British is the New Un-British, Islam is the New British by Daniel Greenfield @ the Sultan Knish blog (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 7/19/2010 8:11:00 PM
There’s a widow in sleepy Chester Who weeps for her only son; There’s a grave on the Pabeng River, A grave that the Burmans shun; And there’s Subadar Prag Tewarri Who tells how the work was done. The Grave of the Hundred Head Rudyard Kipling That was then. This is now. And now a Gurkha soldier from the 1st Battalion, Royal Gurkha Rifles, is facing charges for cutting off the head of a Taliban commander, took the head so it could be identified and left the body behind. From Kipling’s Grave of the Hundred Head, as retaliation for the killing of a single British soldier, we’ve gone over to the British government being horribly embarrassed because a Gurkha soldier beheaded the corpse of a Muslim terrorist, from a group that routinely beheads people while alive. Why was this beheading such a terrible thing? The incident is hugely embarrassing to the British Army, which is trying to build bridges with local Afghan communities who have spent decades under Taliban rule. But who exactly are the Brits trying to build bridges with here, that they would be so worked up over a Taliban commander’s missing head? With the Taliban of course. Who did you think? While the American media is steadfastly ignoring anything coming out of the UK that doesn’t involve disgraced pop stars, burqas or BP– events are moving at their own pace under the Tory-Lib government. Britain’s new Chief of Defense Staff, General Sir David Richards, came out and said that this whole war thing is hopeless, and we need to start negotiating our surrender/withdrawal with the Taliban. “There’s always been a point at which you start to negotiate with each other,” Gen Sir David said. In his “private view” there was “no reason why we shouldn’t be looking at that sort of thing pretty soon,” he said. His private view, being that of the British Army Chief, is of course not very private at all. The odd thing about it is that Richards was singing a completely different tune back in February, when he was claiming that we were on the verge of defeating the Taliban. “The Taliban is now beginning to realise that they can lose this war, which was not the view they had a year ago. We have to reinforce the view that they can, and will, be beaten.” What happened between February
and today? For one thing, an election. And a new government. Which likely is why Richards has changed his tune in public quite this much. Richards is also being echoed by Brigadier Lowder, commander of the Scottish Brigade, and Scotland’s most senior soldier, who was even more blunt than Richards, saying openly that negotiating with the Taliban would be an exit strategy. (Not that this is a particularly surprising view from a commander who led troops in Basra, where Shiite terrorists were allowed to take over, form death squads, and kidnap British troops.) The entire thing is of course a charade, and has been for some time. All the efforts to win over the Taliban have really accomplished is to give them money to buy more weapons and recruit more fighters, via the 280 million dollar Peace and Reintegration Fund which attempts to bribe the Taliban into going back to civilian life. Meanwhile the Coalition of the Willing has been winning peace by providing payoffs to the Taliban in order to avoid attacks. And so we go back to that lone Gurkha who hadn’t gone the message from the top on down that the war was unwinnable, and that Britain’s only hope lay in trying to bluff the Taliban into letting them leave with some dignity. Instead after three members of his unit were killed by Talib Hussein, a Taliban who had been posting as an Afghan soldier, instead of risking his life trying to drag the entire body of a Taliban commander back while under fire– he took the head. But that soldier was clearly operating in a different era.
