Heritage Golf Group President & CEO Meet Mark Burnett

Everything we do at Heritage Golf Group is centered on one goal: create memorable and welcoming communities for our club members and guests. Our entire executive team is committed to supporting our 3,300+ employees, making significant capital investments and driving value at every level.

Our Employee Engagement & Growth

Existing employees of acquired clubs choose to stay post acquisition, and Heritage Golf Group chooses to keep existing employees in place for the long term. Retention of employee leaders at the club level upon acquisition is remarkably highgreater than 90 percent. Heritage understands that the high quality of its clubs is directly related to the high quality of its valuable employees at the club level.

How do we do it?

Mark Burnett has served as Heritage Golf Group’s President and CEO since January 2020.

Mark previously was President and COO of ClubCorp (now Invited), where he was responsible for operations, acquisitions, sales and reinvention of the multibillion dollar company from 2007 through mid 2018. During his leadership, more than 70 new clubs were acquired and over $750 million was reinvested into club facilities and amenities, causing club memberships to skyrocket.

Mark has also held executive leadership positions at various golf companies and has significant entrepreneurial experiences outside of golf as well. He has a myriad of industry experience participating in advisory boards, panels and speaking engagements with organizations such as Golf 2020, NGCOA, PGA of America “Growing the Game” and the National First Tee. Mark holds a B.S. in business management from Indiana University.

The Heritage Cares Foundation

Heritage Golf Group knows how important it is to support each other in time of need. That’s why the Heritage Cares Foundation was created. Heritage Cares Foundation is a fund available to employees to help during life’s emergencies. This fund is activated in response to unforeseen hardships, like natural disasters and family illnesses.

Our Process:

Heritage Golf Group has a highly successful process for creating a smooth transition for club members and employees. Upon acquiring a club, the company first hosts a series of meetings and focus groups with employees and club members, to find out what they want to see in an owner/operator. Only after these conversations take place will Heritage Golf Group develop an enhanced operations and capital improvement plan. Heritage establishes a Board of Advisors and special committees that give employees and members opportunities to provide input on the club’s future and stay informed about progress.

Heritage Golf Group commits sizable investments to improve its newly acquired clubs, overseen by a specialized team of designers and construction managers with the proven ability to transform a club into a vibrant market leader.
