These drugs are not safe for long term use. Please, if you struggle with acid reflux or heartburn consult an expert who can advise you how to change your diet because such acidic issues are often your body telling you to stop putting in something that does not agree with it. Commonly these are the pastries, cereals, breads and alcohol. Aside from the potentially serious illnesses caused by too much acid, suppressing your body’s stomach acids is the first step towards increasing your chance of dementia. You may take B vitamins and a myriad of other good things but the suppressive antacids will mean you simply do not absorb the right nutrients. Prevention is far better than cure and I would advise everyone to take a high quality B vitamin supplement – make sure it has B12 in it. Viridian do several excellent B supplements and you get money back on the bottle when you return it to your health food store. Pharma Nord, Viridian and Nature’s Aid all do really good Omega supplements. Not forgetting that eating seafood is a good source of omegas. Other factors that are important in dementia type diseases are: a high sugar diet, a lack of antioxidants, including Vitamin C, good digestion (eat fermented food every day and take a probiotic), having an active mind and social life (another reason why the isolation of the last 18 months has been a health catastrophe the real cost of which will never be known), physical activity, good sleep and less stress.
As with so many things in life, your body and mind is not a sitting duck waiting for ill health to arrive. There is so much you can do. Do it!