An era in which the lives of soldiers mattered more than showing respect to the body of an enemy terrorist. When you’re waiting for just the right moment to surrender to the Taliban, you don’t want to blow the deal by beheading one of their commanders after all. Why then they might refuse to accept your surrender. They might even set stiffer terms for your surrender. The Russians got off with their own exit strategy from Afghanistan by giving up a whole load of military equipment to certain key figures in the Mujahadeen, who just happened to also become pivotal commanders in the Taliban. It just happened to be one of those coincidences that probably wasn’t a coincidence at all. What sort of equipment will be left behind this time and whose hands will it fall into? Probably not a question we want to ask at this point. Instead let’s turn away to another issue of the head involving Muslims and the UK. Cameron’s Environment Secretary, Caroline Spelman, has helpfully the citizenry, 67 percent of whom would like to see the Burqa banned, that it is actually very empowering. Where did Caroline pick up this novel lesson from? Why from Afghanistan of course, the country most known for using the Burqa to empower women. But Mrs Spelman suggested that wearing the burka could be seen as a feminist statement. She claimed that a visit to Afghanistan had persuaded her that “the burka confers dignity”. Of course nothing says dignity like being forced to wear a garbage bag over your head, or be shot. Or
feminism for that matter. If wearing the Burqa is about dignity, why don’t Muslim men wear it? The Burqa exists because Islamic law labels all of a woman’s body Awrah, which must therefore be covered. What is Awrah, you might ask. It means defect or disability. It’s also used to mean women in general. You might get the idea that Muslims are not terribly fond of women from that, and you would be right. The Burqa is a portable curtain, for when a woman has to go out of the house. It’s mobile Purdah, keeping her segregated from men. But this isn’t really about feminism. It’s about surrender. One of the uncomfortable questions arising from turning over Afghanistan to the Taliban, is the question of women’s rights. The Taliban’s approach to women’s rights was a bullet to the head. Which means the question requires a little bit of whitewashing, such as say describing the Burqa as dignified clothing that women choose to wear. Case in point… For her security, she wears a burqa — a different colored one each day — and she says she never takes the same route to and from work. The woman says she is interested in peace coming to Afghanistan, but isn’t sure that a deal with the Taliban would mean real peace for her. and She says some in the international community are trying to forget how brutal the Taliban movement is toward women, because they’re so impatient to reach a peace deal that will allow their troops to come home. Revisionism. What revisionism? Damian Green and Caroline Spellman have you covered. The Burqa is all about giving women dignity, by refusing to treat them as human beings. So while 67 percent of Britons support a ban on Burqas– government ministers insist that a Burqa ban would be “Un-British”. This naturally raises the question of whether a Burqa itself is British. Apparently nowadays the Burqa is British. Banning the Burqa is unBritish. It is however French, Belgian and possibly Spanish. Surrendering to the Taliban is also British. Beheading them however is not. How do we make sense of all this? Oh it’s rather simple. Being British is now Un-British. But being UnBritish, is British. Still confused? Do try to keep up. David Cameron explained this himself before he was elected by people hoping for something besides Labor, only to discover that it was completely possible to vote for three different parties, and end up with Labor anyway. Israeli Activist Interrogated for ‘Hurting Shin Bet’s Feelings’ by Richard Silverstein (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 7/19/2010 10:54:44 PM
Yonatan Shapira Israeli peace activist, Yonatan Shapira has been a busy guy lately. Recently returned from Warsaw, where he spray-painted one of the last remaining vestiges of the Holocaustera ghetto wall with the slogan: “No more ghettos,” protesting the Gaza siege, Shapira has also been regular protestor at the Bilin anti-Wall (“something there is that does not like a Wall”) demonstrations, and is an active supporter of the BDS movement. Amid this flurry of activity, Yonatan has hurt the feelings of some in the Shin Bet. Apparently, he’s been a bad boy and let the chevra down, who expected more of him as a decorated IDF helicopter pilot. The secret police are so distressed that they “ invited” him to a “friendly” discussion with an agent at a Tel Aviv police station. Yonatan’s narration of his story is alternately funny and infuriating, which is the only way you can describe Israeli
politics these days: Yesterday Rona from the Shabak called me and asked me to come talk to meet her in the police station on Dizengof st. (Tel Aviv). She refused to tell me what was it about, but made it clear I wasn’t going to be arrested, and that this is just an acquaintance or “a friendly talk”… At five o’clock I got to the Dizengof police station and was sent to the second floor of the rear building, where a guy who presented himself as Rona’s security guard waited for me. I was taken to a room and subjected to a pretty intimate search to make sure I didn’t install any recording device on my testicles. After I was found clean I was let into Rona’s room. She was a nice looking girl, apparently from a Yemeni origin, in her early thirties. Rona told me that I she knew I was active in the BDS (movement) and (calling for) an economic boycott of Israel, and she wanted to know what else do I do as part of these activities. I told her that everything (that I do) is well-known and published on the internet and in the media, and that I have nothing to add, and that I wasn’t
going to talk to her. Rona emphasized that there is a Knesset bill that might soon make my activities illegal. She went on and tried to get me into a political debate, asking if I know that the BDS is in fact a Palestinian organization. Rona raised the issue of the graffiti in Warsaw and asked it was my own idea or another part of the BDS. She asked if I understood that I crossed a line and hurt many people’s feeling. Obviously the Shabak feeling’s (were hurt) as well… I offered her again to listen to interviews and read article on the issue. She said she did listen and read, but she wanted to know more. I told her I would be happy to give a public lecture to anyone who wants to hear, but not (talk about it) in a Shabak interrogation. Apart from the BDS issue she asked me if I knew that the demonstrations in Bil’in and Ni’ilin are illegal, and that the entire area is closed for Israelis and internationals each Friday from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm. She went into length explaining how the soldiers feel in these demonstrations and that it irritates them when I talk to them and when I answer them.
