Bat Mitzvah and Bar Mitzvah Save the Date Cards – Top Do’s and Don’ts | about bar mitzvah by paraisrael (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 7/28/2010 7:20:12 PM

by bryskyd Bat Mitzvah and Bar Mitzvah Save the Date Cards – Top Do’s and Don’ts A bar mitzvah or bat mitzvah ceremony is meant to be shared with friends and loved ones. As your son or daughter comes of age in the Jewish faith and you are planning the celebration for this rite of passage, you may want to consider sending save the date cards. These announcements can give your guests the advanced notice they need to clear their schedules and make travel arrangements. So, what do you need to know about bar mitzvah save the date cards? Here are the top dos and don’ts. Do mail your bar mitzvah or bat mitzvah save the date cards at least four months to a year in advance. Simply put, people have busy schedules. They make plans well ahead of time, schedule vacations, business trips and family obligations. You want to make sure that your guests know about your child’s bar mitzvah date before they make those other plans. It is also a courtesy to people from out of town, so that they have enough time arrange for discounted air fares and hotel rooms. Do include the important phrases “save the date” and “invitation to follow” on your bar mitzvah save the

date cards. Whether you’re making your own cards or ordering them from a professional, it is important to emphasize that these are not invitations. Bar mitzvah save the date cards are a relatively new innovation, so it is possible that some of your recipients may not understand the purpose of the card, unless you are very clear. Don’t add RSVP to your save the date cards or enclose a reply card. This can really confuse people. You just want to alert them to date of your child’s bat mitzvah or bar mitzvah ceremony and celebration, so they have time to plan ahead. A response is not necessary. Do include your child’s bar mitzvah website address to your save the date cards, if he or she has one. You can update the website with travel and hotel information, as well as the plans you are making for this big event. If you don’t have a website, you can always print a list of hotels in your area, with their 800 numbers, and slip it into the envelopes for your out of town guests. Don’t forget to send a formal invitation to every last person who received one of your bar mitzvah save the date cards. You don’t need to send a save the date card to everyone you’re inviting. But if you send one, you must follow it up with an official invitation. If you’re not sure someone will make it to the final guest list, don’t send them a save the date card. Do consider photo bar mitzvah save

the date cards. The latest trend is to include a photo of your child on the card. You might even want to use more than one photo of your son or daughter at different ages. This is a fun way to give your guests a glimpse into how your child has grown! Do send bat mitzvah or bar mitzvah save the date cards that will stand out. Shop around until you find a design that reflects your child’s personality. Whether you go with your own handmade creation, a storebought card or professionally custom made postcards, magnets or photo cards, the object is to grab your potential guest’s attention. In this hectic society, it is a nice gesture to alert your friends and loved ones to this upcoming event. It shows consideration of their busy lifestyles and allows them to plan ahead. As a result, those who receive your bar mitzvah save the date cards will be likely to reach for their calendar and save that special date. Cameron’s Despicable Toadying to Turkey by Daniel Greenfield @ the Sultan Knish blog (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 7/28/2010 8:20:00 PM

It is sadly unsurprising that Prime Minister Cameron’s highly publicized trip to Turkey went with no mention of that country’s continued denial of the Armenian Genocide, and its suppression of Kurdish and Armenian minorities. Indeed when Turkish leader Erdogan discussed his threats of ethnically cleansing Armenians in the UK, Gordon Brown made no more comment on the matter than if Erdogan had been discussing his favorite television programs. It is in keeping with that conspiracy of silence, that Cameron made no mention of the thousands of political prisoners in Turkish jails, there often for merely expressing an opinion at odds with the state, for singing a folk song, or delivering an official speech in Kurdish. Naturally Cameron did not think to raise the issue of Leyla Zana, the first Kurdish woman elected to the Turkish parliament and a winner of the Sakharov Prize, who is still in jail today. Cameron could have at least raised the subject of Aysel Tu?luk, a member of the Turkish Human Rights Association, who was illegally stripped of her parliamentary immunity and sent to jail for handing out leaflets in the Kurdish language, and is now due to be sent to jail yet again. But rather than standing up for human rights, Cameron instead pandered to the radical Islamists who were his hosts, by feeding their appetite for hate directed at Israel. And it did not begin or end with Israel. Instead Cameron sold out the rest of Europe, declaring that he was “angry” at how long the negotiations to bring Turkey into the EU were taking, and declaring himself the “strongest possible advocate for EU membership”. He slammed France and implicitly Germany, for refusing to rush forward to support bringing Turkey into the EU. Cameron sided with Turkey, over France and Germany, betraying allies for enemies. And worse was yet to come. Not only did Cameron ignore Turkey’s ongoing occupation of Cyprus, but he signed a strategic agreement with Turkey that calls for ending the “isolation” of the Turkish Cypriots by upholding their “right to representation” in the European Parliament, and promoting political and cultural contacts with the Turkish Cypriots. What that means is that Cameron committed himself to supporting Dervis Eroglu from the radical National Unity Party, which calls for Turkish annexation of occupied Cyprus. The strategic agreement signed by Cameron, moves the UK closer to recognizing

