Netanyahu on a collision course with the Shalits? by Carl in Jerusalem (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 7/4/2010 12:20:00 AM
Netanyahu on a collision course with the Shalits? Haaretz gleefully reports that Prime Minister Netanyahu is headed on a collision course with the Shalit family. This week Netanyahu has encountered some turbulence in the form of apparent widespread public support for the Shalit family, which is demanding a deal at any price. His stated refusal last night to yield to the Shalits’ pressure has placed him on a collision course with the family for the first time. All the parties in this affair are currently playing their roles, reading their messages from a sheet of paper in a display for all the public to see. It was almost expected that Zvi Shalit, the soldier’s grandfather, raged at Netanyahu’s statements yesterday by likening them to a death sentence against his grandson. The prime minister was correct in reminding us of the prisoners released in the Elhanan Tennenbaum swap with Hezbollah, noting that they resumed their terrorist activities after being set free (yet somehow neglecting to mention that he voted in favor of the swap). Netanyahu’s statements are factually correct. A few of those released in the Tennenbaum swap, particularly Islamic Jihad operatives from the Jenin area who were then considered relatively minor cogs, quickly vaulted to the top of most wanted terrorists list for their roles in murdering dozens of Israelis. Netanyahu said that the bone of contention centers around 125 names. Hamas submitted a list of 450 names, of whom Israel agreed to release 325. Israel then agreed to a bridging proposal by the German mediator. It was at this point last December that Hamas decided to freeze the discussions. Unless Hamas shows flexibility in its demands, it doesn’t appear that Netanyahu is ready to budge. The entire ‘march’ is being orchestrated by the media, which is devoting more space to it than to all
other topics combined. Today, a major highway is to be closed at rush hour to allow the marchers to march down it – please recall how many right wing ‘activists’ were arrested for trying to shut down highways during the ‘disengagement.’ Shalit’s uncle was on Channel One last Wednesday, and pronounced that since Israel is a democracy, and there are ‘tens of thousands’ of people in the streets demonstrating, the government must cave in. Of course, it never occurred to the reporters, Geula Even and Oded Shachar, to ask ‘well in that case, why wasn’t the disengagement stopped?” or “isn’t that street fascism?” But Netanyahu is not known for holding his ground. He is known for staking out strong positions and then yielding on them. The groundwork for that is already being laid. Senior Israel Defense Forces officers say Palestinian prisoners released in exchange for kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit could be allowed to return home to the West Bank, and that the security services could deal with the potential threat caused by freed Hamas activists. This goes against the statement by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last week, who said some of the prisoners would be banned from returning to the West Bank, where he said they could return to terror activities. GOC Central Command, Avi
Mizrachi, the most senior IDF officer in charge of security in the West Bank, told Haaretz six weeks ago that he was “not afraid” of Hamas activists returning to the region, and that the IDF and the security forces could handle it. At a press conference Thursday night, Netanyahu said: “I am steadfast on the principle that dangerous terrorists will not return to parts of Judea and Samaria [the West Bank] where they can continue to harm Israel’s citizens.” Netanyahu said if these prisoners were freed, they could take advantage of “breaches and openings in the fence” to carry out terror attacks in Israel. Netanyahu said the second principle on which he would not negotiate is the release of prisoners convicted of the most heinous acts of terror. When Haaretz asked Mizrachi whether freeing Hamas activists would lead to an increase in attacks, he said: “I am not afraid of terrorists going back. It takes them a long time to get reconnected to the area.” Mizrachi also said the IDF “can overcome” the presence of the released Hamas prisoners in the area, based on the IDF’s success in thwarting organized attempts to carry out terror attacks against civilians and troops. But if you read all the way to the bottom of the article, you find out that Mizrachi took no position on whether exchanging 1,000 ‘Palestinian’