Rona said she was there herself and that stones were thrown at her, and that it war really unpleasant. She said that the fact that Israelis are present there makes the Palestinians more violent, and that I have to think how the poor soldiers feel, and that all she is trying to do is for the good of the country and out of her will to defend the people living here. I answered that all I do is out of a will to defend the people living here as well, and I asked where did she get all the information on my activities and whether they are listening to my phone. She said that she can’t answer this, but that generally speaking the Shabak has more important things to do, so I asked her what I was doing here and why was I invited to a kind political interrogation if they have more important things to do. I asked again if they are listening to my phone calls and Rona said she can’t answer that. She asked me not to publish the content of our conversation because she wasn’t the type who wants publicity… I answered that as a ISRAELI page 4

person committed to a non-violent struggle against the occupation I would talk and publish anything I can, including the content of this conversation and future ones, if these will be such. I documented the entire conversation on a piece of paper until Rona started discussing this paper and what I was writing down. Eventually she confiscated the dangerous piece of paper, claiming that I was not allowed to have any recording device in, and that what I was doing was illegal. Luckily I remembered most of the conversation and Rona hasn’t confiscated my memory yet. Maybe (it will happen) in our next meeting. That’s it. There might have been more details but from what I get these were the main issues. I understood that what they were after was our involvement in the BDS, and that they might even be preparing files for the moment the new law is passed. Yonatan A few notes and observations: in the U.S. no one in their right mind in Shapira’s shoes would willingly agree to an FBI meeting and certainly not without their lawyer. I don’t know what, if any consequences there might’ve been for him if he’d refused, but clearly the civil libertiesfree speech protections are considerably weaker in Israel. Note the “intimate” body search Shapira experienced before he was allowed to meet “Rona.” This surely happened because Chaim Pearlman managed to record 20 hours of audio conversations with another Shin Bet agent, Dada, who incited him to assassinate Sheikh Ra’ah Salah. A well-informed Rotter member says that Dada has lost his job because he
couldn’t manage to prevent himself from being recorded by his target. I guess Rona wanted to keep her job and avoid the same fate. Rumor has it that Dada will be treated well and probably end up as a private security guard somewhere where he’ll be out of the way and no longer embarrass the agency. Another astonishing aspect of this interrogation which could never happen in the U.S. is that Shapira is essentially being warned that he will be prosecuted by the secret police if the Knesset passes a law criminalizing Israeli support for BDS. This is an a priori warning that his behavior will (they hope) become illegal and end with his prosecution. I was always under the impression that the secret police in a democracy enforced the laws on the books. I didn’t realize they could warn people that behavior that was perfectly legal would shortly become illegal and subject them to arrest. And this from the Only Democracy in the Middle East. THe global BDS movement is an entirely legal and legitimate form of protest against the Occupation. It does not threaten the Israeli State any more than the divestment movement threatened the South African state. The last I checked there was still a South Africa. The only thing that country lost was a racist, immoral political system that dispossessed its majority and favored its minority. If the aims of the BDS movement are achieved Israel will not be destroyed. It will be different. And last I checked it was perfectly legal to try to change the immoral nature of a political system without mounting a coup against the government or destroying the State. We did this
