Woman Who Miraculously Survived an Abortion at 8 Months Meets Her Birthmother

Melissa Ohden was not supposed to survive. The now 42-year-old Missourian should have been killed in a late-term abortion at the hands of her own grandmother, but she did not. Ohden lived and a family adopted her, but, for decades, neither she nor her birth mother knew exactly what had happened the day of her birth. Recently, she and her birth mother, Ruth, told their story to The Sun. They shared about heartbreak, lies, secrets, a seemingly hopeless search and finally reunification.

When Ruth was 19 and pregnant, she was pressured by her mother, a nurse, into aborting Melissa. Ruth said she did not want the abortion, but her mother insisted. Afterward, Ruth was told that the abortion had been successful and her baby was discarded as “medical waste.” For many years, she did not know that Melissa had survived. Ohden said, “I had been ‘laid aside’ but two nurses took it into their hands to save me and I was taken to neo-natal intensive care where amazingly I survived.” A miracle baby, Ohden was adopted into a loving home. She said her parents were open with her about the fact that she was adopted, but she did not learn that she had survived an abortion
until she was 14. “After finding out, I internalized my pain and let everyone think I was fine, but inside I was devastated,” she remembered. “I struggled in a huge way and started drinking. I couldn’t control the very way I came into the world so I freaked out.” When she was 19, she began searching for her birth parents. Ohden told The Sun that more than a decade went by before she found her birth father. Not long afterward, however, she said she learned that he had died. Then, in 2013, Ohden said she received a call from her biological mother’s cousin. That connection eventually linked the mother and daughter together. Scientists Edited Genes of Unborn By: Lifenews.com Babies. When the Experiment Failed, They Killed the Babies An experiment that involved editing the DNA of unborn babies at their earliest stage of life and then destroying them ended in disaster, scientists in London reported this month. Medium reports the research by biologist Kathy Niakan and her team at the Francis Crick Institute is being widely regarded as a warning sign about the dangers of trying to create a genetically modified human being. Niakan used the CRISPR gene-editing technology to experiment on 25 human embryos, all less than 14 days old, according to the report. Although the embryos were in their earliest stage of life, they already were individual human beings with their own unique DNA. According to the report,
the London scientists used CRISPR to remove a gene known as POU5F1 in 18 of the embryos. Afterward, when they examined the 18 embryos and compared them to the seven that had not had their DNA edited, the scientists said about half had major DNA abnormalities that they did not intend. Though the full impact of DNA editing is unknown, the scientists predicted that the abnormalities could cause birth defects, cancer and other problems, the report states. It also is unknown how DNA edits could affect any future children of those children. What they found was that of the edited embryos, 10 looked normal but eight had abnormalities across a particular chromosome. Of those, four contained inadvertent deletions or additions of DNA directly adjacent to the edited gene. A major safety concern with using CRISPR to fix faulty DNA in people has been the possibility for “off-target” effects, which can happen if the CRISPR machinery doesn’t edit the intended gene and mistakenly edits someplace else in the genome. But Niakan’s paper sounds the alarm for so-called “on-target” edits, which result from edits to the right place in the genome but have unintended consequences. After the experiment, the scientists said they destroyed all the embryos. The Spirit Of Truth Dear Reverend, Because I am politically-minded, I have many women friends who meet in our coffee klatch to discuss on-going events in our government. It can be very stimulating, and usually my friends look to me for direction and input. I am the senior in our group and am an ordained minister. Recently, my lady friends (all but three of them) traveled to our Capitol to take part in a march against the established laws of the land – some old, some new. After watching the news on TV, I was so glad that I had stayed home! It was with great embarrassment that I saw women cursing and screaming, with much immodest dress. It was ugly, and I don’t know what it accomplished. Now, because I did not participate in the march, I feel rather

