for release in the summer of 2016. A part of the live recording was a "Witness" reunion as well and it was a great time. Witness may do one bonus track on my project. I am currently working on getting my single ready to be released.
HM: You obviously love fashion and always look stylish and chic. Do you have a stylist and what are you personal style secrets? LPB: I do most of my own styling. I love fashion, I love clothes. Sometimes my youngest daughter, Sateara Page also styles for me. She has her own fashion consulting business called "Points of View".
I think that fashion is personal. It is all about what you like and how you feel. I am actually preparing for a major fashion show on April 8th in Detroit. We are launching a drive to help raise funds for a new building and the proceeds from the show will help with that project.
HM: Can you tell our readers about "Chic In The Vault" coming up on April 8th and Nee Nee's Closet. LPB: Well, my grandchildren call me "Nee Nee", so that's where the name came from. Chic is all about style and a vault is a closet. The tickets for the show are $15.00 per person and all of the clothes being shown will be for sale. We have some very upscale resale pieces that we will be showing along with new apparel from designers and other people that are into fashion. We will also be showing some clothes from my own personal closet. The show will be held at the Quality Inn Banquet Center 30375 Plymouth Road, Livonia Michigan at 7:00 p.m..
HM: In my opinion Lisa Page Brooks is one of the greatest gospel singers ever. You have personally been a favorite of mine since your days with "Witness". Do you believe that you have gotten the recognition from the gospel industry that you have earned? LPB: I don't know how to answer that because I have never played the industry game, so I don't look at it like that. I do at times see where I am personally overlooked, but as long as I do what God placed me here to do, I'm good. I have never gotten in the game or into the cliques. You may see me, but when people don't see me, I am always at the airport, behind the mic, singing or preaching somewhere. To me, good success is doing what God told me to do and that's all that matters. I know so many artists who are depressed and upset about not being called on to do certain things, or about not winning a Stellar or being nominated for something. But, you don't just arrive, there is no pinnacle in gospel music. What we do is about souls. If a life is changed then the mission has been accomplished. I stay prayerful in keeping that ministry.
HM: What's next for Lisa Page Brooks within the next couple of months? LPB: More of the same and a dvd, new music, and creativity from other extensions, and also a new book. My first book "In The Process" can be purchased at Authorhouse.com. In it, I have written about the process that I went through and my journey in life. It is actually my life story and I am simply sharing my process. The new book that I am working on "A Mentor's Memoir" is an advice book. I plan to have it finished before 2016 is out.

NA' STUBBS nA' Stubbs is the Founder/Artistic Director of uNiqu' Performing Arts and The "No More ! Project", which is a theatrical production currently touring nationally. Her gifts, for singing, acting, dancing and theatre were cultivated at The Pittsburgh High School for the Creative and Performing Arts a.k.a. C.A.P.A, She is also the Director of the Performing Arts Dept. of Solid Rock Foundation Ministries in Carnegie, Pennsylvania, where Bishop Linwood Lewis and Pastor Denise Lewis are the founders.
Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, uNiqu’ Performing Arts was founded in 2003 in response to a disturbing lack of support for creative and performing artists who possess nontraditional creativity. While there are a number of youth programs with strong arts curriculum, many of these cater to individuals already receiving some formalized training. Few primarily focus on helping youth/young adults even discover that they possess unique artistic abilities. Pronounced u-knee-cue, uNiqu’ Performing Arts was designed as an outlet that addresses the needs of young artists, particularly those that do not fully recognize or value their artistic gifts because they are not of a “professional grade”, as well as those who may acknowledge their strong talents and desire to use them for outreach, but lack the mentorship and motivation to further develop the usefulness of their skills. In the case of ministries/organizations that have primarily imitated other groups rather than develop distinctive identities, uNiqu’ was designed to help identify unique talents, vision and strengths that can support an overall organizational mission. uNiqu’ Performing Arts enables youth/young adults to identify, understand, value, and cultivate unique artistic strengths. The company helps structure arts departments as effective outreach tools by examining and illuminating the strengths and goals of an overall organization. Ultimately, developing artists and arts programs are taught the significance of excellence and value in performance, for the purpose of outreach.