terrorists for Shalit is the right move. And you also find out that what’s behind the IDF’s success in shutting down Hamas in Judea and Samaria is the Shin Bet, and the Shin Bet is opposed to the exchange. Mizrachi did not take a stand in principle on whether a swap, as it is now being presented, is the right thing to do, and opinions differ among the IDF brass as to whether freeing so many terrorists in exchange for Shalit is right. In discussions with the septet of ministers six months ago, IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi reportedly supported an exchange proposal by the prime minister’s representative, Hagai Hadas, and the German negotiator Gerhard Conrad. The demand to deport some of the released terrorists to the Gaza Strip or abroad comes from the Shin Bet, which takes a more cautious view than the IDF. Shin Bet chief Yuval Diskin took part personally in some of the negotiations, and went over every name on the list of terrorists who would be freed, and stated which ones should be banned from the West Bank. Read the whole thing. Barack Obama cannot stand up to anyone except Binyamin Netanyahu. Is there anyone who cannot stand up to Binyamin Netanyahu? Oslo: Debate on swimming classes after brothers drown by Esther (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 7/3/2010 11:59:00 PM
Oslo: Debate on swimming classes after brothers drown Two Somali-Norwegian brothers drowned to death last Wednesday in Svarttjern, Romsås (Oslo). The two were playing football when the little brother (9) jumped into the waters and started drowning. His brother (12) tried to save him. Neither could swim. The boys’ mother and older sister were there. When the police arrived, 15 people were there, and many of the witnesses said they couldn’t swim. The accident occurred next to a school and a play area. This article was prepared by the Islam in Europe blog – islamineurope.blogspot.com Islamic Council: Exempt children from mixed swimming classes In a commentary in Aftenposten’s paper edition, Mala-Wan-Naveen writes that many children in Oslo school seek exemptions from swimming classes. According to Naveen this is because the parents don’t want their children to swim or do sports in mixed classes. Shoaib Mohammad Sultan of the Islamic Council of Norway emphasizes that they think it’s extremely important that all children learn to swim. “Islam has basic rules on covering next to members of the opposite sex, which means that some parents will think mixed-sex swimming classes are problematic. In such situation it would be most appropriate to have dialog between the school and parents, to find practical solutions that take core of both the religious consideration, as well as the need for all students to learn to swim,” says Sultan says a possible solution for to avoid the mixing some Muslims are responding to is for students to get exemptions from the regular swimming classes. They would then be obligated to go to acceptable private lessons. “I think it’s fully possible to do this if you have the good will,” says president Per Rune Eknes of Norway’s Swimming Federation. Eknes says that a study done last year showed that 50% of 10 year old in Oslo couldn’t swim. Among ten year old of immigrant background that increased to 70%. Eknes thinks the most important thing is for children to learn to swim, not how they learn. “Children of an immigrant background have a different culture,
tradition and religion than we do, and therefore different codes for how to act next to others. Many ethnic Norwegians also have help from the parents with swimming skills, while the ratio is smaller among the multicultural,” says Eknes. Eknes supports the Islamic Council of Norway, who think it can be appropriate to take children out of ordinary swimming classes for religious reasons. “It’s not so important how it’s done, as long as the youth learn to swim,” Eknes says. Eknes thinks that regardless, it’s the school’s responsibility to ensure that swimming training is satisfactorily completed. Minority researcher at NOVA, Ada Engebrigtsen, told VG Nett that geography is also a factor in why children of immigrant background look poorly in swimming research. “Many immigrant parents grew up in other places, with a different geography and a completely different attitude to water. Their experiences with swimming are therefore not as good,” says Engebrigtsen. She says it’s serious that many children in Norway can’t swim. According to the Norwegian curriculum, Norwegian schoolchildren should be comfortable in the water during 4th grade. “The fact that many children don’t have the same basis for learning to swim is a problem should should be taken seriously. They should get a good [training] offering,” says Ingebrigtsen. Gran School in Groruddalen teaches swimming in 4th, 7th and 10th grade. They also have an afternoon option and their own course for girls. Principal Anne Myhrvold says that swimming classes are obligatory and that they’ve adapted what they offer to meet the challenges. “Those who want to swim with clothes that completely cover the body are allowed to do so. Additionally, we’ve introduced our own bathing suit with a hijab,” she says. The principal at Mortensrud school, Leif Arne Eggen, says he would like to offer more swimming classes to his students. “But again it’s a question of resources. If anything goes in, something must come out. Swimming can’t come at the expense of writing or reading,” he told VG. The president of Norway’s Swimming Federation completely disagrees. “You don’t die by not being able to read or write, but you do actually die by not being able to swim. As the last days have shown,” says Per Rune