Today, women are on the front lines
fighting alongside men. This is not something new. Christian women, God’s ‘Warrior Women’, play a very decisive role. Women who do not understand the power of God or how He enables us, try to do other things for recognition. But, a ‘Warrior Woman’ derives her wisdom, strength, and power fromGod. Let’s look at two Warrior Women in the Bible for our examples. Deborah, the Fourth Judge of Israel and a prophetess, was intimately acquainted with God and was instructed by the Holy Spirit. She had the gift of wisdom, and she heard the words of God. There is no stopping in becoming empowered; no end to more love, more power, more wisdom. We can shine forth as ‘Warriors of Light’ in a day when there is so
much darkness on every side. Jesus said, “Ye are the light of the world.” Matt. 5:14 Judge Deborah told how a victory could be won by a woman. Have you read the story of Jael in Judges 4:22? I want to emphasize to my sisters in the Lord that you can do nothing of yourselves: it is the Holy Spirit and an intimacy with Jesus that empowers us to go forward into battle and to be victorious. For some reason, as I am writing this, I am thinking of the childhood song, The Farmer in the Dell. Remember, ‘The Cheese stands alone’? Funny! Sometimes, we have to be the ‘Cheese’, while the ‘Crackers’ crumble all around us! Arise Warrior Women! Take your place in a quiet, confident manner, knowing that, inside, there is a Bold Warrior Woman!

Since we all are now in a time of many challenges, both physical and spiritual I sensed a deeper need to share something other than advice in how to cope, to not be depressed, or not fear in how our lives have changed and how to cope with the darkness forming around us. On our way to grocery shopping this morning I told Nick I was going to begin writing when we get home but still praying about a subject. He thought for about a moment and said, “As for me and my house I will serve the Lord”. It was the answer! Before beginning the article, I read the scripture leading up to Joshua’s 24:15 statement of a whole nation being freed from slavery by God who fulfilled a promise of freeing his children from slavery, have victory, and joy in a promised land all because of His love for them. Moses started and Joshua completed the journey. But when they reached the promised land, they started to turn away from their God by worshiping pagan gods of the region. Joshua reminded them of what they were doing and what he was going to continue to do. Serve the Lord. They then repented and committed to serve only their one true
God. Have you recently noticed anything similar to Joshua’s story? Are we at home feeling restricted with changes we are not happy about? Are we fearful of upheaval in our country, our personal lives, our health? Who or what do we depend on for peace, answers, comfort? We would never think of comfort being considered a god who is silently affecting our lives. I got on the scales this morning. Who was my comforter? Pizza. How about peace? What is tempting us to be more and more like the world around us? Fear, personal opinion, the unknown? How do we express these fears in our homes? What about answers? Are we depending more on the news spread all over TV, Internet, Facebook? Or does it bring more fear, concern, worry? Are we looking to these things as truth? What god do we serve? In Hebrew one of the definitions of to serve is to worship. Who or what do we worship? When Nick suggested the topic and I started to put down my own thoughts I realized how the enemy is so intent in keeping mankind in turmoil. But he is more intent on the children of the true living God to slip away from all that is good, beautiful, and free
even while living in this prom ised land. I believe this is a time for us to have a wake-up call. Who will you serve? I have had my share of challenges and submitted to some of them, but in our home we still commit to study the Word, read beautiful devotionals of God’s love, pray, and praise when we see Him working on our behalf. He is in control. He does not miss anything. He sees the world in turmoil, just like the Israelites who were in bondage. He also still has a plan. An eternal and joyful plan for us. We all may look at the chaos around us in different ways. I now see it as a choice in the midst of the chaos. Do I depend on what I see around me, or do I depend on what the One True God is doing and preparing us for? So as Joshua said and what Nick and Louise are saying, “If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” NASB Blessings and Love, Louise Alleva, D.Min, LCPC, CTC

