at Brown’s Mill School

The Brown’s Mill School in the Village of Kauffman was a one-room school that served local children from 1836 to 1921. It will be open on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 6 and 7, during Old Home Week. SHAWN HARDY

The historic Brown’s Mill School at the intersection of Angle and Brown’s Mill roads in the

Village of Kauffman will be open 12:30 to 5 p.m.

The school was built in 1836, two years after the

Pennsylvania Legislature passed the Free School