ourselves in the 1960s. Further, I was shocked that the Shin Bet would haul a suspect in for questioning because their activities “upset” people. Again, I always thought you needed a violation of law to intrude upon a citizen’s life in the way they did to Shapira. Apparently, in Israel pure pique can result in getting on the wrong side of the authorities. The paranoia of the Shin Bet reminds me a great deal of the COINTELPRO era of the 1960s, in which the FBI ran roughshod over civil liberties because it truly believed that the Black Panthers, SDS and others were a genuine threat to the Republic. This allowed them to bug, arrest, harass, threaten, beat and even kill activists mostly going about their perfectly legal business. The difference between here and Israel is that we have a constitution and checks and balances that require accountability from every branch. There will always be violations and overreaching by one branch or another. But the pendulum always swings back to a more stable equilibrium. This is what does not happen in Israel. There is no check on the Shin Bet–not judicial, not political. They have carte blanche to haul pretty much anyone they like in for questioning. The only check on their power, and it is a small one, is the media–or those in the media who are not in cahoots with them or who are not so cowed that they refuse to cross them. Like a Seed: Tisha B’Av, 5770 My main lamentation on Tisha B’av 5770 is our nation as a whole hasn’t yet learned emuna and still trusts in fleshand-blood. Israel therefore remains in the clutches of darkness, rather than meriting the leadership of the generation’s true tzaddikim, the ones who lead us without any thought of personal gain and amenities. If we all really knew what we were lacking, our eyelashes would fall out from so many tears. The fact that our spiritual awareness is so dull is all the more reason for crying, for this is the result of the Holy Temple’s destruction, exile, diaspora, and assimilation. Soon, G-d willing, Moshiach will end all this. The more we prepare by
strengthening our spiritual lives, the easier the transition to a more spiritual world will be for each of us. Tisha B’Av is actually a beam of light from within a dark cloud. Our lamentations are designed to connect us to Hashem in a greater bond. Just as a seed buried in the ground must rot and degenerate before it sprouts into a beautiful, fruit-bearing tree, so are we, the Jewish people; for years, our martyrs have been buried in sanctification of Hashem’s name. Now, we see that any path we take other than emuna leads to national decay. Now that we’ve been buried and everything around us (politics, media, big business, and morality) is rotten, we shall soon sprout into the People of Hashem and the generation of the the renewed Beit HaMikdash, speedily and in our time, amen. Have an easy fast and G-d bless. Hija del Zion para Israel Support

BRITISH continued from page 2
Many British Asians see a society that hardly inspires them to integrate. Indeed, they see aspects of modern Britain which are a threat to the values they hold dear – values which we should all hold dear. Asian families and communities are incredibly strong and cohesive, and have a sense of civic responsibility which puts the rest of us to shame. Not for the first time, I found myself thinking that it is mainstream Britain which needs to integrate more with the British Asian way of life, not the other way around. This was David Cameron back in 2007, when he discovered that Muslims didn’t need to become more British, but Britons needed to become more Muslim. And again… It’s another reminder that integration is a two-way street. If we want to remind ourselves of British values – hospitality, tolerance and generosity to name just three – there are plenty of British Muslims ready to show us what those things really mean. Which is the real idea here. Islam is the new British value system. The old British value system is Un-British. Burqas are in. A pint at the pub is out. The Union Jack is out. The Hezbollah and Hamas flags are in. Michael Savage is still un-British and banned from entering the country. On the
other hand, Muslim clerics are still free to spew their hate and their disciples are free to jeer returning British soldiers. On the other hand the English Defence League confronting them, is most Un-British. And official events for the 7/7 bombings are of course most Un-British. Instead there was the launch of a multicultural “Preventing Hate” campaign. Because as we all know, there’s no better way to stop Islamic terrorism. A joint statement pledged they were committed to promoting “a new sense of collective community responsibility” which has the power “to curb all manifestations and expressions of hate crime”. So apparently 7/7 has been recategorized as a hate crime, in line with scrawling graffiti on walls, or even worse, the day was hijacked to promote yet more awareness of “Islamophobia”. Many said the lack of official recognition was in direct contrast to how America marks the 9/11 anniversary. Graham Foulkes, whose 22-year-old son David was killed at the Edgware Road bombing, said: ‘On the fifth anniv-ersary, the least the prime minister could do is attend and lay a wreath. ‘This was a national attack and it’s really disappointing. I know it’s upset