Eknes. ————– Frp: “It’s apartheid” Mazyar Keshvari of the Oslo Frp (Progress Party) thinks the Islamic Council of Norway proposal is objectionable. He thinks it’s wrong to divide children based on religion. “The plan of the swimming federation and the Islamic Council of Norway resemble a type of apartheid. If Muslim children can’t swim with others, what will be next? That they won’t have gym together? You can’t separate children based on religion,” he told VG Nett. Keshvari says that children should both play and swim together, regardless of religion and background. He doesn’t understand Muslim parents who deny their children this. “I don’t have respect for such wishes, and I think the parents should being to act more civilized. I don’t want to take their religion from them, but in 2010 you should look differently at this. It’s more important that the children learn to swim, so that they don’t risk getting drowned, then that they swim in mixed classes.” The Frp politician is supported by the head of the Oslo’s Liberal Party, Ola Elvestuen. He says swimming classes are mandatory and must apply to all students. “Muslim students can swim with body-covering clothes if necessary. Additional regulations can also be considered by the individual schools, but you can’t give students exemptions from classes based on religious affiliation.” Elvestuen thinks there should be additional resources so that all students know how to swim. “The schools and parents should have a closer and better dialog about the importance of swimming. Secondly we should strengthen the students’ swimming skills,” he says. Keshvari is committed to increasing the focus on swimming – especially after the drowning accident where two bothers died in Romsås, Oslo, Wednesday. “This can also be done by introducing swimming tests, just like the tests carried out in other subjects. Students who don’t pass the tests, we’ll put in extra resources. In this way you’ll lift the weak students.” ————– Mothers learning to swim Nine women from India, Kurdistan, Ethiopia, Iraq and Somalia try hard to keep their body afloat in the swimming pool in Lambertseter Pool in Oslo. They are on a week long water-acquaintance course. “I’m in this course for the first time. I’m here because I’m afraid of
landing in a dangerous situation where I can’t swim,” says Amina Abdullah (37) from Kurdistan. The accident where two bothers drowned made the immigrant mothers in the swimming course very concerned. Many minority children have parents who can’t swim. The women think culture and religion are the reasons why neither they nor their children can swim well. “Thirty years ago when I grew up in India, girls weren’t allowed to learn to swim. The couldn’t show their body in a bathing suit with men. Today the situation changed,” says Karmjit Kaur (41). Iranian Nagah Imran (47) is a believing Muslim and mother to four teenage girls. All four go every week to a swimming course for girls. “Islam doesn’t allow girls to swim together with boys,” says Imran. The statement makes Indian Deepak Mahal (33) see red. “Religion is not more important than saving lives. Life should always come first.” Mahal wants even more swimming classes in the curriculum. “My children had swimming classes just seven times during the school year. It’s not enough,” she despairs. Rosh Hashanah 18th September 2009 – Send Flowers for Religious Holidays by paraisrael (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 7/3/2010 11:25:17 PM
by joshbousel Rosh Hashanah 18th September 2009 – Send Flowers for Religious Holidays Sending flowers for religious holidays has become a popular choice of gift, especially within the Jewish religion. Jewish festivals regularly feature flower decor within the home and Synagogue. Rosh Hashanah is Hebrew for “head of the year” and is the celebration of Jewish New Year. The day falls on the first day of the Tishrei which is in the seventh month of the Hebrew calendar and in 2009, it will be celebrated on the 18th of September. It is one of the “Yamim Noraim” which means “days of awe”. This is a time when followers the Jewish faith repent for their wrongs through various customs and rituals. One of these rituals is the blowing of the Shofar, a goat’s horn. The day is one of rest as the Jewish faith observes Shabbat (the Sabbath) on all holidays. Flowers for Rosh Hashanah The presence of flowers is tradition on all Jewish holidays. These are used in table decorations during meals, around homes and in Synagogues. Flowers displayed throughout the holiday are always extremely fine and beautiful. Whilst there are no specific flowers traditionally sent at Jewish New year, some members of the religion favour
