THINGS TO DO IN

OCTOBER HALF TERM Pick your own Pumpkin

Step Back in Time

Does anything say Autumn more than a day spent at a pumpkin patch with the fam? Half term falls just before Halloween this year, making it a great time to pick out the best pumpkin. We are spoilt for choice here in Pembrokeshire, with a number of pumpkin patches to choose from, including Heatherton in St Florence, Windsor Farm in Lamphey and Good Hook Pumpkins in Haverfordwest.

Halloween events at Castell Henllys Iron Age Village will begin in the half term, giving visitors the chance to enjoy an autumnal walk and ghostly tour through the enchanting woodland before arriving in the village itself. Here you will be greeted with spine-chilling stories of the creatures and characters of Welsh folklore.

There is also Greenacre Pumpkin Patch in Narberth, Steynton Farm in Milford Haven, and Tenby’s Pumpkin Farm. Whether it’s the biggest, most orange pumpkin you’re after or the tiniest, wartiest pumpkin, you’re sure to find the perfect one.

Seek Some Adrenaline Face your fears with a visit to Oakwood Theme Park for their Spooktacular is a must-do for the family this October Half Term. Prepare to be terrified as the whole theme park transforms into a hair-raising world of fright and spooktacular fun. There’s a costume competition where the scariest costume wins a prize, and even an outdoor maze with horrifying creatures at every turn. Ideal for a family day out.

Explore the Outdoors

The glorious Picton Castle is the perfect location to enjoy a family-friendly day out to celebrate Halloween. There are 60 acres of woodland gardens to explore as well as The Welsh Owl Garden & Zoo. Normal admissions apply for the event where you can follow the spooky door trail, check out the creepy crawlies, get lost in the spider maze, and get crafty in the haunted house.

Once you’re all Halloween-ed out, a visit to the beautiful and peaceful Llys Y Fran Lake is a must. Go for a long walk, cycle around the lake or take part in the many water activities they have there, as well as land-based fun like archery. It’s free to enter and is dog friendly so your pooch won’t miss out on all the fun.

Hop Aboard to Ramsey Island October half term is the perfect time to enjoy holidays in Pembrokeshire. It’s not as crowded as the summer months. This time of year sees the end of seal season, where you’ll find young pups bobbing around their beaches, getting used to their human neighbours. Book a landing on Ramsey Island with our Concierge Team and discover this incredible RSPB Nature Reserve. With its red deer, many bird species and, of course, the seals and their pups; it's the perfect place to go exploring. There’s a 3.5mile walk around the island where you can better spot the amazing birdlife, including guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes, fulmars, peregrine falcons, choughs and ravens.

9

Head Out with a Bang Finish your half term with a bang at the Saundersfoot Big Bang Weekend. This family-friendly Pembrokeshire event combines both Halloween and Bonfire Night. Held over two days, you can expect spooktacular delights and bonfire magic! Jam-packed with activities, including a trick or treat trail, a disco and a fancy dress competition for the little ones, as well as pumpkin carving with plenty of prizes up for grabs. That’s not forgetting the fantastic bonfire activities, a funfair and two fireworks displays over the water. It’s a truly magical event.

Become a True Potterhead October marks that time of year when days are cooler, so you start to rummage your shelves for a good book to sit in and cosy up with. Calling all Potter fans, Freshwater West is actually the filming location of a few scenes in Deathly Hallows Parts 1 and 2. The quirky beachside home was built here for filming but was taken down shortly after. This is also the place where Dobby’s death scene was filmed. Rather than sitting inside reading, head to this gorgeous beach where you’ll find Dobby’s grave tucked away in the sand dunes. The spot is now covered with decorated pebbles to commemorate his death.

As well as brilliant visitor attractions, there are plenty of quiet and beautiful beaches to explore, scenic walks to enjoy and fascinating wildlife to discover. Head to Pembrokeshire this October half term to find out for yourself.

FOOD & DRINK F E S T I VA L If you’re anything like us, you’ll love a good food festival. Quality produce, plenty of tastings and lots of exciting events - what’s not to love? So, you can imagine our faces when we discovered that a brand new festival is being launched right here in Pembrokeshire; the Fishguard Bay Food and Drink Festival.

