As I sit to write this article England has moved to step four of the roadmap. While this is good news, we all still need to be cautious and use common sense moving forward. Locally, we have been very careful and listened to the advice from government and the NHS. We know how to minimise the risk and that is exactly what we must now do as part of everyday life. Whether that means wearing a mask at times, keeping a safe distance from others or getting used to washing your hands more often. Keeping ourselves and others safe must be our priority. I am pleased to say that we are experiencing some nice summer weather at the moment but, with the heat does come additional risk. With more of us looking to stay at home this year for our summer breaks, I am delighted to see many towns and villages preparing for Britain in Bloom.

I know things are different this year, but, it is inspiring to see residents taking pride in their local area in this way. I wish all towns and villages the best of luck and thank all those volunteers who dedicate so much time to the local community in this way.

Highway Matters

I am concerned about the amount of correspondence I am getting on highway matters. This varies from speeding traffic to the condition of roads. I am aware of constituents’ concerns and will be highlighting them to the highway authority and the police. There is a great deal of traffic on our roads and this is particularly evident at the moment because most people are increasing the amount of road journeys they are making. Please remember if you do see a highway fault, from a blocked gully to potholes, please report them to Lancashire County Council using ‘Report It’, by going to: www.