the Turkish occupation of Cyprus, which currently only Turkey itself recognizes. Again Cameron makes no criticism whatsoever of Turkey’s illegal occupation of Cyprus. He does not mention the fact that he signed an agreement promoting the flow of goods from occupied Cyprus to the UK, while Turkey refuses to accept goods from Greek Cyprus. Of course not. No more than his predecessor was willing to. Did Cameron do any of this out of principle? Nonsense. Cameron knows as well as anyone about Turkey’s state of domestic terror, its persecution of the political opposition, and how unworkable Turkish membership in the EU would be. Instead like Brown before him, Cameron pandered to the Turkish thug-in-chief for a few pounds, hoping to boost British exports to Turkey. In the hope of a few million pounds, Cameron betrayed fellow European nations, signed off on Turkey’s occupation of Cyprus, ignored the thousands of political prisoners in Turkish jails, and whitewashed Turkey’s real record on Islamic terrorism. And while he and his businessmen friends beamed and shook hands with Turkey’s chief terrorist– others were left to stand up against the violence and brutality of the Turkish regime on their own. In his rambling speech, Cameron praised Turkey for fighting against terrorism. The reality however is that the only “terrorism” that Turkey fights against, is Kurdish guerrillas, from its large Kurdish minority who want to have their own state, or at least some basic human rights. And when Cameron shook hands with Erdogan, he was shaking hands with a man whose patron, Yassin Qadi, funneled millions of dollars to Al Queda, and whose own advisor, Cuneyt Zapsu, donated 300,000 dollars to Al Queda. Al Queda operates its magazine freely in Istanbul, which is convenient because Erdogan claims there’s no such thing as Islamic terrorism. If Turkey, as Cameron says, is guarding the flank of Europe… then

who in G-d’s name is guarding Europe from Turkey? Certainly not Cameron. Cameron’s despicable toadying to Turkey’s Thug-in-Chief was one long collection of lies. In his speech, he claimed that “ Europe will draw fresh vigour and purpose from a Turkey that embraces human rights and democracy“. Turkey’s democracy is such that its opposition is routinely jailed. Its human rights has sent 12 year olds to prison for singing folk songs. It has no concept of democracy or human rights. Its 10,000 political prisoners could testify to that. Almost a 1000 of them opposition politicians. The sham continued as Cameron congratulated Turkey on “ its efforts to achieve the ambition of zero problems with all its neighbours, including Iraq“. This after Turkish troops repeatedly invaded Iraq just just last month, murdering a 15 year old girl, among others. The Iraqi government protested, to no effect. Cameron, who is supposed to be committed to guaranteeing Iraq’s security, instead shamelessly praises the invaders. The only casualties he mentions are those of the Turkish invading forces, not their victims. Never their victims. And so it goes. Cameron babbles on about Turkey’s religious tolerance, while the level of hateful incitement spirals out of control. He talks about the true tolerant Islam, to a man who was at one point imprisoned for his own Islamic radicalism. He takes up arms against all those damned obstructionists who are preventing a lovely regime like Erdogan’s Turkey from joining the EU. He vows to fight them everywhere, like a latter day Churchill, proclaiming not, “There will always be an England”, but rather, “There will always be a Turkey in the EU”. If there was any Turk in that room who had the slightest respect for England before Cameron began to speak, it was sure to have vanished in a whiff of contempt. Cameron’s speech reminds one of English socialists visiting the Soviet Union and heaping praise on Stalin and the