blooms mentioned in the Torah. Several Jewish prayers and songs mention thirteen leafed roses as a symbol of those following the faith. This flower can often be seen in elaborate and fine arrangements used during Rosh Hashanah. Apple Blossoms are also a popular choice; however these flowers are not as readily available as roses and other striking flora. Judaism is symbolised by the colours blue, white and silver and these colours will often be interpreted into arrangements and bouquets during this festival. Ribbons of the traditional colours of the religion can be added to bouquets and arrangements and further complimented by candles. Those looking for a gift to send to Jewish relatives, friends or colleagues on Rosh Hashanah can celebrate with flowers. Sending a flower gift on this holiday, whether Jewish or not, is a kind gesture which is always appreciated and always put to good use! Send a flower gift with an online florist Online florists offer excellent services for those looking for flowers for Rosh Hashanah. A professional florist will have an extensive catalogue of arrangements suited specifically to this celebration but as mentioned previously, any flowers which are striking and bold will be perfectly suited. Online catalogues feature clear images of the products as well as easy search functions to help you refine your options
according to price and occasion. Payment facilities are very secure on these sites so those ordering online can be sure that their payment is processed safely. A flower and gift service will generally offer delivery services which transport the order directly to the recipient. These services are reliable and punctual, keeping flowers fresh and beautiful. Convenience is also a major benefit to ordering online as the process is relaxed, practical and hassle free. Rosh Hashanah is a day of rest for the Jewish faith, meaning that the Shabbat will be observed. It is therefore a good idea for those sending a gift of flowers for this festival to ensure that the delivery date specified is the day before, on the 17th of September. Orthodox members of the faith will not be permitted to sign for the delivery, cut the stems of the flowers or untie any ribbon or string due to Shabbat restrictions. The use of flowers on religious holidays for decoration and symbolism is an age old tradition, especially in the Jewish faith. Those with family, friends or colleagues celebrating Rosh Hashanah can add
to the celebration with sending a beautiful gift of flowers. Ordering through an online florist will ensure a practical and enjoyable experience for those giving and receiving! Interflora South Africa is an online florist offering fresh cut flower arrangements and bouquets for all occasions including flowers for Rosh Hashanah. Morocco continues purge of foreign Christians by Marisol (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 7/4/2010 12:03:00 AM
Morocco continues purge of foreign Christians“In April nearly 7,000 Muslim religious leaders backed the deportations by signing a document describing the work of Christians within Morocco as ‘moral rape’ and ‘religious terrorism’.” If we had a prize for ridiculous moral equivalence, that would be hard to beat. An update on this story, in which Modern, Moderate Morocco continues to enforce Sharia’s prohibition on the propagation — or even the alleged propagation — of non-Islamic religions. “Morocco Continues to Purge Nation of Foreign Christians,” from Compass Direct News, July 1: ISTANBUL, July 1 (CDN) — Moroccan authorities expelled eight more foreign Christians from the country last weekend, bringing the total of deported Christians since
March to 128. Two foreign women married to Moroccan Christians were included in this third wave of deportations since March, raising concerns that local authorities intend to harass the country’s small but growing Protestant community. “They are all in fear,” a source told Compass, “because this happened to people who are married.” One of the women, a Lebanese national married to a Moroccan, was diagnosed with cancer last month and is the mother of a 6-year old girl whom she was forced to leave behind. A Spanish national, Sara Domene, 31, was also deported on Monday (June 28), according to news sources. Domene was working as a language teacher in the Western Sahara, a territory under Moroccan sovereignty. Authorities called the foreigners to police stations across Morocco on Friday (June 25) and told them they had 48 hours to leave the country on grounds of “threatening public
order.” Other nationals who were forced to leave the country over the weekend came from France, Egypt, Lebanon, Switzerland, Nigeria and Spain. A source explained that Moroccan authorities are essentially deporting Christians for “proselytism,” which is illegal in Morocco, but in order to justify the deportations they have claimed that the foreigners pose a threat to the state. In April nearly 7,000 Muslim religious leaders backed the deportations by signing a document describing the work of Christians within Morocco as “moral rape” and “religious terrorism.” The statement from the religious leaders came amid a nationwide mudslinging campaign geared to vilify Christians in Morocco for “proselytism” – widely perceived as bribing people to change their faith…. How to sabotage Iran’s nuclear program by Carl in Jerusalem (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 7/3/2010 8:55:00 PM
