NY Farming Tower New York City, NY 2015
NYC Sky Condo Competition involves converting a space that is now a parking lot, near the elevated square formed by the High Line’s crossing of 10th avenue and 17th street, in a building that represents the new relationship between people and nature. The competition involves the design of a vertical farm with a residential use in NY and the related reorganization of the environment.

The Cravens Library is a renovation project on the WKU Campus. My responsibilities for this particular project was to design and draft the reception desks, detailing the columns and other aspects, renderings to be used for advertisement and occasional site visits to photograph progress.
Existing Floor plan Proposed Floor plan
The house is wood construction and re-purposed timber beams were added to the living room to give it a more rustic look. The kitchen was opened but with the relocation of the bar and addition of a vaulted ceiling.
The Simpson Residence was a Kitchen Renovation and Sun-room Addition project. My responsibilities for this project included measuring the existing building and drafting as-built, correspondence with the clients to determine the scope of the project, designing and drafting construction documents and details.

The Hotel at Alumni Square Bowling Green, KY 2014
The goal of this Capstone project is to develop a luxury hotel for the Bowling Green downtown area adjacent to the Augenstein Alumni Center. The objective was to create a sustainable luxury hotel that can potentially reflect buildings on the WKU campus and downtown Bowling Green. Feasibility research was conducted in order to determine the amenities and the size of the hotel. This project was presented at the 44th Annual WKU Research Conference particular highlighting the green aspects, sustainable products and materials, the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) district design guidelines, and the International Building Code (IBC). TIF district guidelines and typology research was conducted to learn the restrictions on materials and design in that area so the characteristics of the hotel compliment that of the surrounding buildings.

According to a 2005 World Bank Report, the highest numbers of underweight children are in India, totaling approximately 60 million (nearly doubling that of Sub-Saharan Africa) castes. The report indicates that the problem of malnutrition in India is two pronged: 1.) Food insecurity and 2.) Lack of education among parents on how to improve nutrition using the family food budget and improving childcare behaviors. Additionally, a major contributing factor to food insecurity is the lack of refrigeration throughout the country. To address these issues, WKU and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) deliberated over the creation of a place where families could come to preserve their produce while having the opportunity to receive public health information and engage in learning, resulting in the concept of the Community Nutrition & Education Centre (CNEC). IGNOU began construction on a lab center at the Delhi headquarters that includes a wing for food processing. Students will have the opportunity to learn firsthand how to process meat, fruits & vegetables, dairy, and hone skills in the bakery lab. Two students, including myself, and two advisors started to design the Community Nutrition & Education Centre that would be a prototype for other centers around India. The CNEC’s design is based on best practices of sustainability and incorporates features and amenities that will not only Encourage public outreach, but foster cross-disciplinary research and collaborative activities. .

Program Steps Time
The research for the grant started May 2013 and continued until the end of the Fall Hours:Minutes Semester, 2013. In the Spring semester, the project was presented at the Student ReKerkythea 5 Steps 1 1 00:05 search Conference at Western Kentucky. Apart from the research for the grant, faculty advisor, Shahnaz Aly and I wrote a research paper that was submitted to the Ameri- Autodesk 3ds Max 2 10 Steps 2 00:40 can Society of Engineering Education. The project was presented at the ASEE National Twilight renderer 3 5 Steps 3 40:31 V-ray 4 6 Steps 4 00: 35 Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana the following Summer (June 2014) and won ‘Best Sketch-Up Model N/A a a 30:00 Conference Presentation ‘ in the Architecture Session. Sketch-Up Model b N/A b 30:00 *The same computer was used to conduct all the renderings. All final renderings have been photoshopped rendering programs were chosen by popularity and availability to our students. Faculty-Undergraduate Student Engagement Grant
Three-Dimensional Architectural Visualization in the Digital Environment
FUSE grants are designed to support undergraduate students’ intellectual development by fostering active engagement in the areas of research, creative and scholarly activities, and/or artistic performances. The award for the grant is $3,000 which may be used for material, travel and other research. The intent of this particular FUSE grant was to experiment with different digital tools used for architectural visualization in the three-dimensional environment to find techniques and methods is available to create these graphics and to compare and contrast the outcomes. The students in the Architecture program at WKU are introduced to Sketch-Up in the first year along with AutoCAD. To help the students generate renderings, we research four of the most used plug-in and standalone rendering softwares for Sketch-Up. We then used the same model from Sketch-Up to conduct our research by recording the steps it took to set-up the rendering and how long it took for each program to render the images with the highest resolution possible. After the renderings were completed, we imported the images into Photoshop and studied how many changes were needed for the renderings to be considered Photorealistic.