I

n Pembrokeshire, we have our fair share of food festivals throughout the year. There’s the annual Narberth Food Festival in late September plus two Street Food Festivals; one at South Beach in Tenby in June and another at Milford Waterfront in August. Over the years, we’ve seen the likes of the Really Wild Food Festival (we miss that one!) and Pembrokeshire Fish Week which promises a comeback sometime. Plus there’s the Cardigan River and Food Festival every August - okay, we know the last one is just across the border, but it’s only a breath away so we’re claiming it as one of our own! Hosted by Visit Fishguard, the inaugural Fishguard Bay Food and Drink Festival is set to take place over a two-week period between the 21st of October 2023 and the 4th of November 2023. Events are scheduled across the fortnight with more and more details being announced as the time nears. One thing we know you’ll be pleased to hear is that the famous Fishguard Cawl Crawl is back! 12

This event, organised to showcase the diversity and the quality of the produce that is local to the area, is designed to celebrate all things foodie in Fishguard. The ethos this year is “local, sustainable, nutritional” so expect plenty of home-grown goodies, farming families and local growers sharing their delicacies and expert makers providing top tips.

What's on? Producer’s Market - Saturday 21st October. Head to Ysgol Bro Gwaun between 10am and 4pm where you can purchase a wealth of tasty treats such as cheeses, chutneys, bakes and wines.

Drinks Event - Friday 27th October. Between 6pm and 11pm, Ffwrm is hosting a drinks event. As well as sampling a variety of local beers, spirits and wines, you can also enjoy live entertainment and tuck into sharing platters of tapas.

Cawl Crawl Challenge - Saturday 28th October. Sample homemade cawl from several local eateries then place your vote for your favourite. The establishment with the most votes wins title of Best Cawl for 2023.

Autumn Craft Fair- Saturday 28th October. From 10am to 4pm at the Town Hall, Nourish Bakery is set to hold a Sourdough Clinic. Between 11am and 4pm, bakers Charlie and Monika will be sharing their tips and advice for making delicious sourdough.

Progressive Supper - Wednesday 1st November. Join the Ladies Circle for three courses of delicious meals in different venues across town. (Ticketed event)

CHRISTMAS EVENTS IN

PEMBROKESHIRE To celebrate the upcoming holiday season, we’ve put together some of our favourite festive things to do in Pembrokeshire. Christmas Breaks

20

MAKE THE MOST OF A

COASTAL CHRISTMAS Experience a Festive Saundersfoot December is just one big Christmas extravaganza in the coastal village of Saundersfoot. There are lots of family-friendly events going on throughout the month, from live events to parades and fireworks. Exact dates are yet to be announced, but at the beginning of the month, there’s the switch-on of the Christmas tree and lights in the Sensory Garden where children from the local primary school will gather to sing carols. Throughout the rest of the month, food and drink lovers will be well catered for with the row of Christmas-themed cabins that will make an appearance selling food and gifts.

Head to a Christmas Pantomime You can’t beat a classic Christmas pantomime. This year, for one night only on Sunday 3rd of December, Torch Theatre in Milford Haven is putting on a charming and joyful production of A Winter’s Woodland Tale. Later in the month, this will be followed by a tale as old as pantomime with Beauty and the Beast, running from Friday 15th to Sunday 31st December. Both performances promise to have something for everyone. There will also be a performance of Robin Hood at Theatr Mwldan plus Jack and the Beanstalk at Carmarthen's Lyric Theatre.

22

Celebrate the Winter Solstice at Castell Henllys The longest night of the year happens on Thursday 21st December, so why not celebrate by taking yourself on a winter walk through the woods of Castell Henllys? Have a go at prehistoric crafts and listen to ancient tales and songs next to the crackling yule fire. In the darkest months of the Welsh year, a white horse appears - the mysterious, menacing Mari Lwyd. At the setting of the sun (weather permitting), there will be a small bonfire in the Iron Age village with a chance for you to meet the Mari Lwyd!

