like Fleetwood can once again aspire to becoming a popular destination. Let’s hope the decision makers in London agree. We’ll find out in the autumn if we’ve got through to the second round. Keep your fingers crossed everyone!

As I sit to write this article England has moved to step four of the roadmap. While this is good news, we all still need to be cautious and use common sense moving forward. Locally, we have been very careful and listened to the advice from government and the NHS. We know how to minimise the risk and that is exactly what we must now do as part of everyday life. Whether that means wearing a mask at times, keeping a safe distance from others or getting used to washing your hands more often. Keeping ourselves and others safe must be our priority. To keep up to date with the latest advice please go to the government’s website:

Hot Weather
I am pleased to say that we are experiencing some nice summer weather at the moment but, with the heat does come additional risk. Dr Owen Landeg from Public Health England advises, ‘Everybody can be affected by high temperatures and most people are aware of good health advice for coping with hot weather. However, it’s important to keep checking on those who are most vulnerable such as older people and those with heart and lung conditions.’ We all want to enjoy the nice weather but please do it safely. For more news and advice on the current hot weather go to: www.

With more of us looking to stay at home this year for our summer breaks, I am delighted to see many towns and villages preparing for Britain in Bloom. I know things are different this year, but, it is inspiring to see residents taking pride in their local area in this way. I wish all towns and villages the best of luck and thank all those volunteers who dedicate so much time to the local community in this way.
Highway Matters
I am concerned about the amount of correspondence I am getting on highway matters. This varies from speeding traffic

to the condition of roads. I am aware of constituents’ concerns and will be highlighting them to the highway authority and the police. There is a great deal of traffic on our roads and this is particularly evident at the moment because most people are increasing the amount of road journeys they are making. Please remember if you do see a highway fault, from a blocked gully to potholes, please report them to Lancashire County Council using ‘Report It’, by going to: www.
lancashire.gov.uk/roads-parking-andtravel/report-it Get in Touch
As always, my mailbag has been full of letters covering many issues and as I have said highways matters have been prominent. I say it often but, please do keep the letters and emails coming. Although I do pride myself on travelling around the constituency listening to residents, I can’t speak to everyone and it is vital for me to know the issues that concern people on a daily basis in order for me to carry out my role as your member of parliament. As we continue to come out the other side of the pandemic, I know business will take time to recover and I also know some businesses may have questions about our new trade agreement with the EU, please remember I’m here to help. The most effective way to contact me is by email with a brief description of the issues you wish to raise, along with your contact details (including home address). You can also ring my office at the House of Commons or write to me at the House of Commons.