Elijah was a human being with a nature such as we have (with feelings, affections, and a constitution like ours); and he prayed earnestly for it not to rain, and no rain fell on the earth for three years and six months. And then he prayed again, and the heavens supplied rain and the land produced its crops (as usual). Proverbs 15 verse 29 says that the Lord hears the prayers of the (consistently) righteous (the upright and in right standing with Him. 1 Thessalonians 5 verse 17 tells us to be unceasing in prayer (praying perseveringly; We are to thank God IN everything, no matter what the circumstances are, the Word says. Now we know not everything that comes our way, or happens to us, is from God, as there is a thief out there that is trying to kill, steal and destroy, but Greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world. By His Holy Spirit we can know the difference, as the sheep hear the Good Shepherds voice, and another he does not follow. Prayer has nothing to do with feeling like it, or not feeling like it. we pray whether we feel like it or not, because we love the Lord, and we love His Word. We want and need to hear from Him daily,
sometimes moment by moment. Prayer has everything to do with desiring to know the embrace of His Holy Presence. Prayer is desiring a kiss from God, and to return kisses to Him as well. Prayer is knowing you need to be in, walk in, and live in the Presence of a Holy God, your God, the lover of your soul!. Prayer is knowing you need to walk hand and hand daily with your Bridegroom King Jesus, Lord over all, and in all that is good. Prayer is knowing that as badly as you need each and every breath to sustain life, you also need His Presence. You need His Presence in your life, each and every moment. You know you need to commune with Him and Him with you as well. It is knowing you need to start and end your day in Papa Daddy’s lap, each and every day. Prayer is connecting with the Holy Spirit who lives inside of you Again, Prayer has nothing to do with feeling like it, or not feeling like it. It is obedience to His Word and His 1st calling upon your life. Prayer is connecting with your Maker, your life giver, your life sustainer, Prayer is a daily must!! Every Day! NORCROSS, Ga., June 4, 2020 /Christian Newswire/ -- Georgia Right to Life (GRTL) today launched a petition campaign aimed at ensuring that COVID-19 vaccines approved for use in the United States were not developed using body parts obtained from an aborted child. “GRTL strongly supports finding a vaccine that protects people from contracting this deadly disease,” GRTL President Ricardo Davis said. “At the same time, we
need to protect the rights of millions of pro-Personhood advocates who will have a serious problem taking a vaccine that exploited the brutal death of a child.” Davis added: “There are several vaccines being developed that are not abortion tainted. I encourage our officials to approve any of those that prove effective.” The petition is directed at President Donald Trump and Stephen Hahn, Commissioner of the federal Food and Drug Adminis-
tration. The campaign comes on the heels of a recent announcement that the U.S. has pledged $1.2 billion to accelerate advancement of a vaccine being pursued in the United Kingdom. A portion of that process includes using a cell line obtained from an aborted child. Following that, it was revealed that a U.S. company is conducting a promising trial of a vaccine in Australia that does not use a fetal cell

Genetic experts at the University of California Berkeley and the University of Pennsylvania reacted strongly to the research and warned other scientists about moving forward with similar experiments. Professor Fyodor Urnov at UC Berkeley said the disastrous results should be regarded as a “restraining order for all genome editors to stay the living daylights away from embryo editing.” Kiran Musunuru, a cardiologist at the University of Pennsylvania, said the experiment suggests DNA editing is much more complicated and dangerous than initially thought. “What that means is that you’re not just changing the gene you want to change, but you’re affecting so much of the

For pro-life advocates, the experiment is troubling on multiple levels. The destruction of human life, no matter how early, is always wrong. From the moment of conception, unborn babies are unique, living human beings. Yet, their bodies are destroyed and used for experiments in laboratories across the world. Genetic editing also has many concerned about the possibility of “designer babies,” or children whose genes have been edited to produce desired traits, such as height, hair color and sex. In late 2018, a Chinese scientist caused international outrage after he
announced that he hadsuccessfully changed the DNA of twin girls Lulu and Nana when they were embryos. The experiment involved editing a gene associated with HIV infections to make the twins resistant. One of the problems with the experiment, however, is that no one knows the effects of genetically altered DNA on human beings or their offspring. In December, the Chinese news agency Xinhua reported the scientist, He Jiankui, was sentenced to three years in prison for illegally practicing medicine and fined 3 million yuan (about $430,000). Meanwhile, international health agencies are considering international guidelines for genetic editing. +++