This production is one that boldly confronts issues affecting our younger generations (sex, drugs, peer pressure, violence, abuse, and suicide). We strongly feel that any and everyone needs to view this project. By the end of this year we will also begin filming this production in movie form. Our Mission statement: Arts-Reach…Excellence in the Arts…Effectiveness in Outreach
The N.o More Project is a culturally relevant & timely theatrical production that boldy faces issues that are plaguing our youth.

OVERCOMING CHURCH REJECTION
OVERCOMING CHURCH REJECTION The Lord told Jeremiah the prophet, "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee.". I knew exactly who you were, I gave you your identity and before thou cometh forth out of the womb, I sanctified thee and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. God talked about Jeremiah's identity and purpose in that text. However, He identified him first, because our identity and purpose are so connected that our true identity will only be revealed at the exact time that we are ready to walk into our purpose. In the book of Genesis 2:7 the bible says, "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.". And the word goes on to say "And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it", meaning to work it, to protect it and to preserve it. But look at this, when we drop down to verse 19 the bible says, "And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.". This is the first time God revealed who the man was by calling him ADAM. God identified or revealed Adam along with HIS REAL or TRUE purpose at the exact time he was to walk in it. His purpose wasn't just to work in the garden and protect it because work is a requirement that comes with being a man. But his real purpose was to have dominion or rule over what God created and bring it under submission to God's will. Therefore God brought every living creature to Adam for him to call them, to identify them, or appoint them or predetermine what they would be. And the bible says, "Whatever he called them" (or purposed them) "that would be their name" or their reputation or overall quality or characteristic.
THE WILLIAM
After the Lord revealed Adam and revealed His true purpose, chapter 3 says that the devil showed up in the Garden of Eden in the form of a serpent. You see, the devil is coming for you in one form or another and you need to recognize who he is when he comes. At that time you must let God be strong in you and protect who you are and the purpose for which you are here. Who you are matters just as much as your purpose matters. Many people have no problem with your purpose, however, when you tell people who you are in Christ that is when you will find yourself being rejected by those same people that you expected to support you. That word reject means to refuse to accept, to refuse to submit to, believe, or make use of.
Revelation comes with Separation Jesus said in Matthew 10:34, "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.". That word variance means dissever or to become separated or disunited.
OVERCOMING CHURCH REJECTION
"Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am? And they answered, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets. And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.". In another passage in Matthew 16:7 the bible says that Jesus answered and said to Peter, "Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven." No man told you this, It was God that blessed you with this revelation of who I am. But then He began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. He said now that it has been revealed to you by God exactly who I am I must also tell you the true purpose for which I came, I didn't come to deliver you from the rule of Roman government, I didn't come to be crowned king of the Jews at this time as you had hoped, but I came to be killed and rise again after three days. But first I must be rejected, they must refuse to accept me, they will lie on me, they will mock me and spit in my face. Peter you will deny knowing me three times and they will choose a murderer over me and condemn me to be crucified. They will even try to kill me even before I get to the cross, but thanks be to God, what they do to me is necessary. Their rejection of me won't keep me from my purpose, it will fulfill it, it will accomplish it, it will complete everything that God said about me. It will cause God's will to come to pass. Therefore as soon as the revelation from God came by way of the Holy Ghost through Peter, immediately rejection began and the devil got into Peter and the bible says "Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.". We must understand that the devil will always speak contrary to what God says to us about who we are. "Jesus answer Peter and said get thee behind me satan", get out of my way, get out of my sight, get out of my field of vision, get out of mind, get out of my head. Don't try to change the perception of who God revealed to my brethren that I am. "For thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.". Because your opinion, your understanding, your mind concerning this matter is not of God, it is not spiritual, you have no spiritual perception of this at all. I love how He went straight to the source of the rejection. He knew who the real enemy was, You can overcome rejection when you fully understand who you are in Christ and who the real enemy to your calling is. Because revelation always comes with separation. Don't let rejection from people steer you away from your destiny. It is the plan of the enemy to cripple you because of the opinions of people. If you allow their opinions to affect you, it will cause you to be ineffective in what the Lord has called you to do. You can not walk in you purpose if you aren't solid in the revelation of who you are.

