20th April 2018 Dear Parents Welcome back! Welcome back after the Easter break! We hope you had a fun couple of weeks off and are ready to begin the summer term. Let’s hope the weather remains dry and sunny! May I extend a special welcome to our new girls and their families, Georgia and Violet in Nursery. As you can see from this term’s calendar the girls, are in for a busy term with lots of stimulating activities and learning planned. This term all of the girls will be finding out more about Highfield and its centenary and will also be studying a variety of women who changed the world. Below are some of the activities and events for this term that I would like to highlight: Friday 27th April: We are having a centenary disco for the girls so they can also join in the centenary celebrations. They can wear any party clothes and refreshments will also be available. This is free for all the girls so please do sign up at the office by Thursday 26th April. This is a nonticket event but we will need to have a register of those girls that are coming for health and safety reasons. If you would like to wait with your daughter/s then the Discovery room will be available and you are more than welcome to bring along your own drinks and refreshments. Timings are 5.30-7.00pm for Nursery to year 2 and 7.00-8.30pm for years 3 to 6. Tuesday 1st May: Mrs Gouldstone has organised an Upper School Centenary Concert at 6.00pm where our older girls will perform. All parents across the school are welcome to attend. Thursday 3rd May: The diary does state that there is to be a whole school centenary afternoon but this will be rearranged for next half term. It will be a chance for you to come in and celebrate the work that the girls have been doing around the centenary and their topic for this term. Friday 8th June: Our Highfield Centenary Ball! Thank you to all of you who have bought tickets already. There are still tickets left so if you would like any more for family and friends then please let Katrine know. There will be a live auction on the night to raise funds for the school and if any parents have any contacts that could contribute to the prizes, please let us know. As you can see it is a very exciting term ahead! On other matters: Staffing Mrs Brydon Jones will be off for a number of weeks after a minor operation this term. Covering her duties at Early Birds will be Mrs Tatham, who also works at lunchtime and is familiar with the girls.

Regarding The Den, Madame Young will be the supervisor and an additional member of the teaching or support staff will cover Mrs Brydon Jones’ role. Your support is much appreciated and we wish Mrs Brydon Jones well and a speedy recovery.

Sadly our Marketing Manager, Mrs Corrigan, will be leaving us soon and she will be the new Head of Marketing for the Marist Prep and Senior schools. We wish Mrs Corrigan all the very best in her new role. Mrs Shard, our previous Reception teacher is raising money for Walk the Walk cancer charity by partaking in the London Moon Walk. If you would like to sponsor her and her team the link is: https://moonwalklondon2018.everydayhero.com/uk/KimmysKrew I am sure any sponsorship will be gratefully received. Summer Uniform Reminder Girls should now be in their summer uniform – Highfield summer dress, jumper, blazer, white socks and black shoes. All uniform is available to purchase from Goyals in Maidenhead. Thank You Thanks to those who supported Hattie in year 6’s sponsored haircut featured in the newsletter before the Easter holidays. On 27th March, Hattie had her hair cut into a short bob and donated 30cm of hair to the Little Princess Trust. She raised a whopping £1290 which will pay for 2 wigs to be made. On the Just Giving site she was in the top 5 percent of the 34405 fundraisers in March. Well done Hattie! Your opportunity to refer a friend Our next Open Morning is just a couple of weeks away on 27th April (9.30am – 11.30am).