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Signs Pro-Life Bill Requiring Parental Consent on Abortion By: Lifenews.com
A Florida bill to ensure parents are involved in their child’s decision to have an abortion i snow state law, thanks to Gov. Ron DeSantis. Senate Bill 404 requires a girl under 18 to have at least one parent’s permission before going through with an abortion. The bill includes exceptions for medical emergencies and allows a judge to grant permission instead of a parent. It also increases the penalties for not caring for an infant born alive during an abortion. Sponsor state Sen. Kelli Stargel, R-Lakeland, who struggled through a teenage pregnancy herself, said the bill will protect young girls and strengthen families. “I think this is strengthening the family and making sure that when you have those difficult situations that there is a conversation. A discussion,” she said. Abortion advocates opposed the pro-life bill, claiming that underage girls should be able to get abortion without their parents’ knowledge or consent, and, as The Floridian reports, pro-abortion groups plan to file a lawsuit if it passes. “I don’t think the parent should have the veto power of a child that
wants to have an abortion,” said state Sen. Gary Farmer, a Democrat. “Unlike notification, in this bill, the parents need to sign off consent to the abortion happening, and I don’t think that any woman should have their right to control their body determined by another person.” But Dr. Grazie Pozo Christie says that, as a physician, she knows the bill DeSantis signed will help young girls. “It is welcome news that Florida is now set to become the sixth state to

require both parental consent and notice before minor girls can get an abortion,” she says. “Ensuring that a child’s parents are involved before any medical or surgical procedure is performed on a minor patient makes sense in any state.” The physician says this law is vitally important in Florida. “In Florida, though, it makes extra sense. Florida is home to a huge immigrant population, many of them undocumented and vulnerable, and special care should be taken to protect these vulnerable girls. Surprisingly, abortion is often excluded under existing commonsense parental consent laws, even though it is an invasive surgical procedure with significant potential for harmful complications,” Pozo said. Dr. Pozo said the new pro-life law makes abortion congruent with other medical procedures and laws affecting minors. “In Florida, for instance, it is illegal to tattoo a child under 16, and parental consent is required for minors between 16 and 18. Anyone with a child in school knows how delicately and diffidently school administrators handle any medical intervention, even the administration of Tylenol for cramps. Surgeons would lose their licenses if they performed a tonsillectomy on a child without informing the parents or guardians or seeking
their consent,” she said. About 1,500 underage girls have abortions in Florida each year, and about 200 request judicial waivers so they do not have to tell their parents, according to the Miami Herald. Parental consent laws help protect young girls. They can help young victims of sexual abuse who may be forced or coerced into an abortion by their abuser. The laws also help protect vulnerable teens from making a hasty, uninformed decision to abort their unborn babies – something they may later regret. Research shows that these laws help save unborn babies from abortions. Currently, 37 states require some form of parental involvement before a minor aborts her unborn baby. Recently, however, Illinois, Massachusetts and Rhode Island considered pro-abortion bills to end their parental involvement laws. Polls show strong support for parental involvement laws. A Gallup poll found 71 percent of Americans favor laws requiring parents’ involvement in a minor’s abortion decision. Three decades ago, the Florida Supreme Court struck down a similar parental consent law, but pro-life lawmakers believe Stargel’s bill will be upheld, if challenged. Justice Impaired: Roberts Sides with Pro-Aborts