KINGDOM HEALTH 4 LIFE with
SATIN Â B. Â
Kingdom Health 4 Life is simply a healthy, holistic approach to changing your diet and weight and doing it with a Kingdom mindset, coupled with prayer.
For as long as I can remember, I've struggled with my weight, desperately wanting to lose weight and be healthy. After a separation and divorce in 2012, I began to hear God speak saying that He was going to transform SatinB before Kingdom Health 4 Life me. Little did I know how much of a transformation He was speaking about. However, my focus and change to a healthy eating lifestyle was not immediate but, it came in shifts as I started to pray concerning what foods to eat for my health.
We must understand that change first begins with our will, our focus and a determination to totally change our lifestyle. Healthy eating is all about taking one step and one day at a time. You will fall down, but you can also dust yourself off and get back up again. The first thing that I did to begin the process was to eliminate white sugar, sweets, and chips from my diet. I then added green tea with raw honey and water to my regime. I saw myself turning the corner with these simple steps. Seeing a change can be monumental in anyone's life.
KINGDOM HEALTH 4 LIFE with
SATIN Â B. Â
For too long the body of Christ has suffered with sickness, diseases and premature death related to poor and unhealthy eating habits. As kingdom people, we should be vigorous, energetic, full of vitality and kept in our youthful state. Living a healthy lifestyle is not a New Year's resolution, it's a life commitment to yourself to take your own health back. As I began a 90 day smoothie challenge, I was given the vision by the Lord for Kingdom Health 4 Life with SatinB, as a way to encourage, uplift and share with the body of Christ a more excellent way to eat and take control of our health. Now is the opportune time to eat for the Kingdom. What I mean by this is that we must begin to eat healthy so that we can live a Kingdom mandated life for our life, ministry, and every area that God has position us to be in. Healthy eating is not just for the now, it is for life, your life to live longer stronger and healthier. Our body is the temple of the Lord and we are to take care of this body that the Lord has given us each and every day. Kingdom Health 4 Life encourages you to eat more leafy greens, and less meat, according to Genesis 1:29 that says, "And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat." Remember you have the power to make the change.
SatinB.
From "PREACH" tO
PURPOSE
Prophetess Linda Roark is an international conference speaker, author and preacher who is armed with a word of destiny for the nations, with an accurate and authentic prophetic anointing. Prophetess Linda Roark is often called upon to speak a life-changing word to God's people.
Prophetess Roark was also a cast member on The Lifetime Network's highly controversial show "Preach". Preach produced by Core Media Group followed four female leaders from Ohio as they ministered through preaching, healing, deliverance and the prophetic anointing. Many believe that the show was cancelled after close to 15,000 people signed a petition to end it. Lifestyle's claim to the show's cancellation was that it had low ratings.
No reality show surrounding the "church" has garnered more hate than "Preach.
Even though shows such as "Preacher's of L.A", "Preacher's Daughters", and "The Sisterhood" have their own share of controversy, these shows have endured through three seasons. From the time the show was introduced to the public, many have called her a "Jezebel", a false prophet, a witch and many believed that God had answered their prayers to silence her along with the show's co-stars when the show was quickly cancelled.
Why was there so much contempt for the cast of "Preach" is a question that I wanted to have answered and who better to ask than one of the shows cast members.
When I contacted Prophetess Linda concerning a possible interview for HEELS Magazine, my first thought was that she may not be willing to speak on what others may have called an epic fail in her life. However, I was pleased at her quick response and her willingness to be candid and open to me on the subject of "Preach".
