Stalmine / Staynall Residents’ Association

Great news: WBC rejected the resubmitted planning application for the 2 x 80 bed care homes plus another 50+ houses in Stalmine. Many thanks to all of you who contacted and supported us in this. Thanks also go to Peter Swarbrick, our SSRA vice-chairman, who researched and scripted our lengthy and detailed objection paper, to Cllr John Shedwick, our LCC councillor, our WBC councillor, Julie Robinson and our parish councillor Alan Morton. All attended the meeting and spoke against the application. WBC voted unanimously against it. Wonderful news for Stalmine. Such is the power of working together. However, Peter noticed that a recent Facebook article wrongly described them as retirement homes. We are watching closely! Following recent requests from residents, we have contacted Highways about Harwood and Malvern road surfaces. They are in a dreadful state. Readers will recall that after three years of contacting and reminding Lancashire County Council, we were successful in getting Lynwood Drive resurfaced. We have now asked that Harwood and Malvern be resurfaced during the current and massive LCC road surfacing schedule. We again sent photos with our request and it is now under consideration. Fingers crossed. We are hoping to hold our annual lantern making event in the autumn and move our 2021 scarecrow competition to late September. Details to follow. The dates of our next two meetings are still unknown at this point. • Pauline Andrews 07808 058 097 • Ann Ralph 07713 852 639 • Peter Swarbrick 01253 702675 • Chris Hyde 07949 590 897 • Susan and Andy Haydock 07879 477