How to sabotage Iran’s nuclear program Eli Lake explains how the CIA and the Mossad are sabotaging Iran’s efforts to become a nuclear power. Ever since the late ’90s—a few years after Western intelligence services became aware of a Chinese sale of yellowcake uranium to Iran—these kinds of operations have been a mainstay of Washington’s policies toward Tehran. The operations are state secrets, not just a “secret” like the use of drones in Pakistan to kill Al Qaeda leaders, something that Obama joked about in his speech at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Indeed, the government takes these secrets so seriously that it is threatening New York Times reporter James Risen with jail time if he doesn’t reveal his sources for a chapter of his 2006 book, State of War. That chapter disclosed a U.S. intelligence plan from 2000 that sent a Russian nuclear scientist on the CIA payroll to Vienna to hand over flawed bomb design plans to the Iranians. But, while such sabotage efforts don’t get much public attention, almost everyone familiar with counterproliferation says that these schemes are being directed at Iran’s nuclear program. In New York Times reporter David Sanger’s book The Inheritance, published at the end of the Bush administration, he wrote
about sabotage efforts targeting Iran. David Kay, who led the U.N. weapons inspection team in Iraq between 1991 and 1992, as well as the U.S. effort to find those weapons after the 2003 invasion, says he is positive that such sabotage is taking place. “I am certain based on the history of other programs against Iraq and other possible proliferators that activities to make it more difficult to obtain and to operate items crucial to their nuclear weapons program are ongoing,” he explains. “The Israelis have been doing this for years and so have the British.” Michael Adler, an expert on Iran’s nuclear program at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, put it this way: “It seems to be clear that there is an active and imaginative sabotage program from several Western nations as well as Israel involving booby-trapping equipment which the Iranians are procuring, tricking black-market smugglers,
cyber-operations, and recruiting scientists.” Three current U.S. government officials confirmed that sabotage operations have been a key part of American plans to slow down the Iranian program—and that they are continuing under Obama. But as good as the sabotage may be, it will only slow down, and not stop, Iran. The view among most officials and observers seems to be that sabotage is helpful but not, on its own, the answer. Uzi Dayan, a retired major general in the Israel Defense Forces and a former national security adviser to both Ariel Sharon and Ehud Barak, put it this way: “At the end of the day, this approach can delay the program and slow it down. It can put obstacles in the way. But it cannot prevent Iran from achieving their goal.” “Every president since Clinton has tried covert operations to disrupt Iran’s nuclear program. Bush did it, Obama is doing it. The problem is,
it’s not a substitute for sound policy,” says Henry Sokolski, the executive director of the Nonproliferation Policy Education Center. “It is a holding action. What they are not facing is that you have to somehow usher this group of rulers off the stage of history. It is a tough thing to do, it’s not clear how you do it, and they have chosen not to try.” Read the whole thing. posted by Carl in Jerusalem @ 6:55 AM Hija del Zion para Israel Support Israel • Part 4: Rabash, Shlavei Hasulam, article "Make yourself a Rav and buy yourself a friend – 2" Lecturer: Rav Michael LaitmanDate: 2010-0613Video: ENG 37.1MB Audio: ENG 6.64MB ... • The Little Red Hen and the Passover Matzah ISBN13: 9780823419524Condition: NEWNotes: Brand New from Publisher. Poor, starving Gazans collect antique cars by Carl in Jerusalem (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 7/3/2010 11:52:00 PM
Poor, starving Gazans collect antique cars This article is noteworthy because it drips with bias. Note what I have highlighted from al-AP: In this besieged land where every bumpy road quickly reaches a dead end of fences and walls, vintage car collecting is not exactly a typical hobby. But in a first-ever show here, Gaza’s small cadre of antique auto aficionados unveiled their classic roadsters this week and brought back memories of a time when Gazans weren’t hemmed in by impenetrable borders. Most of the 30 cars on display in a Gaza City parking lot date from the late 30s to the late 70s, and were purchased in Egypt — a previous ruler of Gaza — or in Israel, which captured the strip from Egypt in the 1967 Mideast War. They’ve weathered the elements since — along with two Palestinian uprisings
and a recent war with Israel. Import routes have been closed since 2007, when Israel imposed a blockade on Gaza following the Islamic militant group Hamas’ takeover of the tiny Mediterranean coastal territory. With nearly everything banned except essential humanitarian supplies, spare parts couldn’t come in either.