Sign up for a Festive-Themed Fun Run One of the most popular festive events in the area is the Tenby Santa Run which runs every year in early December. This annual 3K sees a crowd dressed in Santa suits (included in your entry) take to the streets in this open-road event which runs throughout the heart of Tenby town. Organised by the Tenby Round Table, this event is a fantastic family-friendly fundraiser that we would highly recommend. There’s also the Christmas Pudding Run in Broad Haven which is happening on the 10th of December this year. This charity run will see money raised for this year's nominated charity, Greenacres Animal Rescue. Expect crowds of festive fancy dress. All runners receives a Christmas pudding and a lovely wooden medal, and, as always, there will be a prize for the Best Dressed Runner!

A LT O G E T H E R As well as all the Christmas magic in the air, there are a lot of great things to do in Pembrokeshire that aren’t holiday-related. It’s a gorgeous region of Wales no matter the season, although winter is the perfect time to rejuvenate.

26

Watch the Sunset from the Coast On a clear evening, there is no more romantic sight than watching the sunset over the ocean. During the winter months, it happens early enough for you to make the most of the evening. For uninterrupted sunset views over the waves, head to Whitesands, where the striking cliffs and expanse of sand provide a stunning backdrop for a mesmerising sunset. Just make sure to bring along a flask and some blankets to stay warm and cosy. View of Carn Llidi

Take a Dip in the Sea This may sound like a summer activity, but taking a quick dip in cold water has a lot of health benefits and can be very invigorating. If you need some more encouragement, there’s the Tenby Boxing Day Swim, which is an organised event that sees crowds brave the cold waters at Tenby North Beach. Swimmers can look forward to the warmth of a beach bonfire and hot soup on their return to the beach.

Dog Walks on the Beach Every day is dog day in Pembrokeshire during the winter months. The busy summer months are past us, making it a top time to come on holiday with your dog as it means the beaches become quieter, are less crowded, and the dog restrictions get lifted on all beaches. Our Pembrokeshire beaches are a dog-walker dream. Choose from wide expanses of golden sand, such as Marloes and Newport Sands or secluded bays such as Broadhaven South.

Christmas holidays in Pembrokeshire needn't be all glitz and glitter if you don't want. Make the most of the serene seaside location of the UK's only coastal National Park and have a rejuvenating retreat instead.

HOW TO WELCOME IN THE

NEW YEAR

When visiting Pembrokeshire, there are many ways to celebrate New Year's Eve. Here are some of the best events in the county to help guide you to where you want to be when the clock strikes twelve. New Year Breaks

ABOVE THE SEA

FESTIVE FIRECRACKERS Tenby Fireworks As always, Tenby will be expecting a busy end to the year as New Year revellers head to the seaside town to welcome in 2024 with a bang! This free annual event in Tudor Square sees large crowds gathering to enjoy the countdown and watch the spectacular fireworks display hosted by Tenby House in the centre of the town.

Fishguard Street Party The coastal town of Fishguard has a reputation for holding the best New Year’s Eve street party in the whole of West Wales. Promoted for children and all the family, this party spreads through the whole town. Expect a stage with bands playing music all night, stalls selling food along the street, and pubs to warm the masses. At midnight, the traditional fireworks display sees in 2024. You usually need to buy a wristband for this event as it’s so popular. All the proceeds go back into the event prep for the next New Year event, so you can keep returning year after year.

Saundersfoot Pet-Friendly Display If you’ve planned a getaway in Pembrokeshire this New Year and you don’t want to leave the pooch behind, then Saundersfoot is the place to be. As in 2023, the fireworks on display from the harbour point are set to have a quieter bang again this year to try and avoid much of the stress caused to dogs during traditional fireworks displays. This is to help with the RSPCA’s campaign #BangOutOfOrder which calls for the UK government to urgently review fireworks regulations. The best part of the quieter bang in Saundersfoot is that we have many dog-friendly cottages available in and around the seaside village for this New Year.

Go for a New Year Swim Blow out the cobwebs and start the new year afresh with a New Year’s Day swim. If your head is feeling a little fuzzy from the celebrations of the night before, you’ll find no better cure better than a cold dip in the sea. So kickstart your New Year's with a cold water supercharge for your metabolism and head to Saundersfoot for the traditional New Year's Day Swim. The popular event attracts crowds to the seaside village, with a large percentage in fancy dress! If staying further north of the country, head to the Whitesands New Year’s Day Charity Swim. The local St Davids Penknife Club runs this annual swim at Whitesands, a popular surfing beach on the westernmost tip of Wales. When your teeth stop chattering, you can begin to appreciate the glorious scenery.