I can not say whether I agree or disagree with the show's concept, but what I can say is that I found Linda Roark to be a woman of resilience and the ability to keep it moving even in the midst of opposition. I was truly honored to speak with this humble woman of God as she shared her heart concerning her time on "Preach", the affects of its controversy on her life and her ministry, and what she was left with after the show's abrupt end.
HM: Many people may think that you "suddenly" appeared on the scene via "Preach", however you have been in ministry for quite a few years. How and when did you first know that the Lord had called you into ministry? PLR: Well actually I have been in ministry for 20 years, but I have been released in the prophetic and evangelistic ministry for about 15 years now. I began ministering as an evangelist, but the title of Prophetess was added to my name about 15 years ago. I am not one who is into the "title"thing because I stepped into that when the Lord called me several years ago way before the title was added. I have been ministering with my husband who is a pastor. He is actually the one who released me out into the field to evangelize and go across the country to evangelize.
HM: What do you believe was the reason why the Lord allowed you to be unveiled to the world in such a controversial way?
PLR: I asked the Lord about this myself. It is important to know that I had fasted and prayed for 14 days before I decided to do this. I didn't want to just sign the contract because that was not what I was looking for. I asked God if he wanted me to do this and the Lord spoke and said "I am going to open a door that will forever change your life". I thought I would step out of the box and do something I have never done. When I did, I felt like this was to present the gospel to a dark world so that they would see the true power and the anointing of God and cause me to reach some that I couldn't reach over a pulpit.
It wasn't about me at all but, I wanted to
reach out to a lost and dying world. The Lord told us to compel them to come in. I believe that God wanted to display His anointing and not me, by what He was able to do. What people don't know is that there were a lot of powerful segments that were not presented on air, segments that showed deliverance, salvation and deliverance from demonic spirits. On my part, I have nothing but great reviews and reports about the show and it really is amazing what God has done. Many don't know that Preach is being played in Ghana, Africa. People have actually contacted me from Ghana to say how blessed they have been from watching the show. I believe God took what the enemy meant for evil and used it for His glory. There are many people who are inquiring and talking about how powerful the show really was. I am getting a lot of praise reports through it. HM: Many in the church were in an uproar when the trailer aired. Did you have any reservations on doing the show after the trailer came out? PLR: I didn't actually because I knew who I was and I was sticking true to my character. We didn't know what the trailer was going to be when it came out. We didn't know what it was going to present. I was hoping they would have showed more of the truth of my character, then there would have been a lot more good reviews. HM: There was such hatred for the show but more for the women who appeared on the show. How did the response of the people affect your ability to continue to minister to those same people who rejected you? PLR: I have to say the Lord had already prepared me for the controversy. Honestly, on one side it was hurtful, but it never did stop me. I am confident and know God's voice even though some people would say why would God call me to do something so controversial. But the Lord clearly said to me "Do it", let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged. People labeled me as a Jezebel and a witch, but they don't know me. But the people that do know my heart, they know that it is for the lost and the addicted, Those things that people did and said did not move me. To me it was as if they didn't say anything.
HM: How was your personal life affected during that time period. We understand that everyone that says Lord, Lord doesn't belong to Him. Therefore, did you at anytime fear for your life and for your loved ones during that time period?