Gaza’s collectors brought in what they could through illegal tunnels connecting the strip to Egypt, but were also forced to do a lot of mixing and matching, said Mahfouz Kabariti, the show’s organizer. For the record, Gazans have been restricted from entering Israel since they perpetrated terror attacks in the late ’90’s and the ‘blockade’ was
largely a response to the kidnapping of Gilad Shalit in June 2006. Hamas and Fatah become followers of Gandhi and Martin Luther King? by Carl in Jerusalem (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 7/3/2010 10:27:00 PM
Hamas and Fatah become followers of Gandhi and Martin Luther King? The ‘Palestinians’ have decided that the ‘flotilla of fools’ is a tactic they ought to repeat. In fact, they are now depicting themselves as the heirs to Mehatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King. “When we use violence, we help Israel win international support,” said Aziz Dweik, a leading Hamas lawmaker in the West Bank. “The Gaza flotilla has done more for Gaza than 10,000 rockets.” Hamas and Hezbollah, the Islamist movement in Lebanon that has been fighting Israel since the early 1980s, haven’t renounced violence and both groups continue to amass arms. Hamas still abides by a charter that calls for Israel’s destruction; Palestinian youths still hurl rocks at Israeli soldiers across the West Bank separation barrier. And the flotilla incident didn’t fall into conventional standards of peaceful protest: While most activists passively resisted Israeli soldiers, some on the boat where protesters were killed attacked commandos as they boarded, according to video footage released by Israel and soldiers’ accounts. The incident triggered international condemnation and plunged Israel into one of its worst diplomatic crises in years. In response, Israel said it would take some steps to ease its blockade on the Gaza Strip. After the incident, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah called on supporters
to participate in the next flotilla bound for Gaza. Ghaleb Abu Zeinab, a member of the Hezbollah politburo in Beirut, said it was the first time Mr. Nasrallah had forcefully and publicly embraced such tactics against Israel. “We saw that this kind of resistance has driven the Israelis into a big plight,” he said. Organizers in Lebanon say they have two ships ready to sail, but no departure date has been set. A senior Israeli foreign ministry official said Israel recognizes “changes in the tactical thinking of Hamas and other resistance movements.” The official said the groups are no less committed to Israel’s destruction, but have simply concluded they are more likely to
defeat Israel by encouraging its international isolation instead of through military force. “People who are provoking violence are using peaceful protest as a cover,” said Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev. The first mistake we made was letting all those people go. The violent ones (and we have video so we know who they are) should have been tried, convicted and sentenced to long jail terms. But more importantly, we have to keep reminding the world who the ‘Palestinians’ are and what they represent. Sunday’s JPost in the print edition reports that has offered to ‘give’ Israel parts of Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria in a ‘ land swap’ (the report has been denied). That’s
also a bid to shift the pressure to Israel. I’ll have more on that later, but we have to recognize it for what it is. Abu Mazen cannot make an agreement on behalf of the ‘Palestinians’ and the ‘Palestinians’ are not going to turn into non-violent passive resisters overnight. Any claims that the ‘Palestinians’ are suddenly becoming non-violent need to be backed up by facts. Israel’s security cannot be made to depend on a claim that the ‘Palestinians’ have changed overnight. Huge Hamas corruption reported by Elder of Ziyon (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 7/3/2010 8:26:00 PM
The anti-Hamas news service, Palestine Press Agency, publishes details of a supposedly confidential internal Hamas report about the endemic corruption that Hamas members and subsidiaries are spreading throughout Gaza. A number of details are given: - Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh has been going on a real-estate buying spree, buying up property and businesses through his children. - Another of Haniyeh son was caught at the Rafah border trying to smuggle in millions of dollars. - A number of real-estate scams are detailed, such as selling government land to Hamas members only. - A Hamas major has stolen a quarter