Become a Pilgrim? Anyone who would like to begin the new year in more spiritual surroundings will enjoy the New Year concert at St David’s Cathedral, with fantastic entertainment in an even more amazing setting. St Davids Cathedral is also a popular centre for pilgrimage. A popular journey to take part in for some New Year rejuvenation starts at Whitesands and winds its way to St David’s shrine via the Coast Path to St Justinian's, then inland to Porthclais and St Non’s Bay.

Spot the Wildlife If a dip in the sea isn’t for you, there’s the New Year’s Day porpoise watch and walk at Strumble Head which could be more suited. Plan to start the year with a whale of a time. Held by the Sea Trust Conservation charity, the watch will start at Strumble Head observatory at 2pm on January 1st. Sturdy footwear and warm clothing are essential! With all these great events and many more going on around Pembrokeshire, there are plenty of different ways for you to bid a fond farewell to 2023 and celebrate the beginning of 2024.

here better to welcome in a brand new year than by the beach? Start afresh with a big, deep breath of invigorating fresh air and a wander along the sand, letting a positive outlook overcome you ready for the year ahead. But where to stay? Tan Y Bryn in Whitesands is the ultimate beachside accommodation, welcoming up to 7 guests and standing just yards from the seafront. Picture a tall 1930s dwelling with large picture windows plus a bay window or two, just moments from a soft sandy inlet, and you’re on the right track. Tan Y Bryn is a new addition to our portfolio this year, and we admit, we’re in love. Beautifully furnished, just be warned that you may regret having to go home once you’ve spent seven nights here. Tiled floors don the ground floor, where you’ll find a well-equipped kitchen complete with sea views. Both the lounge and dining room are home to warming wood burners, perfect for keeping cosy on those chilly wintry nights. Toast in the New Year with a hearty homecooked meal or say cheers whilst watching Hootenanny and playing board games. That’s if you can’t be tempted to venture into The Bishops or The Farmers Arms in nearby St Davids for a traditional pub celebration. Upstairs lies four bedrooms; a single, a twin and two doubles - one of which boasts an ensuite and sea views, the remainder look out over Tan Y Bryn’s patio and sloping lawn below. In this outside space, you’ll also find a barbecue and outside shower - a welcomed feature for those wishing to take part in the annual Whitesands New Year’s Day Swin in aid of charity. Wash off all sand 40 saltwater remnants outside before hurrying indoors and

to warm those toes in front of the roaring fire. It also comes in handy for washing excess mud off the walking boots after a bracing stroll along the nearby Coast Path. Whilst winter stays here are recommended for a revitalising coastal retreat when life gets a bit overwhelming, we’d recommend making a point to return in the summer too when you can make the most of sunny days with watersports and boat trips to RSPB Ramsey Island. A COMPLETE GUIDE TO

B R O A D H AV E N Overlooking St Brides Bay on the western coast of Pembrokeshire is Broad Haven, a popular beachside village that comes to life during the warmer months of the year as locals and holidaymakers alike flock to the Blue Flag beach that has become the heart of the town.

52

A

large village backs the pretty beach with homes and holiday accommodations situated across the rising landscape and handy facilities easily accessible along the seafront. Broad Haven is a top choice for families in search of a seaside getaway and is always in high demand for summer holidays. Coal mining was a thriving industry to the north with a significant presence around Newgale and Rickets Head, whilst Little Haven developed as a successful fishing village in days gone by. What may surprise those who understand its popularity nowadays, is the fact that Broad Haven was relatively unknown until the 1800s it seems.

Before this time, history suggests that there were only several houses along this stretch - a vast difference from the large settlement that stands there today. So what changed? During the Victorian era, vehicles known as bathing machines were implemented along the sands at Broad Haven and since then, this seaside village has seen an explosion in popularity. These wooden huts provided a discreet changing place for Victorian women to swap from their day clothes into their swimming costumes. Towed by horse, these manned machines were then wheeled into the water, allowing the females to slip into the sea without “parading” across the sands.

