Take Control and Surrender With the ability to have two jail pods for incarcerating inmates available since March of 2011 a noticeable improvement in the fail to appear rate has been realized. Prior to March 2011 with only one jail pod available the criminal justice system lacked the ability to hold offenders accountable. Persons under supervision find themselves fugitives of the law for failing to appear in court or failing to abide by conditions of parole and probation. Frequently failure to appear in court is a conscious decision on the part of the offender but there are times when offenders discover that they have a warrant for their arrest and the warrant is a surprise to them. If you are an offender with your information included in this publication, it is in your best interest to surrender yourself to the jail or to your Probation/Parole Officer to take care of the warrant. Self surrender does not guarantee you a shorter stay in jail but does

put a bit of control of your own destiny back in your hands. It is much better to surrender at the jail or to your Probation/Parole officer at the time of your choosing, rather than being pulled over with children or other family members in the vehicle and taken to jail or being picked up at home or from work. One piece of information for those with warrants from Circuit Court that could be helpful is that if you are in custody prior to 6am on a day that court is in session, you will be arraigned on your circuit court warrant at 1:30pm that day. If you are arrested or surrender after 6am, you will not be arraigned until 1:30 the next court day. Take responsibility for your actions and have some control over your arrest. Surrender to the jail or to your Probation/Parole officer. It’s the right thing to do. Provided by Lt. Davidson KFSO