wonderful revolution, before going off to collect their blood money. And now Cameron has done them one better, demanding that a radical Islamist regime share open borders with the EU. In a speech given while Erdogan prepares to round up political opponents before the election on fraudulent charges of “inciting” Kurdish riots– Cameron made only one criticism of human rights. Not of Turkey of course. Or of Erdogan, who has jailed about as many of his opponents as Saddam Hussein. No, Cameron courageously blasted Israel, for standing up to Erdogan’s IHH thugs, after they beat and stabbed Israeli soldiers inspecting their flotilla carrying aid to Hamas run Gaza. Cameron blasted the response of Israeli soldiers who fired back after they Turkish Islamist thugs tried to murder them, as “completely unacceptable” and called Gaza, a “prison camp”. He demanded a “swift, transparent and rigorous” inquiry. No such demand was of course issued to his hosts for their 10,000 political prisoners, their illegal invasion of Iraq and murder of civilians– or that Armenian genocide matter. Of course no inquiries are demanded there. Let us be clear what Cameron has done. He has sold out Europe and the free world by signing on the dotted of an agreement which explicitly trades English support for EU membership for increased exports. This is about money, pure and simple. There are no principles of any kind here. And what does Europe get out of all this? Here is a brief preview of coming attractions; It is mainly young people who take to the streets, with Turkish flags in their hands, whistles in their mouths and hatred in their eyes. “We have waited long enough,” reads one poster. “Allah wants this war,” is the message on another. European tolerance Islamized Turkey. The pandering of unprincipled leaders like Cameron will take it to the brink and beyond. Lower Manhattan Community Board denies landmark status for Islamic supremacist megamosque site at Ground Zero by Robert (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 7/28/2010 3:46:11 PM

Lower Manhattan Community Board denies landmark status for Islamic supremacist mega-mosque site at Ground Zero But freedom-lovers once again showed up in force and made their voices heard. Above is video of remarks by my SIOA colleague Pamela Geller and by me. (Video courtesy the magnificent Pamela Hall.) The SIOA high command (Photo by longtime Jihad Watch commenter Awake — it was great to meet you!) Sharif El-Gamal (R), owner of the property, and his lawyer Shelly Friedman (L) Mark Jacobson of New York Magazine, who interviewed me for two hours Tuesday about the Ground Zero mega-mosque Hindu activists Free people were and are against the Islamic supremacist mega-mosque Pamela Geller has many photos and more info over at Atlas Shrugs. Activist Barbara Paolucci kindly sent me this summary report of the night’s proceedings: First, Bill thanks for attending, 555 you too – nice to finally meet you, Bay People, what a group you are, I know you will win your battle too – so nice to see you again. Ilya from www.citizensmagazine was there and I’m sure will do a fantastic job of reporting on the event as usual – very nice to meet you too. So proud to see Staten Island and Brooklyn so well represented. The press was present, but not to the degree expected. As many of us as possible gave interviews – they make me nervous but it has to be done. Pamela Geller is on Hannity tonight along with Andrew McCarthy, repeats at midnight – try to tape it, it’s a good discussion on ground zero and the jihad threat against all Americans. [ It was last night; you can watch it here.] Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller were at the top of their game, as usual. They are so good at speaking for a limited amount of time and getting everything they want to say said. I tried to yield some of my time to them when I spoke so they could explain to everyone the differences in Imam Rauf’s book as published for Americans and the version that’s far more sinister and published under the same title for Muslims in Arabic. The Chairwoman wasn’t going to let me have the full 2 minutes I should have had to speak. I did submit the 5 page