What to Do? Watersports and beach days are favoured pastimes here, understandably so as Broad Haven Beach is the main attraction of the village. Being located on the western side of Pembrokeshire, this beach often receives fantastic conditions for surfing and power kiting with good swell and suitable winds for these sports. Beginners can take advice from the locals working at Haven Sports, the village’s own watersports specialist shop, and touring surf schools can sometimes be found here too. During the summer months, this bay is patrolled by RNLI lifeguards creating a safe space for those finding their feet with these sports. You’ll likely find a crowd of locals riding the waves here too when the conditions are right, many of whom are chatty enough to give some top tips if you’re still perfecting your technique.

With one week spent on these breathtaking shores, you'll start new family traditions that you will treasure for a lifetime.

54

Broad Haven Beach is a great all-rounder, perfect for adrenaline-pumping watersports as well as those a little slower in pace. Launch your kayak into the small waves for a leisurely paddle along the coast to sightsee Settlands Beach, Little Haven and Nolton or step out on your paddleboard when the water is still and glassy - it does happen on occasion! The presence of seasonal lifeguards makes Broad Haven a popular destination for bathers, with many young families bringing along toddlers for their first foray into saltwater. In the low season, it’s no stranger to brave open-water swimmers wearing bobble hats wading in for a rejuvenating dip. The lengthy sands are ideal for beach games and sunbathing so make sure to bring a beach towel, a beach ball and plenty of sun cream if you want to fit in. The bay is bracketed on either side by rocky edges creating a splendid spot for rock pooling with the little ones, a fun and free activity to try on sunny and wet weather days. A level-access promenade with plenty of benches, a grassy bank and large concrete steps all provide plenty of seating space for those looking to be hypnotised by the ebbing tide. You might also find a keen fisherman casting their rod here when the tide is in, enjoying angling into the high waters from a dry standpoint. If beach days are not your thing, you’re in luck as there is plenty to do away from the sandy shoreline too.

As with all of the coastal villages dotted along Pembrokeshire, you can easily access the Coast Path from here. Join the seaside trail from the northern end of the beach to start your journey towards Solva, passing by Nolton, Newgale and Porthmynawyd Beaches along the way. To join the southern route, you’ll have to walk the road route to Little Haven or head around the headland at low tide then join it from the Point up the hill. A delightful walk in the area takes you through Haroldston Woods to meet the Coast Path at a more northern point, giving you a lovely circular walk that ends back at Broad Haven. Follow the footpath sign adjacent to the youth hostel in the northern car park and venture up through the wooded valley until you reach St Madoc of Ferns Church. Hang a right on the main road for a few yards before turning left along the road signposted Druidston and as you arrive at the disabled bays, turn left and left again to continue back along the Coast Path. Known as Haroldston Chins, this flat level path between the road and the Coast Path is a relatively unknown accessible walk providing a beautiful viewpoint overlooking the whole of St Brides Bay from Skomer to St Davids. Alternatively, you could take a jaunt along the Boardwalk Project behind The Galleon. Ideal on sunny days, you’ll find a wealth of wildlife in the shrub and pond habitats here with plenty of picnic benches for you to dine alfresco.Broad Haven Beach is a great all-rounder, perfect for adrenaline-pumping watersports as well as those a little slower in pace. Eating and Drinking Broad Haven’s sole pub, The Galleon Inn (dog friendly on the ground floor) can be found on the seafront. Expect a hearty pub menu with daily specials and a calendar of quiz nights / live music. Behind is Sand & Stone Kitchen, well known for its tasty burgers and over the road, you’ll find Off The Hook Bistro - a must for fish and chips. Along the promenade is where you’ll find further eateries; Sunshine Italian where you can eat in or takeaway plus The Ocean Cafe Bar & Restaurant where you can dine on breakfast through to supper with tea and cakes in between. On those warm weather days (and sometimes those not-sowarm days!), an ice-cream van can be found here too so you can live out your daydreams of snacking on a 99 by the seaside.

