During this time one of the two courses will remain open, and we offer a reciprocal play program with other Local courses to ensure you have a smooth playing surface.
AUDUBON COOPERATIVE SANCTUARY CERTIFICATION TPC Prestancia is proud to be one of the globally recognized Audubon Cooperative Golf Sanctuaries. This certification helps us protect the environment and preserve the natural heritage of the game. Many golf courses around the country are involved in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary program, but few complete the rigorous certification process. The certification process is designed to recognize and support golf courses that have worked to ensure a high degree of environmental quality for both people and wildlife. There are six certification categories to satisfy in order to be recognized as a Certified Cooperative Sanctuary. The six categories are: Environmental Planning, Wildlife and Habitat Management, Chemical Use, Reduction and Safety, Water Conservation, and Water Quality Management, Outreach and Education. On March 22, 1997, TPC Prestancia became the 151st golf course to receive full certification. The Club is evaluated every two years for compliance and continued environmental enhancement. TPC Prestancia also hosts an Audubon
Conservationist presentation each year to educateand share the wildlife we have in the region. Members are also invited to participate in the Property Audubon Bird count each winter. We typically locate over 130 different types of birds on the courses.
THOR GUIDE LIGHTENING PREDICTION SYSTEM Lightning is a severe hazard that must be viewed seriously! Players should stop play and seek shelter any time they believe lightning threatens them, even if a signal has NOT been sounded. Players will be warned by our Thor Guard Lightning Prediction System which sounds ONE prolonged blast of the horn to signal suspension of play. All players must leave their respective hole and return to the clubhouse or go to a proper shelter. Resumption of play is signaled by THREE short blasts of the horns. Lightning notices will also be transmitted through the golf cart’s GPS device for your convenience. All play MUST stop when the siren sounds and players must seek shelter—All Staff abides by these safety rules.
REPORTING INCIDENTS WITH WILDLIFE ON THE GOLF COURSES If you come in contact with injured wildlife, please contact the Golf Shop and provide the following information: the location of the animal/bird (hole number, golf course, street, etc.), type of animal/bird and the condition the animal/bird is in. The Golf Shop will contact Wildlife, Inc. and give the specific details of the situation. If you come in contact with injured wildlife during a day/time when the Golf Shop is closed, please contact Wildlife, Inc. directly at 941-778-6324.

Preferred lies are in effect when, due to local abnormal conditions such as prolonged rains, riding carts are restricted to the cart paths on the Stadium Course or to the rough on the Players Course, or when such restrictions are in place for a particular hole or holes. Under these circumstances Model Local Rule E-3 is in effect when a
player’s ball lies in a part of the general area cut to fairway height and the size of the relief area is one scorecard length or 6 inches. 6. Bulkheads. Bulkheads, retaining walls and pilings are an integral part of the golf course from which no relief is available. Where a bulkhead adjoins a lake or other body of water, the penalty area is defined by the edge of the bulkhead furthest from the water. 7. Immovable Obstructions Close to Putting Greens. Model Local Rule F-5 is in effect allowing relief when a sprinkler head or other immovable obstruction is on the line of play and within two club-lengths of the putting green and within two club-lengths of the ball. 8. Edging Grooves Near Putting Greens.
Model Local Rule F-19 is in effect. Relief is available only for lie of ball or area of intended swing. 29 TPC-PRESTANCIA | MEMBER HANDBOOK
CONCEDED PUTTS AND INCOMPLETE HOLES When a player fails to hole out, in either stroke play or match play, the Handicap System requires that a score be posted. Section 4-1 of the USGA Handicap System Manual states, “If a player starts but does not complete a hole or is conceded a stroke, he/she shall record for handicap purposes the score he/she most likely would have made. The most likely score
consists of the number of strokes already taken, plus, in his/her best judgment, the number of strokes that the player would need to complete the hole from that position more than half of the time.” If you play at least 7 holes, you are required to post a 9-hole score. If you play at least 13 holes, you are required to post an 18-hole score. For those holes you did not play, you are required to take a par plus any strokes allocated on those particular holes.