statement outlining all of the reasons to landmark and stating that all testimony about building the mosque must be disregarded as irrelevant – and I submitted the copy of the request for a 9/11 historic district to be created that would include the Burlington Building. While it was accepted, they vote tonight, I doubt it will make a bit of difference. John Press, the leader of the Brooklyn Tea Party spoke and did a fantastic job too. Brett Joshpe, an attorney who along with Jay Sekulow of the American Center for Law & Justice are representing a 9/11 fireman, (and a group of others) in the fight to stop the mosque at ground zero. He had the crowd cheering too. Check out his website www.brettjoshpe.com and the ACLJ – http://www.aclj.org – both are extremely good. So many people were there on our side. It was more than obvious though that the Community Board was not on our side – in fact I was told by 2 women on the Board that they want the mosque. So much for objectivity and doing what they know the community wants, what the majority of New Yorkers want and what the majority of Americans across the country wants – they’ve heard from people from all over America who are against this mosque. While the focus should have been the building, it was the damn mosque. Gamal, the owner, was there and after introducing himself he said he

was there as a resource. No one was interested in him – he saw the anger New Yorkers voiced and couldn’t care less. I couldn’t help staring him down and didn’t let up until he bowed his head. Maybe 3 people spoke in favor of the mosque – all of them were shouted down until they left the microphone. Every speaker on our side did well. I have to tell you what I was told. It’s more than likely that the Landmark Committee will vote against landmark status for the building. The next step in the process after the vote is to submit the Committee’s recommendations to the Landmarks Preservation Commission – which usually does what the Committee recommends. Those who know far more than I do told me that it’s believed that Obama let Bloomberg know he wants the mosque and Bloomberg, being the fame and power hungry person that he is (remember he wanted the vice presidential spot on Obama’s ticket & didn’t get it) is doing what Obama wants. Also explains why Schumer, Gillibrand and Mahoney aren’t saying a word. So the expectation is that we will lose this battle at this level – but – The ACLJ is ready to take them to court over this, and they believe they should win. Give these guys as much support as possible. After they cut off speakers and turned to their normal business we started to leave. We went back into the room when we heard they were

discussing the original landmark vote that took place. Believe it or not, members of the board were questioning the panel (the Board’s leadership) as to how they arrived at the vote against landmark status. They were going over the points in the resolution and insisting on answers. A good sign, but…. We had to leave, we’ll know in the morning how this turned out. While I was encouraged by the questioning, I could tell by the look on this panel’s faces when we spoke and how they cut off our side that this panel would need a gun held to their heads in order to vote for preservation. I hope I’m wrong. Tomorrow I’ll contact some of the people I’ve listed above and see how we can help each other. Meantime, pass this along to everyone possible. And remember, We still need to pray. The Arabs’ shame by Carl in Jerusalem (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 7/28/2010 4:59:00 PM

The Arabs’ shame‘Palestinian’ reporter Khaled Abu Toameh reports that many ‘Palestinians’ would rather in live in Israel. Many Palestinians feel that neither Fatah nor Hamas has done enough to alleviate their suffering. Many Fatah leaders who stole billions of dollars of international donations earmarked for the Palestinians have invested their fortunes in hotels, tourist resorts and real estate firms in the West. Hamas, on the other hand, prefers to spend millions of dollars on purchasing [and smuggling] large amounts of weapons, including rockets and ammunition. It is a disgrace for Arab and Muslim dictators, particularly those who make billions of dollars from selling oil, that their constituents have to seek work and refuge in Israel and the West. It is also a disgrace for Fatah and Hamas that thousands of Palestinians cannot find jobs or a good life in the two Palestinian states in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Arab and Islamic regimes are spending billions of dollars on building new mosques and madrasas while nearly half of their people are illiterate and live under the poverty

line. University graduates in these countries are forced to search for work in the West because of poor working conditions and lack of opportunities. The absence of good government, transparency, accountability and democracy in these countries is driving Arabs and Muslims to seek work and a better life not only in North America and Europe, but even in places like Israel. A wealthy Arab prefers to spend millions of dollars on a private zoo than building a hospital or a university. Why should he when he and his family members could travel anytime they wish to receive medical treatment at Mayo Clinic or study at Harvard University? In many ways, these Palestinians are not different from the African immigrants who try to infiltrate Israel every day through Egypt. The immigrants come from Sudan, Ethiopia, Eretria, Nigeria and other African countries. Like the Palestinians, the Africans are prepared to pay a lot of money to get into Israel. Egyptian traffickers charge up to $1,000 for each immigrant. But for the African immigrants, the journey is also a very dangerous one. In the past three years, Egyptian border guards have shot and killed dozens of African men and women