He goes into great detail about the alleged “obstacles” the law would have imposed on abortion, but conveniently ignores the fact that three of the five abortionists who challenged the Louisiana law were cited, investigated, or shut down for committing serious health violations. One of the clinics was closed permanently after it performed abortions on at least five minor children without reporting that they had been raped. At another clinic, a woman suffered severe bleeding and had to have her uterus removed because the abortionist did not have the required medical equipment to treat her. It is no surprise that these abortionists could not obtain hospital admitting privileges. Roberts chooses to disregard the fact that women are hurt and killed by abortion. He makes no mention of the innocent babies who are savagely murdered through the second trimester in Louisiana. In applying Casey, the Court has historically held that a law cannot impose an “undue burden” on women seeking abortion. In today’s ruling, however, Roberts actually re-focuses Casey by arguing, under the auspice of protecting “access,” that a law cannot impose a “substantial obstacle” between abortionists and their blood money. Roberts is critical of his pro-abort colleagues for their use of a “balancing test” to weigh the benefits
of pro-life laws against access to abortion, writing that “under such tests . . . judicial courage is impaired.” But Roberts’ reveals his own lack of judicial courage in upholding a decision he admits was wrongly decided to begin with. Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, and Neil Gorsuch dissented from the majority, writing that “the abortion right recognized in this Court’s decisions is used like a bulldozer to flatten legal rules that stand in the way.” Justice Brett Kavanaugh joined in that opinion but also filed a separate dissent. Toybox Charity Shares Stories of Street Kids in Lockdown By Peter Wooding Bletchley, England (ANS) – UK children’s charity Toybox is urgently responding to the hidden victims of the coronavirus as they are providing vital aid to some of the most vulnerable street kids around the world. The charity says their partners are working alongside their governments to ensure street children are given the emergency support they need to survive – food, water and medical care – as well as advocating to stop them being criminalised for being homeless. They are also working tirelessly to find places for children in shelters or with extended families. In Nepal and El Salvador they are also providing children with emergency food, and hygiene kits including masks, handwash and soap are being distributed to communities in four of the countries they work in. To highlight this crisis Toybox asked their partners across the globe to send in video stories of what life is like for these children in the midst of the lockdown. WASHINGTON, DC, June 29, 2020 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Supreme Court today struck down a Louisiana law that required abortionists to obtain hospital admitting privileges. Unfortunately, Chief Justice John Roberts sided with his pro-abortion colleagues to invalidate the law. Justice Roberts wrote his own concurring opinion in which he held that the Louisiana law is unconstitutional because it is identical to a Texas law struck down by the Court in Whole Women’s Health v. Hellerstedt in 2016. While Roberts acknowledges that Hellerstedt was “wrongly decided,” he said the Court was required to “treat like cases alike” under the doctrine of stare decisis. While stare decisis or adherence to precedence is an important factor in the Court’s decision-making, it cannot be elevated over higher principles of justice, especially when human life is at stake. Using Justice Roberts’ line of argumentation in today’s ruling, would he have believed himself bound to uphold the Supreme Court’s holding that blacks were not citizens in Dred Scott v. Sandford? Roberts adds insult to injury by cementing the unwieldly “undue burden” test in Planned Parenthood v. Casey. Haiti (MNN) — Coronavirus containment remains a serious challenge in Haiti, along with civil unrest, food insecurity, and economic crises caused by pandemic restrictions. Yet, hope remains. For Haiti With Love’s burn clinic in Cap Haitian offers more than physical help to injured people. As explained here, Haiti’s porous border with the Dominican Republic and insufficient testing leave authorities working with incomplete data. “They’re reporting numbers, but they don’t have any testing. Everything they’re doing is a guess,” DeHart observes. “The only things closed are churches, schools,
and airports. [Haitians’] interactions and their close contacts are the same as they always are, which in some areas is causing a lot of sicknesses. In other areas, the deaths are from pure starvation.” Economic crises caused by pandemic restrictions, along with civil unrest, make a bad situation even worse. “People are burning down houses. [It’s the] same sort of thing that you see in some of the cities in the United States. So, there are a lot more people getting hurt,” DeHart says. Circumstances like these make the consistent presence of For Haiti With Love’s burn clinic and its staff even more important. “Their willingness to serve the Lord in the midst of all of this becomes even a greater witness than normal because we’re reliably there for them (Haitian citizens). And it’s God’s provision for them,” DeHart says. Consistent witness. ence in spite of everything else that’s going on in their lives,” DeHart explains. Whoever receives a serious injury comes to the clinic for treatment – no matter where their loyalties lie, she adds. “There can be people from both sides of that feud sitting in our waiting area very quietly together, waiting for their treatment. And then, when they get all fixed up, bandaged up, and sent home, they go right back to the feuding and fighting again.” It’s not clear when this Gospel witness will produce community change. “I have no idea; I just pray that, at least in the heart of the one being treated, we’ve made a difference,” DeHart admits. Pray “for the continued witness and the strength of the girls” working at the clinic, she requests. Pray also for a peaceful resolution between the fighting families. “It’s been going on so long that they don’t even remember what they’re feuding about anymore, but it’s very violent,” DeHart says. “It involves knives and guns, and there’s a lot of shooting and innocent bystanders getting hurt.” +++

