Muslim Brotherhood-linked mosques arouse suspicion across U.S. And with good reason. The Brotherhood is dedicated, in its own words, to “eliminating and destroying Western civilization from within.” “Controversy Surrounds Construction of Mosques Across U.S.,” by Lauren Green for FOXNews.com, July 2 (thanks to all who sent this in): They’re separated by thousands of miles, but they share a common controversy: Mosques. Murfreesboro, Tenn., has joined a growing list of midsized towns in the U.S. that are embroiled in conflicts over proposed mosques being built or bought in their neighborhoods. Including Murfreesboro, residents have risen up against mosques in two other Tennessee towns; in Staten Island, N.Y.; Sheboygan County, Wis.; and the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood of Brooklyn, as well as the proposed mosque and Islamic Cultural Center near Ground Zero, which has garnered some of the most heated battles. A new Quinnipiac Poll shows that well over half of New Yorkers – 52 percent oppose building a mosque near the 9/11 site. Only 31 percent support it. Among ethnic groups, Hispanics show the greatest opposition to the Ground Zero mosque, 60 to 19 percent. Among religious groups, Jews and white Catholics expressed the greatest opposition, both at 66 percent.

Those who support building the mosques say the opposition comes from growing Islamophobia, racism and ignorance. Those who oppose adamantly deny that bigotry is involved. In Murfreesboro, Republican congressional candidate Lou Ann Zelenik says she’s not against the building of a mosque, but she does oppose the construction of an Islamic cultural center, which she says would be an Islamic training facility. “This has nothing to do with religion, but everything to do with a radical agenda,” she says. But in Staten Island, fears that a mosque will become a breeding ground for homegrown terror are rooted in reports about who’s financing the deal. Residents of the heavily Catholic neighborhood are in an uproar over a Muslim group’s plans to buy a shuttered convent and convert it into a Mosque. Besides concerns about increased traffic and little parking, there are disturbing reports surrounding the organization, the Muslim America Society, which is funding the purchase. According to the Investigative Project on Terrorism, MAS has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, a 100-yearold movement that is widely regarded as one of the most influential Islamic fundamentalist groups in the world. Its stated agenda has been to spread Islam and Shariah law throughout the West. Some of its members also reportedly created Hamas. “The Muslim American Society was created in the early 1990s as the de facto arm of the Muslim Brotherhood,” says Steve Emerson,

IPT’s executive director. He says the MAS and Muslim Brotherhood claim to oppose terrorism, but “behind closed doors they support terrorism and have defended various terrorists that have been convicted in the United States since 9/11.” But Ibrahim Ramey, the human and civil rights director for MAS Freedom, adamantly denies any connection to the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas or terrorism. “There are people who don’t like Muslims and don’t like Muslims in their neighborhood who have been vociferously and consistently trying to link MAS with foreign organizations and movements, but that simply isn’t true,” Ramey says. “We are not agents of Hamas nor do we answer to them, nor do we provide money for them, nor are we part of any conflict that they have with the U.S. Government, or any authorities in the United States.” Note the careful and evasive wording. There doesn’t seem to be any explicit denial of a link to the Brotherhood, at least in Ramey’s words as reported here. And no one was charging that he “answers” to Hamas. Emerson says his group has documentation linking MAS with the Muslim Brotherhood. He also says MAS has been on a spending spree in the last two years, either buying property to establish mosques, as in Staten Island, or taking over existing mosques, like the huge Dal al-Hidrah in Northern Virginia and the very prominent Islamic Society of Boston in Massachusetts. “The way to gain influence among