who tried to cross the border into Israel. … True, Israel is not 100% perfect. But an African Muslim or Christian still prefers Israel to countries like Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Saudi Arabia and Iran. As a “refugee” from Darfour, Sudan, who now lives in Tel Aviv, explained: “I feel more secure in the Jewish state than in Sudan or any Arab or Islamic country.” For many Palestinians, it is easier to find a job in Israel and Canada than in any Arab or Islamic country, most of which impose strict travel and work restrictions on them. Palestinians cannot enter most Arab and Islamic countries without a visa. One can understand why a Palestinian needs a visa to enter the US or any European country. But why does a Palestinian need a visa to visit his relatives in Syria, Lebanon and Egypt? Many Palestinians from the West Bank who visit Arab countries often

Winning back the Land of Israel by LazerBeams (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 7/28/2010 5:01:00 PM

Winning back the Land of Israel It’s our solemn duty to do our best to preserve our security in the Land of Israel, and to win back those parts of our homeland that we’ve lost control of, such as Joseph’s Gravesite in Shechem. Scheduled for today is another uncalled-for provocation, an outright defamation of Jerusalem’s sanctity. In the name of liberty and democracy, 3000 people will publicly flaunt their same-sex attractions in the streets of Jerusalem this afternoon, with full government support and protection. There’s no difference between this Impurade and a ham-and-bacon festival on the sidewalks of the holiest city on earth, homeland of a people who live by the eternal Holy Torah that forbids eating ham and bacon. We certainly have no right nor any desire to tell others how to live their lives or what to do behind closed doors. But there are light years of difference between whatever consenting adults do with their free will behind closed doors and between making a nauseating public display of Torah-prohibited abominations on the streets of Jerusalem.

Achmedinejad and his nukes don’t scare me. Neither does Nasrulla and the Hizbulla. But such public debauchery here in the Holy City of Jerusalem is terrifying. As much as individual liberty and free choice must be maintained, there’s the responsibility of our special privilege of living here. This parade of an expected 3,000 participants is not only a slap in the face to half a million Jerusalemites, but to people around the world. Besides, this is the worst threat to our security here in the Holy Land. How? Open up your Gemara to tractate Sanhedrin, 93a: “The Lord of Israel despises debauchery.” When we need so much Divine compassion, who is so daft as to arouse Divine wrath? That’s national suicide! In the name of ‘free speech’? Why not play Russian Roulette for those who so desire in the Western Wall Plaza? That’s free expression too… The Islamic media is having a field day with such pink-promoted policies here in Israel. Whenever any society became decadent, it crumbled from within. Our hostile neighbors therefore hope for a big turnout at the Impurade. The key to holding on to the Land of Israel is personal and national holiness. Anyone who preserves personal holiness ( Shmirat HaBrit) is a true warrior with the spiritual power

to overcome all adversaries. One who doesn’t preserve personal holiness will be enslaved by his enemies just as he’s enslaved by his own evil inclination. With this in mind, a person clearly is not fit to rule a nation if he can’t rule over his own evil inclination. Here are a couple of indications that Israel is turning rightward. First, here’s a survey on whether people would repeat the Gaza expulsion of Jews. Unsurprisingly, they would not. In fact, most people would like to undo it today. A Geocartography telephone poll broadcast on Israeli Television’s Channel 1 yesterday showed the following results: 62% Israeli Jews oppose additional unilateral withdrawals. 21% were in favor. Results to the following additional questions appeared to confirm the trend: Was the 2005 disengagement from the Gaza Strip the right thing to do? Yes 25% No 54% Since the disengagement, has your support for the settlers changed? Increased 39% Reduced 14% No change 32% Would there be a civil war if another unilateral withdrawal was carried out? Yes 50% Maybe 18% No 21% Would you support another unilateral withdrawal? Yes 21% No 62% Did the disengagement strengthen or weaken Israel’s deterrence? Weakened 55% No impact 28% Strengthened 8% That sounds pretty definitive, doesn’t it? But what might be even bigger news is that Yisrael HaYom (pictured at the top) narrowly edges out Yedioth Aharonoth (YNet) as the top circulating newspaper in the country. Yisrael HaYom is owned by Sheldon Adelson, and is a Right wing newspaper – the only non-religious politically Right newspaper among the Hebrew press. Each of Yisrael

