The first round of the cup had been played in Hull, 1 week earlier, and saw Hull Jets defeated with a score line 2-4 to Telford Tigers.

Hull Jets knew they needed a strong, fast start to the game to be in with a chance of winning and that is what the team did – with a majority of the puck possession during the first period being Hull Jets.

However, the lead didn’t last long for Telford – Hull Jets fought hard to score another equaliser, followed by another goal just before the end of the 2nd period.

Hull Jets started the final period in the lead by 1 goal, but score lines change quickly in Ice Hockey, they knew they needed to press hard to keep the advantage, which they did with finding the net again, giving them a 2-goal advantage.
