He also had severe damage to one of his ear tips which we believe has happened due to being exposed to the sun. He has since had surgery to remove the diseased part of his ear flap and is doing much better. Adopters will need to be mindful of his ears being white and apply sunscreen in the summer months to prevent further damage. This can be discussed further with staff when meeting Gilbert.

He is such a sweet and friendly chap who is no trouble at all and just wants a peaceful home where he has a warm bed, good food and plenty of love. He is also looking for a home where he can be given safe outdoor access and a garden to explore.

Mice

We have a number of mice of various ages and sexes on the lookout for new homes. They are all friendly mice who will need a large cage/ tank with plenty of enrichment. The adoption fee per mouse is £8. Pictured are juvenile boys, Gordon, Hendrick and Bombay. For more information on how to adopt, please contact the animal centre.

CENTENARY ANNIVERSARY

Unveiling of the War Memorial

The Union flag will be hoisted at the Barton, Bilsborrow and Myerscough War Memorial in Bilsborrow village on Wed 18th Aug. The event marks the centenary anniversary of the unveiling of the memorial on Thurs 18th Aug 1921 by General Sir Archibald Hunter GCB GCVO DSO TD MP, Colonel of The King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment and member of parliament for Lancaster. In 1921, the national anthem was sung followed by the hymn ‘O God, our Help in Ages Past’. General Sir Archibald then addressed the assembled congregation and unveiled the memorial. On it were listed the names of fourteen men from the three parishes who died in the Great War and those of eighty-seven who also served and lived to return home. The venerable Phipps John Hornby, Archdeacon of Lancaster, gave the dedication followed by prayers and the communal singing of the hymn ‘Lead, Kindly Light’. Finally a detachment of soldiers from