PLR: I have to honestly say no, not at all. God had equipped me for the backlash, the hate and the hate mail. I know that what God calls for He supplies for. I have never been attacked, only by words. Some say sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me. Yes the words hurt, but they didn't affect my personal life. I never received any death threats even though friends couldn't believe that I would step into such controversy. I received hateful phone calls and emails but I believe because I had fasted and prayed for 14 days prior to signing the contract, that is what secured me in the time of testing. HM: You said that the Lord would not allow you to defend yourself. How hard was it for you to remain silent and what were the most difficult things that you had to allow the Lord to deal with on your behalf? PLR: It was very hard, especially after the trailer and the first episode came out. My phone and my social media began to blow up with people's opinions. I wanted to say something to justify my decision or say why I was doing the show, but the Lord spoke to me and said "What would I do?". As I was in prayer, He reminded me of Luke 23:3 when Pilate asked Jesus saying Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it. He didn't even try to vindicate himself. Luke 23:9 says Jesus was questioned with many words, but he answered him nothing. The Lord said to me, "keep your character and your integrity. If you try to vindicate yourself it will be a reproach back to you". If I would have lashed out, even though the videos and things were cruel (people posted videos of us on youtube with satantic symbols behind us) I would have been on my own if I would have defended myself. He said "I will vindicate you" and truly He has done that. The show did some good things. Many had not heard of me accept from the show, regardless of the controversy. Recently a pastor had me to come to preach at his church, Before I got up to minister he stood and addressed the people and said, "Let this woman speak for herself and you will see the anointing that she carries". Many doors have been opened to me. I will be ministering in Ghana, Africa, a door that has been opened up because of the show "Preach". HM: If you had the opportunity to do it again, would you and would you do anything differently? PLR: I would do it again, only I would request that they would display more of the power of God manifested than some of the things that they presented on the show. People didn't get to see everything. People were getting delivered and set free, the anointing was so high. They did not get to see the outstretched hands of people that wanted healing and deliverance. Yes, I would do it again, but I would want them to show more of the glory of God to a dark world.
PLR: I would love people to know about the compassion, love and the burden that I have for the lost. I want to see people saved healed and set free. I am a very compassionate person and I wish people would have seen this. I am a mother of two sons, a grandmother, wife of 35 years, family oriented, and I am human like everyone else. I can say I have no hurt, no regrets, no things I would like to justify. God has given me peace even during that time, because he had pre-prepped me. Most people that know me, know that I have often said, "I love you, but I won't let you kill me". So many people I know have dealt with rejection and hurt but have not been fully released of it and they still wonder on it and can't get their true breakthrough. God will vindicate. I know that He's got me and I am able. If things over burden me I take it to the Lord with my hands up and I receive an overwhelming peace that can't be explained. HM: How have you been able to keep moving and what's next for Prophetess Linda Roark? PLR: There are a lot of great things happening this year. I am going to Ghana, Africa and I am in the process of writing my second book. The first book was called "Victorious Secrets", a book that has been a blessing to many. My new book is called "Enduring the Process". What perfect timing! I certainly gleaned from the experiences learned and I plan to keep preaching the gospel as an Evangelist around the country. HM: It is difficult to come up from under a cloud of controversy. As women we often fail to acknowledge that we have all had our share of it. Perhaps it was not on a national level, but at some point in our walk, everybody did not agree with our ministry assignments or our methods. Often something that we believe was birthed from a word from the Lord concerning His plan for our lives becomes a matter of controversy to someone who did not hear personally from the Lord on what He has spoken to us.
Controversy is the result of disputation concerning a matter of opinion.
Often opinion is all that people have when the facts have not been revealed. However, what do we do when it is the Lord's will to keep the facts hidden. Do we keep moving while trusting God that He will reveal it all in His time? Or do we shrink back from the assignment for fear of the controversy? What if He has a hidden agenda that Hc has chosen to remain silent on? Will you still take risks? What if He nevers says "why" and chooses to allow you to remain unvindicated for a period of time even though you were obedient when He told you to move? Will you be just as willing to obey Him the next time? Perhaps our movement or lack of movement at His voice will often come solely as a personal test of our trust factor. It could be that how we respond will either take us to our next assignment or cause us to remain where we are until we are able to trust Him in all things.
HEELS
Women's Ministry was formed to minister to the needs of the
total woman. We understand the challenges of everyday life that a woman must walk through while carrying the burdens and hurts of her past along with the load of being a wife, mother, grandmother, single parent or simply a single woman trying to make ends meet. In order for her walk to be more effective, she must be healed, encouraged, elevated above her past so that she can see into her future, loved without condition and taught how to love others and given a sound mind through sound teachings. This ministry is designed to meet those needs through fellowship, teaching and outreach. HEELS Women's Ministry is an outreach ministry of Greater Hope Restoration Ministries, Pittsburgh, Pa.