Annual Broad Haven Events The Pembrokeshire Coast Triathlon takes place annually at Broad Haven during the summer months, usually in late June. Sign up for this swim/ bike/run event to test your endurance against other like-minded souls and experience some of the breathtaking landscape that Pembrokeshire has to offer across three disciplines. You can embrace the festive spirit in early December by taking part in the Christmas Pudding Run. Fancy dress is encouraged for this charity event with runners following a fun-run route around the village and along the seafront.

Our Top Tips for your Visit Broad Haven can become rather busy in the school holidays, particularly when the weather is heatwave-style. Holidaymakers flock here for beautiful beach stays and locals gather on sunny days to make the most of this beachside location but the bustle does die down out of season. If you’re travelling here during peak weeks, we suggest pre-booking a table for dinner to ensure you can eat out when suits you best and perhaps head to the shore a little earlier if you want your pick of the sunbathing spots. seafront.

Two car parks lie at either end of the seafront, both chargeable, though there is an additional free car park to the rear of the southern one only a short drive behind The Galleon Inn. Be aware though, it is small and operates with an honesty box in place asking for donations. Each of the larger car parks has payable public toilets with disabled facilities.

Getting Here Getting to and from Broad Haven couldn’t be easier. It’s only a ten to fifteen-minute drive from Haverfordwest with service bus links available right to the seafront. It’s only a couple of minutes over the hill from Little Haven with Newgale and Nolton easily reached in fifteen minutes along the coastal road. Walkers pass right through the village when journeying along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path of West Pembrokeshire. et just a short walk from some of Pembrokeshire’s best-loved attractions and only a ten-minute drive from the iconic harbourside resort of Tenby, it’s clear to see why guests return for an Ivy Tower Village stay year after year. This village-within-a-village is an ideal place to create memories with your little ones, the dogs and perhaps even the extended family. At Ivy Tower Village, you’ll find 18 privately-owned cottages centred around a pretty communal courtyard with access to an impressive selection of shared facilities like a heated indoor swimming pool and outdoor playground. Several of these pastel-painted retreats can be booked directly with us here at Coastal Cottages of Pembrokeshire, perfect when you’re holidaying together as larger groups who each want their own space. Nestled amongst the quaint village of St Florence and overlooking the picturesque Ritec Valley, you’ll have all your favourite days out practically on your doorstep when you choose to make this setting your base. Just around the corner, you’ll find not one but four incredible attractions - that’s one for every day if you’re only staying for a short break!

Head to Heatherton Adventure Park for a dog-friendly day out and work your way through a bucket list of activities such as bumper boats, mini golf, baseball, archery, go-karting and pistol shooting. The park itself is free to enter and works on a credit pass system where you redeem credits against only the activities you want to take part in meaning if you’re taking along someone happier just to watch, there’s no entry fee. You can also have a go at the Escape Rooms here, try indoor bowls or take to the golf green, plus there’s a dog agility course too! Credit passes and Escape Room bookings can be made via our Concierge team here at Coastal Cottages. Opposite Heatheron lies Manor Wildlife Park where you can take a self-guided walking tour sightseeing llamas, tigers and emus before passing by Camel Corner and Hoppington Green where the giant rabbits reside. Snap a picture of a warty pig, a pygmy goat, a gibbon and a Kune Kune pig too. You can even walk through certain enclosures to get up close and personal with the likes of lemurs, red pandas, wallabies and apes.

You'll find several shared facilities including the heated indoor swimming pool, sauna and outdoor playground.

IDEAL FOR GROUPS For something a little more “Jurassic”, try The Dinosaur Park but be careful. You’ll find life-size dinos hiding amongst the woodland here giving plenty of photo opportunities - if you’re brave enough to go near them that is! A range of rides and activities make up the rest of the park with a maze, giant jigsaws, footgolf and racing cars to name but a few. One of Pembrokeshire’s newest attractions recently opened up along this road too, Great Wedlock Farm and Deer Park. A whopping 175 acres of grounds here is home to some 200 deer who roam free amongst their habitat. You can stroll through the park enjoying beautiful views across the valley as your backdrop or book onto a safari and enjoy a ride along in a 4x4 all-terrain buggy. After your exploration, cosy up for a cuppa at Bambi’s Coffee Shop, have fun at the playground or head to the cinema barn to catch a movie.