Vice President Mike Pence is launching a “Faith in America” tour this week, appealing to Americans of faith ahead of the 2020 presidential election. The tour kicked off with a Tuesday evening event in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, featuring Republican speakers including Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson, former Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Catholics for Trump members Matt Schlapp and Fr. Frank Pavone, and Wisconsin Right to Life executive director Heather Weininger, President Donald Trump’s campaign told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Faith in America” seeks to highlight the important role that Americans of faith play throughout the country, particularly as the nation reopens following the coronavirus pandemic. The tour will emphasize how the vital roles churches play in their communities and in the lives of many Americans, according to the campaign.
The president has focused significant attention on both his evangelical and Catholic supporters. Several current and former senior administration officials have been Catholics, including former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, Attorney General William Barr, and White House counsel Pat Cipollone. Trump support for the pro-life movement and targeting the nation’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, also aids the president’s outreach to his Christian base, many of whom are against abortion for religious reasons. Photo From: The Jim Bakker Show Facebook SPRINGFIELD, Mo., June 8, 2020 /Christian Newswire/ -- Attorneys for one of America’s bestknown pastors moved Friday to block “disturbing” government efforts to force his church to hand over the personal details of his congregation -calling it “a very dangerous overstep.” The “heavy-handed” demand by government officials could have broad and “sinister” repercussions for churches across America, warned Pastor Jim Bakker’s lawyers Friday, as they filed a lawsuit in federal court to stop the move. Bakker’s legal team is also concerned that government agencies seek to “test Pastor Bakker’s sermons for truth or falsity” -- a potential religious freedom lightning rod. Three California jurisdictions and the State of Arkansas have demanded Bakker’s Morningside Church hand over its records -- including names and addresses of the congregation and details of their financial contributions. ‘Your Church Next’ “It’s extremely disturbing that this is happening in America,” said Bakker’s attorney Jay Nixon, former governor and attorney general of Missouri. “It’s a very dangerous and sinister overstep when the government de-
mands the names, addresses and personal financial information of church members.” It could be your church next. “Which ministry you donate to and how much you put into a church offering plate is your business -not the government’s.” A separate lawsuit filed in April in Missouri alleged Bakker and a guest made false claims on an episode of Morningside’s The Jim Bakker Show that a silver solution health supplement offered by the ministry could cure COVID-19. Bakker and Morningside strongly deny the allegations and have moved to have the lawsuit dismissed. Similar supplements are sold by Amazon, Walmart, GNC, CVS, and other national retailers. In the latest development, Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge, the City of Los Angeles, and two California counties -Merced and San Joaquin -- are seeking the names, addresses and financial records of Bakker’s congregation so they can probe deeper. ‘Attack’ on Religious Freedom The latest move was a direct attack on Bakker’s First Amendment religious freedom rights, and the “right of any minister to talk freely to their congregation, without fear that the government will
muscle in because they don’t like something the minister says,” said Nixon. Bakker’s lead attorney Derek Ankrom, a partner in the Springfield, Missouri, office of the Spencer Fane law firm, called it “an affront to religious freedom and the right of church members to freely associate without fear of heavy-handed intrusion or harassment” by government officials. “It’s appalling that government officials would attempt to violate a church’s constitutional rights, and the privacy rights of its congregation, in such a blatant manner,” Ankrom said. Last month, Bakker’s wife and co-host Lori Bakker told viewers the 80-yearold pastor had suffered a stroke and would be taking a break from The Jim Bakker Show while he recovers. Virginia Governor Ralph Northam Encourages Snitching on Churchgoers Over Coronavirus
Virginia Governor Ralph Northam wants residents to file a complaint against neighbors, friends, and churchgoers who they feel aren’t complying with his executive order about Phase 2 restrictions regarding social distancing, masks, and establishment capacities. The Virginia Department of Public Health is urging residents to “snitch on” public gatherings and other activities that violate the governor’s Coronavirus orders,including church services. The health department’s website has been updated with a “Complaint Report Form” with dropdown options to anonymously report citizens who exceed the emergency li-
mits on building capacity or refuse to wear masks to the state. The form allows users to specify the “type of establishment” they’re reporting, including indoor gun range or religious service. Additional types of establishments that can be reported are grocery or convenience stores, restaurants, brick and mortar retail stores, wineries or breweries, personal grooming service[s], gyms, and other. However, there is not an option to report unmasked crowds of more than 50 people that protest, vandalize communities, destroy personal property, or threaten police officers. The website states: “If you have observed violations
