Essen is, in 2010 and along with the Hungarian Pecs and the Turkish Istanbul, one of the three European capitals of Culture. Europe has chosen in the heart of Germany, one of the cities symbolizing the Industrial Revolution, who has been through deep mutations during the 20th century.