Further afield, you are only minutes from Tenby’s golden sands where you’ll have four beaches to choose from and a plethora of activities including Caldey Island day trips. Grab a bite to eat at

Tap & Tan, pick up freshly made bread at Loafley or try fish and chips from Feccis - a must! Spend a morning at the Tudor Merchant’s House, try coasteering or visit during the warmer months to attend Long Course Weekend, a Summer Spectacular and Ironman Wales. Along the coastline is Saundersfoot, a haven for watersports and shopping with a lengthy beach ideal for paddleboarding and a seafront bustling with seaside stores. Dine out at The Stone Crab or The Boathouse for a scrumptious meal, head to HARBWR for a locally made pint or pick up Pembrokeshire-made Welsh cakes from MamGu’s.

Just around the corner, you'll find not one but FOUR incredible attractions With so many fantastic ways to spend your days at your fingertips, it is no wonder that Ivy Tower Village has been welcoming hundreds of happy guests for years now. But how do you know which of the properties at this holiday complex is the right one for you? That’s where we come in. The simplest way to start narrowing down your options

is by taking a look at how many people each cottage accommodates. Crofters Cottage is the smallest property we have available here in terms of occupancy, welcoming five people and one pet. This stylish home-from-home boasts a location looking out across the village meadow; the best views can be enjoyed from the Victorian-style conservatory where you’ll find your dining room. Three bedrooms make up Crofters Cottage; a double, a twin and a single all upstairs. Downstairs is an open-plan living space with an electric fire and wooden floors, creating a lovely cosy atmosphere. WiFi is available in this property. If you’re in need of a property for 6, we currently have four available for you to choose from. The Woolpack and Weavers Cottage lie firmly in the heart of the houses at Ivy Tower Village whilst Dairy Cottage and Woodland Cottage both stand overlooking the meadow. All four share communal WiFi.

The Woolpack, set in the middle of a row, boasts a contemporary interior throughout. Clean neutrals flow through all rooms with lightly-coloured solid wood flooring downstairs and painted white beams above. A plush suite awaits in the lounge for relaxing evenings whilst a family dining table can be found in the conservatory dining room that looks out across the central village green. Follow the staircase up to the three bedrooms; one double, one twin and a children’s bunk room. This property welcomes up to two pets. Next door to The Woolpack lies Weavers Cottage providing a perfect side-by-side pair for two families travelling together. Step into this pale-pink holiday home to discover an inviting open-plan living space with an archway from the kitchen into the lounge with two matching sofas and an electric woodburner-style fire. The upstairs layout mimics that of its neighbour, with a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a children’s bunk room. Weavers Cottage is also dogfriendly, accepting two pets per booking.

Only ten minutes from Tenby's golden sands and a plethora of activities. 84

Dairy Cottage can be found in the middle of an adjacent terrace, easily recognised by the exterior where exposed stonework fronts the lower half of the property and the upper half is painted pale blue. Accepting only one pet, the first floor follows suit of the two previously mentioned with a double, a twin and a children’s bunk making up the three bedrooms. The ground floor is almost entirely openplan with a warmly decorated living room furnished with a comfortable leather suite. The dining room conservatory is where you can enjoy family meals whilst enjoying views across the communal meadow. A patio door leads straight out to the village’s open spaces giving easy access to the play area and picnic areas. Further along this same row of houses, occupying an end-of-terrace position is Woodland Cottage next to the aforementioned Crofters Cottage. A pet-free property, this is a real sun-trap making dining in the conservatory a particular treat during summer months. Fresh and vibrant colours decorate each room; the lounge is home to two vivid blue leather sofas and the double bedroom also uses

this bright blue as an accent colour. The twin room balances a refreshing yellow and blue decor whilst the children’s bunk room is painted a soothing lilac hue. Access to the green spaces outdoors couldn’t be easier with a patio door from the open-plan downstairs.

beams above are painted a fresh white, whilst the wellequipped kitchen spills out into the room with a handy worktop space. Opposite the kitchen archway is an opening leading into the conservatory dining room, a charming space for family feasts in all seasons.