the Muslim community is to control the mosques,” Emerson says. “The way to control what people think in the Muslim community is to have the right imam preach the right message. The top story this week was the arrests of a small number of Russian extremists who unfortunately misunderstood the moderate nature of the Russian government and its espionage services. While right wingers might insist that the arrest of a Russian espionage ring reveals the existence of a covert war, the vast majority of Russian citizens are not spies, and therefore any attempt to suggest that the Russian spies were Russian spies is completely unwarranted. The wholly peaceful nature of the Putin regime means that any deviations from this norm are unrepresentative and should not be paid attention to. Oh wait, we’re talking about Russian spies, not Islam… never mind then. Also never mind the use of British and Irish passports, which we had recently learned was one of the worst crimes anyone could commit. Barring carrying out a radioactive assassination in London, which also led nowhere. In more good news, Obama is going to solve that immigration mess by reforming it. Somehow along the way “reform” began to be translated as either “Let’s create a bunch of new laws where there were no laws before” or “Let’s completely ignore all the existing laws”. The Obama has vigorously applied both versions of reform, to ObamaCare and now to Immigration and Cap and Trade. It’s understandable that Obama wouldn’t know what’s actually written at the base of the Statue of Liberty, after all it’s just a statue created by a dead white man and a poem by a dead white woman. If Obama can’t be expected to know how many states there are, he certainly can’t be expected to be familiar with something written on a statue that serves as a symbol of something he doesn’t believe in anyway. Which is worth remembering the next time the press goes hog wild over a remark by Palin or Hayworth. Obama’s speech walks a careful line, but despite all the double talk, the endgame is all too clear Like Bloomberg and Murdoch, Obama hides behind the usual “best and brightest” platitudes, which completely ignores the fact that we are not importing the best and the brightest, but the cheapest and the dirtiest. That is why they’re here. On Sunday I wrote, importing migrant workers does not mean importing “bright and intelligent people”, it means importing people to do bad and cheap labor, so companies can cut labor costs and pass them on to the

taxpayer funding the social services for the migrants. That’s already the situation that exists today. I’m all for importing millions of bright and intelligent people, though perhaps not during a major recession. But that’s not what either Democrats or Republican big business advocates want. What they want are cheap and easy people, who can be exploited on the job and at the voting booth. That’s why immigration quotas look the way they do. That’s why it’s much easier for people from the Third World to move here, than for Europeans. What Obama and the Democrats want is an exploitable voting base. And they intend to do it by dismantling legal immigration altogether. That’s the real agenda here. So when Obama says; the presence of so many illegal immigrants makes a mockery of all those who are going through the process of immigrating legally. …he quickly transitions to problems with the immigration system, but not the fact that legalization of illegal immigration dismantles legal immigration and punishes legal immigrants. And when he actually gets around to explaining his proposal… Finally, we have to demand responsibility from people living here illegally. They must be required to admit that they broke the law. They should be required to register, pay their taxes, pay a fine, and learn English. They must get right with the law before they can get in line and earn their citizenship — … all his proposal does is put illegal immigrants on the same standing as legal immigrants, aside from the extra fine. Which means that legal immigration no longer makes sense. It makes more sense for them to

immigrate illegally, sign a piece of paper, pay a fine and be on the same footing as the people who followed the rules. Obama pretends that there are two extremes in play. Either deport everyone or legalize everyone. Not only is this a strawman, but as it turns out Obama himself comes down on the side of “legalize everyone… but make them pay a fine”. While Obama pretends that he’s being a moderate, he’s actually staking out a polar position, and anyone who stayed awake through his speech could hear that for himself. But no need to worry, according to Barry… The southern border is more secure today than at any time in the past 20 years. But as with the Statue of Liberty, and the number of US States, and other such pesky details, Obama seems to have made a minor mistake here. He didn’t mean that the southern border is more secure than any time in the past 20 years. He meant the southern border is more secure than it was 200 years ago. At least the entertainment industry is keeping its head about the whole thing. To wit this calmly reasoned and well thought out letter from one Conor Oberst I agree with you in part, and the radio host you quoted, that the authors and supporters of SB1070 could give a s**t whether or not my band, or any other Artist, ever plays Arizona again. The only thing, clearly, that these people care about is Money and Power, that and the creation and preservation of an Anglo -Centric Police State where every Immigrant and Non-White citizen is FRIDAY page 3

It might be time for Minnesota voters to reconsider this whole “Vote for the Biggest Idiot” strategy. It’s just not working out. To make this story that much odder, while Klobuchar was joking about Twilight with Kagan, the body of her mysteriously dead step-sister was being recovered from the waters of the Mississippi River. Naturally Noam wants his son back,

