We encourage participants to register at least one week in advance of the course start date, if not sooner. All registration fees must be accompanied by a completed Photo/Registration/Waiver form. Programs, services, and courses may be cancelled or combined due to lack of registration or low enrollment. Proof of residency will be required upon registration. (RESIDENTS ARE THOSE WHO RESIDE WITHIN THE HERCULES CITY LIMITS.) Because the Activity Guide is prepared months prior to being published, there may be times that the program information changes (i.e. time, location, cost, etc). Therefore, your customer receipt should be relied on for correct information. If you are ever unsure of your program information, please contact us to confirm the program details. REFUND/CANCELLATION/ TRANSFER POLICY Refunds and/or transfers will be granted on or before the first class meeting. No refunds or transfers will be granted after the first class meeting. There is a $10.00 service charge on all refunds/transfers initiated by the participant. If the course is canceled by the City of Hercules Parks & Recreation Department, the participant will have the option of transferring to a similar program, or receiving a full refund. Refunds may be given after a course has begun due to a particular medical condition if a doctor’s note is provided. These refunds are at the discretion of the Recreation Director. PHOTO LIABILITY DISCLOSURE Photographs may be taken of participants during the course of activities or classes, these photographs may be used in the City of Hercules Parks & Recreation Activity Guide, publications, and/or website. 4

Community Produce Program

The Hercules Senior Center offers a Community Produce Program which distributes free produce twice a month. This program is available to those who meet the income guidelines. The Community Produce Program supplies produce to one person per family. Please bring one or two bags with handles to the trailer next to Hercules City Hall to collect the produce. Tiny Tots & Childcare Programs Tiny Tots Programs August 2015-June 2016

Parks and Recreation offers three Tiny Tots programs; Little Learners for age 3, Pre-Kindergarten for age 4 and Junior Kindergarten for those who are of kindergarten age, but didn’t make the deadline of September 1, 2015 requiring them to be 5 years old. These programs are designed to introduce children to their first pre-school experience and perhaps to their first experience with socialization skills. Children are encouraged to speak up for themselves and to develop the self-confidence to try new things. All children must be completely toilet trained and no pullups. Tiny Tots is a thematic-based program with an academic component in all classes. There is an annual $50 registration fee per child, which will increase to $100 for July and August. Fees may be increased with a 30-day notice. All Tiny Tots programs for this upcoming Fall are currently filled, but we are taking a waiting list for them.

This workshop uses robot building and computer programming to teach science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts within a recreation setting. Through the use of the LEGO Mindstorms NXT 2.1 kit, software, and laptop computers, the workshop experience is designed to be hands-on and project-based. All equipment and supplies are provided for use. Although some participants may have had experience with general LEGO kits, simple robot building and simple programming, assume no prior experience. After introductory training, students will be able to program autonomous robot tasks (challenges) and games. Instructor Peter Margolis is a California credentialed middle and high school teacher. Academically, he holds three masters degrees in Recreation Administration, MBA, and education.

Have fun while learning to draw, paint, design, mix colors, and Junior Lego Robotics (1st-2nd Grade) combine colors, lights, shadows and composition perspective. Refunds and/or transfers will be granted on or before the first class meeting. No refunds or transfers will be granted after the first class meeting. There is a $10.00 service charge on all refunds/transfers initiated by the participant. If the course is canceled by the Hercules Parks & Recreation Department, the participant will have the option of transferring to a similar program, or will be granted a full refund minus credit card surcharges. Refunds may be given after a course has begun due to a particular medical condition if a doctor’s note is provided. These refunds are at the discretion of the Recreation Staff. There are 4 different locations within the City where City-authorized advertising banners may be placed to assist with the promotion of businesses, programs, and events. There are 7 different locations where signboards are placed throughout the City for advertisement purposes. Signboards are a great way to promote an event and/or program throughout the city. This is one of the most popular ways to get people’s attention. The sizes of the signboards are 23x31 inches and we print them in house. The price for signboards is $10.00 per signboard per day.
