TEXT: VERBS IN USE – 1

Today, I had to wake up very early as I needed to hurry up to the airport. A friend of mine was arriving in Prague to visit me. So, I got up at 5.30, had a shower, got dressed and drank a cup of coffee before leaving. As it was early in the morning, it was a bit cold. That’s why I put on my leather jacket, did it up and left home. When I came to the bus stop, I realized that I had forgotten my wallet. Because of it, I had to run all the way back home. When I reached my home, I felt terribly hot. I decided to get changed from my jacket into something lighter. So, I took my jacket off and hung it up behind the door. Instead of the jacket I decided to wear a windcheater (a windbreaker).

TEXT: VERBS IN USE – 2

Amanda had a party yesterday. It was held in one of the fanciest restaurants in Prague. I was invited to this party, too. I knew everybody would be dressed to kill and look stylish. As I didn’t have anything special, I had to go shopping at once. I saw a beautiful dress. I tried it on but, unfortunately, it didn’t fit me at all, and they didn’t have the right size. I had to look for something else. I spent hours looking around the shops. In the end, I found an elegant costume. When I put it on, I knew at once that I would wear it to the party. Then everybody at the party told me that the costume I had on fitted and suited me a lot. The party was great! I enjoyed myself.

TEXT: VERBS IN USE – 3

Linda is ill now. Yesterday, it was very cold. She wore a coat. She felt quite alright in her coat when she was in the street. However, when she took her bus to work, she got hot and sweated. So, she undid her coat. Then she got off the bus. And, as she still felt hot, she didn’t do her coat up. In the end, she caught a cold. Poor thing!