HaYom (which is handed out free on street corners) and Yedioth has a 35% market share. Oh American people. We offered you a peace plan, and mutual benefit; but your governments were proud and haughty, and so the attacks against you followed one after another, everywhere from Indonesia to Times Square, by way of Madrid and London. And the attacks are ongoing, and more will come one

after another, Al Qaeda’s second in command Ayman Al-Zawahiri has surfaced again, this time threatening more attacks against the U.S. and the West. matzav.com Hija del Zion para Israel Support Israel • Israel provides World Cup broadcasts in Arabic. Video: Sestak on the ECI ad by Carl in Jerusalem (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 7/28/2010 3:40:00 PM

Video: Sestak on the ECI ad Here’s Congressman Joe Sestak (D-Penn), Democratic nominee for the US Senate, talking about the ad placed against him by the Emergency Committee for Israel. Let’s go to the videotape. Jennifer Rubin adds: First, he tries to suggest that the ad is down. (Well, ECI actually doubled its ad buy.) Then, he claimed he really didn’t know. (He thinks ignorance is endearing? We are supposed to imagine his attorney never told him, “Sorry, but Comcast wouldn’t cave.”) Then he claims that the ECI ad was “false” — but provides no specifics. (I suppose if a pledge not to take money from earmark beneficiaries is not a pledge, then a letter indicting Israel for imposing ”collective

punishment” isn’t a condemnation of Israel for inflicting collective punishment.) And once again, he claims he went to CAIR to lecture them on terrorism. (No explanation was given for the slobbering praise for the group, nor was any repudiation of CAIR forthcoming now that several officials have been identified as engaged in terrorist activities.) What is unnerving about the performance is the total conviction with which he asserts facts that simply aren’t so. He betrays not a hint of self-awareness nor of remorse for dabbling with jihadism. Voters should take note: this is not a pol who takes facts seriously, and consequently not one to be persuaded by experience or evidence that contradicts his strongly held beliefs. Gosh, does that remind you of another liberal politician? Ouch. posted by Carl in Jerusalem @ 1:40

Media silent on Oliver Stone by NoahDavidSimon (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 7/28/2010 5:18:00 PM

Alana Goodman, who brought the Oliver Stone story across the Atlantic from the Sunday Times of London to Newsbusters, asks why the reaction has been muted compared with the reaction to Mel Gibson’s drunken anti -Semitic rant four years ago. via israelmatzav.blogspot.com Read the whole thing. Could it be that Oliver Stone is being treated like an etrog by his friends in the Leftist mainstream media? Jennifer Rubin seems to think so: Maybe it’s Stone’s long leftist track record — who can forget his glowing biopic of Fidel Castro? — that has earned him a pass from the liberal U.S. media. But maybe there is something else at work. Stone’s venomous rant against “Jewish domination of the media” and his assertion about the “Israel lobby” (”They stay on top of every comment, the most powerful lobby in Washington. Israel has f***** up United States foreign policy for years”) are not so different from what comes from the lips of Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer, the writings of the Israel-hating left, and the biledrenched blogs of those who, for example, claimed John McCain was surrounded by Jewish neocon advisers.

It’s reasonable to conclude that Oliver Stone hasn’t been called out by the liberals — those who advertise themselves as experts on diversity and bigotry — because a great deal of what he said doesn’t sound all that objectionable to far too many of them. And of course, it’s rather embarrassing for those seeking respectability (the “tough love for Israel” gang) to illuminate that antiIsrael venom is, when you scratch the surface, nothing more than oldfashioned Jew-hating. via israelmatzav.blogspot.com noahdavidsimon’s posterous Hija del Zion para Israel Support Israel • Israeli Air Force-IAF The Israeli
