Ramona Hage Morrison has been actively involved in a successful 22-year long case involving her family’s ranch vs. the USFS and BLM. She has worked on private property policy during much of her professional career, including in Washington D.C. She is an expert witness on property title, in particular western ranches and farms, with extensive knowledge regarding vested irrigation and stock water rights. She served as a title witness in her family’s case, U.S. v. Hage. She will talk about the landmark Hage litigation, and why an exhaustive chain of title was the key evidence necessary to defend their vested water rights, forage rights, range improvements and rights of ways.

Gabino Daniel (Danny) Martinez Danny Martinez was born into a first generation Arizona ranching family in 1944. He is the CEO of Liberty and Property Rights Coalition and is involved in the livestock industry in Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada. He currently has a property rights case involving his family’s ranch before the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. He is a consultant for Otero County New Mexico on issues involving federal public law and resource law. He will discuss the mission and purpose of Liberty and Property Rights Coalition.

KLAMATH CLAIMS COMMITTEE NEW RELEASE The United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit recently upheld the dismissal of claims brought by the committee in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims on the basis, in part, that the Committee was an agency of the Klamath Indian Tribes, which it is not. The Committee also has pending a motion to intervene in the tribal trust fund case of Nez Perce v. Salazar, Case No. 06-CY-2239, in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia; and the Committee believes that the Federal Circuit decision was incorrect on the facts and the law and it ignored the statutory rights of the Final Enrollees and their heirs and legatees as a statutory class. The Committee seeks to avoid a similar result in the D.C. District Court by withdrawing as a plaintiff and substituting in its place individual Final Enrollees or their heirs and legatees as plaintiffs for themselves and the entire class of 1954 Membership, or as the heirs and legatees of deceased Final enrollees have voluntarily agreed to do so. The Claims Committee has authorized that as final enrollees or as the heirs and legatees of deceased final enrollees, to be added as plaintiffs in the D.C. District Court action on the understanding that these individuals have consented to this action.