the problem is that he doesn’t care which other fathers have to pay the price. His public campaigns are only serving to weaken Israel and strengthen Hamas, and are providing terrorists with the incentive to kidnap more soldiers. And if the father is bad, the grandfather is even worse. Meanwhile, Zvi Shalit, Gilad Shalit’s grandfather, also said he was outraged by Netanyahu’s address. “I reject his remarks unequivocally,” said the elder Shalit. “These comments constitute a death sentence for Gilad.” Netanyahu said that Israel is willing to free 1,000 prisoners in an exchange with Hamas, but that the country would not pay any price for Gilad Shalit. “The prime minister is using speculation in an attempt to make excuses for delaying the deal,” said Shalit, who added that he feels it is time to increase the pressure on Netanyahu and continue the march. The bottom line is that Shalit is a subset of a much larger problem, which can only be solved by removing Hamas from Gaza. In other news, Jeremiah Wright is back and more Marxist than ever( via Maggie’s Notebook) While some conservative bloggers continue to “incomprehensibly” bash Hayworth, Mark Levin has a solid rebuttal Meanwhile, McCain and his operatives have spent millions digging up dirt on Hayworth — not corruption, not unethical activity, but dirt that will show him to be a hypocrite. Now, this is funny. McCain is flipping and flopping all over the place, but we are to be moved by Hayworth’s appearance in that infomercial where he is pushing free federal grants. Until yesterday, McCain’s official website was informing visitors how to secure all kinds of government grants and contracts and loans. I posted it on this site. Now they’ve apparently hidden it somewhere on his website’s back pages. There have also been other commercials pointing out Hayworth supported all kinds of pork. I have never had to spend summer after summer trying to rally listeners to defeat any of Hayworth’s bills or ideas. Three years ago McCain nearly succeeded in destroying our culture with this comprehensive immigration reform disaster. He nearly succeeded in destroying what’s left of our free enterprise system with cap-and-trade (his quote about the debate on global warming being over is in my book). by runneralan2004 Shofar Sounds The fact that the shofar has been used since antiquity in the marking of sacred rituals has largely contributed to the mystery that surrounds the instrument. Of all types of shofar, the rams horn shofar is the most preferred ideally because it was a ram that was sacrificially slaughtered by the patriarch Abraham instead of his son Isaac. The shofar is used to make a number of dedicated shofar sounds but before we get into these it would be prudent to learn how to blow this instrument. Only a few persons wholly excel in the masterful blowing of a shofar, be it the ram’s horn shofar or that made from another type of horn. This fact is even supported in the Talmud where blowing the shofar is recognized as being a skill and not hard work. To gain mastery you will be required to dedicate adequate time for practice. The first step for anyone who intends to become a ba’al tekiah is to select the type of shofar that will best suit them. Rather than pegging the choice on aspects of appearance and size you should consider the feel of the shofar and the manner in which it sounds.

The shofar, unlike other conventional instruments, only has a mouthpiece and this is the only point at which you can alter the notes produced. This calls for adeptness in the use of both the lips and tongue. The best shofar for any individual will be that whose mouthpiece allows for a comfortable positioning of the lips. Get ready to make a note now. Start by moistening your lips at the farthest right-hand corner and hold the ram’s horn shofar firmly at this point. At this point your lips should be tightly sealed. When you feel ready, create a tiny hole (in the lips) against the shofar and then forcefully blow air into the instrument. To do this well, assume that you want to make a Bronx cheer. The resulting sound if perfectly executed should be powerful and bright. For longevity, fill your chest with enough breath and then let this out in a controlled manner. You can use two fingers to steady the ram’s horn shofar next to the lips. The tighter your lips are, the higher the pitch that will be produced. Always ensure that you don’t let excessive saliva into the shofar as this will serve to make the sound croaky. Having learnt how to produce notes on the shofar it is time that we learn about the three different sounds that are significant to Rosh Hashana. Persecution of Baha’is continues in Iran“They say they have noticed an increase in the persecution of Bahais since the election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.” Funny how that keeps happening: the increasing Islamization of government and society is accompanied by visibly and violently decreasing levels of religious tolerance. “Iran’s Bahai community fear rise in persecution,” from BBC News, July 2: First there are the images of wooden beams on fire. Then buildings come into view, some without windows and doors, others reduced to rubble. The shaky mobile phone footage posted on YouTube by Iranian human rights activists shows scenes of destruction filmed secretly from inside a car. The activists say the footage shows the results of an attack on the properties of Bahai residents in Ivel, a village in northern Iran. They also say that non-Bahai residents supported the demolitions. Bahai groups outside Iran have also received eyewitness reports from

Ivel. The witnesses said that several days before the bulldozers moved in, some people in the village signed a petition demanding the expulsion of their Bahai neighbours. Many Bahais had left already: a number of families had fled previous attacks on Bahai property in Ivel. In 2007, for example, six houses were torched. However, this time the Bahais left in the village complained to the police in the nearest town, Kiasar. The police denied that there was a petition against them and refused to provide any protection. The reports from Ivel residents say that by June 22, almost 50 houses belonging to Bahais had been flattened.
