This joint publication provided by the County of Henrico offers a variety of services, events, classes, and programs available through the Division of Recreation and Parks and the Public Library. Our Mission
The Division of Recreation and Parks exists to enhance the quality of life and to foster a sense of well being and community for the citizens of Henrico County. This is accomplished through management of resources and by facilitating leisure services and recreational opportunities in safe and well maintained environments.
Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission
Historic Preservation Advisory Committee
The Henrico Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission represents the citizens of Henrico County and provides them with a voice in parks planning, programs, activities, and services. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 7pm at the Human Services Building.
The Committee advises the Henrico County Board of Supervisors regarding the identification, interpretation, rehabilitation, protection, and preservation of historical and cultural resources located within the County. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 8:30am at the Human Services Building.

A $50 service charge will be assessed in addition to any check or electronic debit that is returned unpaid as allowed by the Code of Virginia and the Code of Henrico County.
REGISTRATION NOTES & TIPS
JUST IN CASE...
• A minimum number of participants is needed for a program to be held. (Usually evaluated one week prior.)
Refunds: Written requests for refunds must be received 10 working days prior to program start date.
• Registration may be accepted up until one business day prior to the start date, if space is available and enrollment meets the minimum number of attendees.
Satisfaction Guaranteed! If our program does not meet your expectations, send us an email or letter. We will gladly refund your money. (No refunds allowed after first scheduled day of play for adult sports leagues.)
• Participants must be the required age by the first day of the program, unless otherwise stated. • Used our online registration before? Test out your login, and make sure all of your family information is up-to-date!

Financial Assistance: Limited financial assistance is available to Henrico County residents who qualify. Required information must be approved prior to enrollment for each program guide season. (Cannot be applied to golf camp and programs offered by other agencies.) SPECIAL ACCOMODATIONS
If you have a disability and will need assistance or special accommodations in order to enjoy a program, check the accommodation box on the registration form and call Therapeutic Recreation at 501-5135 no later than ten working days prior to the program date. Notification is required for each program and new participants must submit paperwork 10 days prior to the start of the program.

Based on old folk tales, Jack is a smart but simple country man and is about to marry a wealthy farmer’s only daughter, Buttons. Based on Ernest Thayer’s beloved 1888 poem, Casey at the Bat, the fictional baseball legend of Casey and the town of Mudville springs vividly to life in the present day. A comedy by Caroline Francke, from the novel by Edward Streeter. Daughter Kay announces her engagement out of nowhere. Mrs. Banks and her sons are happy, but Mr. Banks is in a dither. The guest list grows larger by the day, a caterer is called in, florists, furniture movers and dressmakers take over, and the Banks household is soon caught in turmoil – not to mention growing debt. But of course, despite last minute crises, the wedding comes off beautifully and father of the bride is a happy and proud man. Tickets on sale Jun 6.

Inclusion Services:
Families of children with disabilities that need extra assistance should call Jennifer Godfrey at 501-5135 to discuss special accommodations and request an inclusion packet. Packets must be completed and returned by May 15 in order to qualify for inclusion services at a camp. This does not guarantee registration; you must also register for camp(s) beginning April 16.
Medications:
If your child requires rescue medication(s) during camp hours (including an inhaler or epi-pen), check the box on the registration form or online and call Jennifer Godfrey (Therapeutic Recreation) at 501-5135. A medication form will be required and must be completed and signed by a parent/legal guardian and physician.

Preschoolers (3-6) Fun in the Sun Preschool Camp
Ages 3-5. Camp offers young children one-week sessions. Fun in the Sun Campers engage in activities such as arts and crafts, hikes, science, music, stories, building, and of course, imaginative play time with friends. Children must be toilet-trained. Camp Henrico Therapeutic Recreation Open to individuals with disabilities who meet minimum eligibility requirements, which include independence in toileting, feeding and dressing. Individuals with behavioral issues that compromise the safety of any individual (including themselves) will be reviewed on a case by case basis. Those with intensive medical conditions requiring assistance of medical personnel or equipment will also be reviewed individually. Participants are expected to function with a maximum staffing support of 1:3. Therapeutic Recreation camps offer opportunities for peer interaction and development of social and life skills and a positive self-image through a variety of activities. Instructors will adapt projects and work with a variety of skill levels. Field trips to be announced prior to camp start date. Summer Blast and Teen Scene Camp FAQ’s 1. How do I find more information for camp? The Parent Handbook is an excellent resource for all questions you may have. The handbook will be emailed and there will be copies at each camp site. 2. What should my child bring to camp? Campers should bring their lunch*, a snack, beverage and a refillable water bottle daily. Campers will have reading time, so campers can bring their own book, if they’d like. *Participants who are registered at a feeding site will be provided with breakfast and lunch if they arrive before 9:15am. 3. What will my child do at camp? Have lots of fun! The staff at each site plans the activities for the whole summer. A calendar will be posted at the site the first day of camp. 4. How does the waitlist work? Should a spot become available, you will receive a call at the phone number provided offering you the opportunity to register for that space. You will have 24 hours to confirm and register. 5. How do I make changes to my registration? Changes to site location (transfers) and cancellation requests may be sent to recandparks@henrico.us. Students learn basic first aid, search and rescue, and fire suppression techniques. But more importantly, they learn how to prepare for a disaster long before one occurs. Students must commit to attend ALL FOUR training sessions at Libbie Mill Library AND a four-hour scenario drill Friday, July 1, at a time to be announced. Successful completion will earn each student a total of 24 hours of community service. This course is limited to 15 high school students (grades 9 – 12, rising 9th graders accepted). Applications will be accepted from April 1 through May 14 in the Libbie Mill Library Teen Room.