of a million dollars worth of drugs and sold them. - Another member extorted money from people who went on Hajj last year. - Members of the Qassam Brigades are getting double salaries, both from that terror group and from Hamas itself. - Also revealed is that a number of Hamas investments in Gulf real estate, meant to help cash flow, have gone bad, losing tens of millions of dollars. As a result of the cash crisis, Hamas has resorted to stealing money from banks. - There may also be infighting within Hamas, as one episode is detailed where a leader of the Al Qassam Brigades broke into Ismail Haniyeh’s office to take hundreds of thousands of dollars given to him by George Galloway earlier this year! sole operating horse club. The Al-Faisal Riding Club is open to all, young and old, male and female, as long as they can pay the monthly fee of 250 shekels (64 US dollars), limiting the availability of the sport to at least the 30% in Gaza who are not unemployed. For the record, the unemployment rate in Gaza is 39% and not 70% as that last sentence implied. But the price is astoundingly low, which has to make you wonder how (or whether) the club makes a profit. Indeed, one has to wonder where they get feed (since there’s supposedly no food in Gaza and nothing grows there anymore) and where they get water (since we’ve been told countless times how polluted the water is). There was an ad in Friday’s JPost for a club located near Shoresh in the
Jerusalem hills. They are charging NIS 2,750 for a 2-week day camp (all inclusive price with transport and food), NIS 2,000 for a 5-day, 4-night overnight camp, and NIS 120 per person for a 45-60 minute family ride. My kids aren’t going horseback riding this summer. We can’t afford those prices (and we can’t and won’t take them to Gaza). But the ‘poor, starving’ Gazans are. Someone is living awfully well in Gaza. I wonder who that might be. posted by Carl in Jerusalem @ 11:13 AM Hija del Zion para Israel Support Israel • Purim Rabbi 5 Image taken on 2005-03-25 20:41:43 by Joe King.... • Meron – Meiron – Lag Baomer 2008 – 5768 A video of my epic trip

Happy July 4 – Mahmoud Ahmadinejad tells the Iranian people how poor Americans are by Carl in Jerusalem (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 7/3/2010 9:59:00 PM
Happy July 4 – Mahmoud Ahmadinejad tells the Iranian people how poor Americans are Happy July 4 to all of you in the United States and to American expats worldwide. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad spends the first minute or so of this tape haranguing about Jews (yes, he’s complaining about Israel, but note how he refers to Jews
early on in the tape), and then he goes on to tell the Iranian people some things about the United States that I’m sure will surprise nearly all Americans. Let’s go to the videotape. More after the video. Does Obama see this stuff? Someone ought to take it and show it in Congress, because it demonstrates the utter failure of Obama’s ‘engagement’ policy on Iran. posted by Carl in Jerusalem @ 7:59 AM Hija del Zion para Israel Support

US plans grant to preserve Auschwitz death camp by Blog Admin (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 7/3/2010 9:53:00 PM
The United States plans to contribute 15 million dollars to help preserve the Nazi German AuschwitzBirkenau death camp in Poland, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Saturday in Krakow. The US grant “illustrates the significance of the AuschwitzBirkenau site, helps commemorate the … victims who perished there, and demonstrates America’s commitment to Holocaust education, remembrance and research,” the US State Department said in a statement.
The contribution will help to swell a “Perpetual Fund” set up by the foundation to carry out essential conservation work at AuschwitzBirkenau, which grew from a Nazi German concentration camp for Polish prisoners of war to the largest death camp on Polish soil. Hamas has summoned over 100 Fatah members in Gaza – which means that they have been arrested. It is said that this is in response to the PA arresting some Hamas members in the West Bank. Hamas also confiscated their passports. Saeb Erekat has denied news reports that Mahmoud Abbas made an offer to allow Israel to keep the Western Wall and the Jewish Quarter, in exchange of cutting Israel in half for a land corridor between Gaza and the West Bank.
After Netanyahu said that he offered the release of 1000 Arab prisoners in exchange for Gilad Shalit, relatives of the Arab prisoners held a protest outside Mahmoud Zahar’s house in Gaza to pressure him to accept the deal. Egypt denied rumors that it was closing the Rafah crossing.
