Peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC)
A peripherally inserted central catheter is a thin, soft, flexible tube for IV administration inserted into a vein on the upper arm. Once inserted and secured, it’s possible to move and use your arm normally until treatment is complete.
A midline catheter is used for veins larger than those used in a normal IV therapy treatment. Midlines are used for short treatment plans where patients are getting IV medications for 1-4 weeks.
Blood tests are a common method of diagnosing health issues in any part of the body. When patients need blood tests for medical diagnoses, draw enough blood via a central IV line to send away for lab testing.