many people.’ He contrasted Britain’s attitude with the active approach taken to remembering the 2001 attacks in the US. ‘The Americans had an independent inquiry. We can’t even get the inq-uests to run within a reasonable timetable,’ he said. Fifty-two people died and more than 700 were injured in 2005 when four Islamist extremists detonated bombs on three Tube trains and a bus. Many survivors and families gathered yesterday at the Hyde Park memorial, where floral tributes were laid. A note from prime minister David Cameron on one wreath said the victims ‘will never be forgotten’. …when they already have been. But then remembering the dead was a very British thing to do. And we don’t do that anymore. We wear Burqas. We surrender to terrorism. We surrender. Period. So let us allow Kipling a final word on the matter of Taliban heads and London Burqas, and the mindset behind it, that one can buy peace and security by paying in the cheap coin of your self-respect. “We never pay any-one Dane-geld, No matter how trifling the cost; For the end of that game is oppression and shame,
And the nation that pays it is lost!” …and the nation that pays it is lost. Germany opens suicide bomber hotline by Carl in Jerusalem (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 7/19/2010 10:50:00 PM
Germany opens suicide bomber hotline Germany has opened a hotline for Muslims who feel pressured to become suicide bombers. A statement from the German Federal Constitution Protection Office said “the primary goal of HATIF is to prevent violence in the name of Islam.” The hotline is called “HATIF,” which means “telephone” in Arabic, and is a German acronym for Out of Terrorist and Islamic Fascism, according to a Monday report by DPA. The service is intended as an outlet for Muslims who feel pressured into espousing extremist ideas, and provides advice and help with gaining qualifications, changing locations, and taking “appropriate measures” against threats. The German government recently took a stand against Muslim extremism when it banned the
Frankfurt-based IHH, the organization which funded the Gaza flotilla that was boarded by Israeli commandos, resulting in the deaths of nine Turkish citizens. Heinz Fromm, the president of the German intelligence agency, said he sees anti- Semitism in both rightwingers and Muslim extremists in Germany.
Fromm was quoted in Der Spiegel on Sunday as saying the two groups have “a similar picture of the enemy: Israel and the Jews overall.” He said that while neo-Nazis adhere to a racist anti-Semitism, Muslim extremists “are oriented toward the Israeli-Palestinian conflict,” and that both groups have the idea “that Israel and the Jews have undue power that
needs to be fought.” Well, at least they don’t feel the need to hide behind political correctness and pretend they need a hotline for all religions. Maybe they could teach the last several occupants of the White House a thing or two. posted by Carl in Jerusalem @ 8:50 AM Hija del Zion para Israel Support Israel • He’s never seen Israel like this He's never seen Israel like this I don't have the sense that most Israelis are spending a lot of time talking about Iran. Islam Experts: Ground Zero ‘Mega Mosque’ Is Political Statement by Home (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 7/19/2010 10:29:47 PM
[Excerpt: "So this particular location, or the closest they can get to it, is the attempt to establish a historical marker for the visible progress of Islam worldwide, because it was with that event that they established themselves in the eyes of the world as legitimate victims of the West.”] The Christian Post July 20, 2010 by Michelle A. Vu
Several experts on Islam, including the Son of Hamas author, are opposed to the idea of building a “mega mosque” near Ground Zero because they say the motivation is political not reconciliation. “Why was this particular site selected? Because the need for a $100 million mosque is so great? Because 45-47 Park Place is the only place left in Manhattan to put a mosque?” posed Mosab Hassan Yousef, author of the bestselling book Son of Hamas, on his blog Friday. “No. Because it will make a
powerful political and religious statement.” Hija del Zion para Israel Support Israel • VIDEO: Three surprising things you probably didn’t know about Islam.[Excerpt from Video Description: This subject WILL affect you in the near future, so take the chance to inform yourself now before it does."] YouTube July 19, 2010 uploaded by TheW... • India: Jihadis rape and torture three teenage Hindu girls[Excerpt: "The Muslim boys snatched the scarves (dupatta) of the 3 Hindu girls and
