The transition areas are clearly marked on the route. The following runner will wait in the side of the route on the transition area for their turn. The transition is made by passing the relay baton from one runner to another. The runners must change the relay baton provided by the organizer in the transitions. The running distances are approximately 15, 8, 7 and 12 kilometers. The transition areas are located in Merisatamanranta (Kaivopuisto) at 15 km, Karamzininranta at 23 km and Pikkuniemi at 30 km. The transition areas are located in places that are relatively easy to reach by public transport. There is no transportation arranged to the transition areas. The runners will get to the transition areas by public transportation. From https://reittiopas.hsl.fi/ you find easily
the realtime public transport of Helsinki and also from the picture below (Helsinki City Marathon Relay directions for public transportation). Helsinki public transport ticket is included in the entry fee and you will get the tickets when picking up the race numbers. We recommend all relay runners to leave in time for the transition areas as the transportation may take some time.