Last in our collection of six available-to-rent holiday homes here at Ivy Tower Village is Ivy Tower House. The largest of the group, Ivy Tower House welcomes a total of twelve guests plus two pets, making it the top choice for larger parties looking to share one roof. You’ll find this property standing prominently in the centre of the village by the petite village green, just a short walk from the shared facilities like the swimming pool, children’s playground and meadow.

One double bedroom can be found downstairs with its own ensuite shower room and the remaining five bedrooms can be located upstairs. On the first floor is a double bedroom and a children’s bunk, plus two rooms where you can choose whether they are set up as twins or superking beds. The last bedroom is also a bunk room, with a double bed underneath and a single bed above. Bathroom facilities can be found on both floors here with a bath and showers for your use. Ivy Tower House has its own WiFi.

Several modern leather sofas and armchairs face the electric-fire focal point in the lounge, where the

any of our guests book the same cottage to stay in year after year, and have now been staying in that very same cottage for nigh on twenty years. And we don’t blame them! When you find the perfect holiday cottage which suits your needs, it really does become a home away from home. But why settle for a home away from home? Why not make plans to make your favourite holiday cottage your permanent home? Of course, we can’t guarantee everyone’s favourite holiday home will one day be up for sale, but can promise to help you find your own piece of Pembrokeshire. Just imagine your own little plot of Welsh land where you can lay your head 365 days a year, where your doggie can roam free from urban life and where you are surrounded by rolling green fields and beautiful blue seas. After years and years of our guests saying to us, “let us know if the owner decides to sell”, about their favourite cottages, we set up our real estate sister company, Coasty. Specialising in unique and distinct properties throughout Pembrokeshire, you’re sure to find a real gem in Coasty’s portfolio.

You may discover a magnificent beachside property with panoramic sea views, a rural haven in the depths of the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, or an idyllic renovated farmhouse just moments from the Coast Path. Finding your new home needn’t be a stressful occasion either. Let our friendly and professional team at Coasty help guide you through the process and find the right property which ticks every box. Whether that be a convenient village location, must-have water views, a remote setting or ample parking with room to store your boat - just let us know. Don’t forget, we can also let your new house for you when you’re not staying there. After all, a little extra spending money always comes in handy right?

t our heart, we are a local holiday cottage company who have been at the forefront of the self-catering industry for almost 40 years. Pioneering the quality end of the market, plus national and international marketing, Coastal Cottages has gained a reputation that has seen over 70% repeat business every year. Here at Coastal Cottages, our owners are an important part of the family and we’re always keen to extend that family – but we do only take on around 20% of the properties we are offered. First up, we want to stress that we’re not a call centre, nowhere near in fact. We are not in the business of processing visitors, we are quite the opposite. We’re a family-run company with a small team, all of whom live locally so we have a personal connection to the county around us and to what we do. We offer first-hand advice and guidance to guests. We’ve even established a Concierge team who work closely with local businesses to offer a holiday experience like no other. Our owners receive that same personalised advice and reliable service. Our Team schedule regular property visits throughout the year ensuring we get to know our cottages inside-out to give guests that extra level of service. As a future owner who wants to offer the very best, we’ll help you get there, even if that means casting our eye over interior design choices, helping choose the right facilities and giving our opinion when you’re looking for new properties to add to your collection. We’ve learnt that no two properties are the same but luckily for us, no two guests are the same either. That’s why we endeavour to be flexible and personal throughout our service. And clearly, that ethos works. Many of our current collection has been with us since the days when we had only a handful of cottages and a small team back in the early 80s. Nowadays, most of these cottages are owned by the next generation, and we’re delighted they’ve chosen to stay part of the Coastal Cottages family. If you don’t live locally or simply find the daily

At Coastal Cottages, we are the only agency to offer a full management package giving you peace of mind that everything will be dealt with professionally and efficiently on your behalf. With our own team of tradesmen and housekeepers, we can take care of the weekly changeovers and any maintenance needed. We can be as involved as you want us to be, from scheduling your annual PAT tests to making sure the garden is freshly cut, week in week out. Marketing Pembrokeshire is our speciality, and it is all done internally. We have dedicated online, social and press teams which promote nationally and internationally. We also work closely with online travel agents and overseas agents to promote your cottage overseas as well as to the UK market.
